I read a NASA article that talked about aerosols causing a significant portion of arctic warming. Maybe. I think it is mainly the filtering being done by our ISP's increasing the lagtime thereby causing an occasional timeout with the video player. I click just ahead, wait, and then when it begins reloading click just behind where it originally stopped so I don't miss anything. I may need to do that a few times to see all of a short 5 minute video. Sometimes the mouse wheel moves the slider bar which also causes the video to reload at the point where the slider bar is.

Contrails are dependent on the upper atmospheric humidity, not the surface humidity. So you could be living in a desert climate and still get contrails because the upper part of the atmosphere, where the plane is flying, is relatively moist.

There are probably more planes flying these days, compared to before 1995, which would explain why there are more contrails.

Final point, it doesn't matter how hot or cold or how humid it is when you observe contrails, it only matters how those conditions are where the plane itself is flying. It might be burning up where you are, but it's freezing a mile up. However, altitude is more or less irrelevant. The only three dominant factors are temperature, pressure, and humidity. But when they say ice crystals (which is what you see in contrails) don't reach the surface, that's just known science. Car exhaust is not healthy, but its effect is more signifigant since it's closer.

I've seen pictures of contrails forming on the wings of a fighter jet, so that pic of the trail coming off of the wing doesn't necessarily prove anything. What you need is to enlist the help of an airline mechanic to inspect jumbo jets for hidden sprayers.

A possible explanation for the trails starting and stopping over the city is that city air is polluted. Maybe smog or gasses rising from smog-filled areas helps contrails persist.

Thank you for covering this. Laws have passed that give permission to the government to test on it's people. I'm not sure what these things are but I've seen them, and they are evil. That is all I can tell you. They don't come from a jet's general electric (or rolls royce, or what have you) gas turbine engines. They just don't.

Contrails do not start or stop abruptly because there jet engines do not have a manual transmission :)

And just the other day Australia's top climate change guy was advocating the spraying of sulphur into the stratosphere. My point being that if they're talking about it now, then what are the chances that they've already been experimenting over the last decade? Pretty high, I'd say (some actually confirmed).
