The films were great, the many books by Rex Stout even better. I thought the films followed the novels very well. And the casting was terrific. It's a pity more films weren't made.
i love nero wolfe with timothy hutton and maury chaykin--i wish like crazy they hadn't cancelled it--rex stout wrote so many great stories that they had material for several more seasons! dammit!
and i got to loving rex stout's books because of archie goodwin. love detective novels, so it was painful that just when i was getting into the show, they were cancelling it. at least i got the dvds to snuggle with at night (hutton's fine and fun!--whew! go archie forever!)
LOVE this show...Archie is SO FINE!

Fess up everyone, aren't you glad that A & E dumped Nero and Archie in favor of programming like Dog: the Bounty Hunter and Paranormal State?

Then he decided that was an understatement.
"Very satisfactory!"
