  • Can still sure play the harmonica

  • voice sounds a little tired, i seen them in indy later that year and he was sharp. too bad ox was not there for the show r.i.p.

  • It is The Ox your watching at there.. :P

  • i meant he wasnt at the indy show i was at i have no idea who was playing bass that night robert plant opened for them. it was a great show

  • the whos new bass is john pinno

  • pino palladino you mean ;)

  • if you being retorical or something sorry.

you said it is the ox out there after some one said i wish the ox was out their.

    he did in 02

  • Oh, I know he died in '02. Well then I misunderstood you I guess. :P

  • I'm not so sure Keith Moon played the violin:

"Drummer Keith Moon had the idea of inserting a violin solo at the coda of the song, during which the style of the song shifts from crashing rock to an Irish folk-style beat. Dave Arbus, of East of Eden, plays the violin in the studio recording."

  • that is a very isnparational SOng.. it takes my rbath away

  • The Who RULES!!

  • its funny cuz most of the people arguing probably werent born before one or the other died

  • i'm 18 , and damn , i love pete n roger ! that's music , not damn jones bros ( or how they r called ) . italians love the who !!!

  • Comment removed

  • these guys are getting older and older but theire songs don't age.

  • great!!!

  • I love the harmonica solo it makes me want to play one.

  • it used to be a violin solo played by Keith Moon but he sadly passed away

so at least they still have that solo

    in a different form

  • It was still done in harmonica when keith was still alive. And I diddn't know that keith played violin on the original version.

  • Dave Arbus, of East of Eden, plays the violin in the studio recording

  • John Entwistle the Ox, and Keith Moon were the equivilent of about 20 people, They have shown in some of the documentaries just how special the two of them were. I got to see the Who once live when they played Quadrophenia with Entwistle, and Billy Idol playing the sting character from the film

  • The Who rocks harder now than they did with the horn section, Simon Phillips, three backup singers, a percussionist, and an extra guitarist (!) to play electric. The more compact Who with Zak, Pino, and Rabbit are great. Keith and John sadly passed away, so rather than hang it up, Roger and Pete have successfully moved on. 'nuff said!

  • Can't those people shut up, i can't hear. :D

  • ..having the balls to take Keith's place! What a band! So unique, know one played drums like Keith, know one played bass like John! Rest in peace the Ox and the Loon! Who forever!

p.s Zak messed up at the end, wasn't looking!haha!

  • Come on everyone, stop banging on how he sux or he sux! There will never be a Who like '78 and before! Gotta get that straight! Two very important people have gone, know one in the world can replace them,so The Who will never be the same again! You must understand that! But the guys who replaced them are doing a great job,Zak is the closest we'll ever get to a 'free' styling kind of drummer! Fills where we want to hear fills! Just like when Kenney took over, you gotta take ya hat off to them for...

  • well said

  • Thank you!

  • "know one in the world can replace them"

    learn english.

    no...not know

  • Haha! I do apologise didn't realise you were 'youtube's' official pedent' Get a life man!

ps English is spelt with a capital E. Now who is the knob?!

  • how ignorant can you be?!

You fail to recognize another person's abilitiy to speak a second language, thereby failing to realize that they MAY have accomplished more than you have...

As proud as I am to be an American, I am even more proud to have not been raised in the mainland, where (oh boy I'm gonna get hell for this) so many people are egocentric and ethnocentric. I understand six languages and speak three of them, even if it is, "brokenly."

    *Easternshores: learn PERIOD!!!

  • @dominiccarter77 im glad you said that.its nice to hear people like you taking up for the best band ever.Cheers

  • @dominiccarter77 and pino pallidino...damn good bassist

  • shup fool...the who are amazing!

  • Sorry. The Ox or nothing. There's an attitude missing now.

  • that is entwistle, before he died

I do agree the Who aren't the Who without Keith Moon

  • to their credit tho, the replacements do as good a job as could be hoped for. nothing replaces the ox or keith, but this is as close as you can get i think

  • omg..THAT WAS AWESOME!!!..i love the who!!

  • i love that song!

  • Oh My god! THE WHO!!!!!! they rock!!!!

  • what year is this?

  • '99

  • They will never be able to replace John either.

  • ya John was the man but Pino is also kool.

  • pino is "ok" but nothing to entwistle,it's not his fault though nobody can

  • ya i think Pino is the man but Entwistle is just Entwistle which is another level i got the Dvd An Ox's Tale which is about John and his bass role. He even said that he doesn't think he is copyable in a non cocky attitude which even made him more great to me.

  • Come on man. He's no John, obviously (who is?), but he's a hell of a player.

  • Zak is okey...

But we all miss Keith, ofcourse(the best drummer ever)*

  • yaa its kool how Zak got to be the replacement of his hero.

  • zac sux on this he is a lame drummer

  • zak does a great job. i mean he isn't keith, but only keith is keith. drumming runs in his family(his father being ringo star :)

  • That's because he has to strain more to reach the notes, vocally. It adds something to the music.

  • Does anyone notice how much better Roger sings it in 1999 compared to 1971

  • They sound the closest to their original sound than anyone else i can think of.

  • How the hell do they make that opening sequence from 00:18-00:59 Is it an organ or something?

  • It's a pre-recorded synthesizer.

  • is there anyway to re-create it?

  • When Pearl Jam covers it, they just play a vague semblance of it on guitar for the intro... and some other people *try* to play it on their keyboards...

  • @cody745 record with a decent keyboard, speed it up and play in the background :)

  • That is a pre-recorded Lowrey TBO-1 Organ using it's Marimba Repeat function.

  • does anyone know what year this was. jw

  • Still fucking rock the hell out.

  • Man after all these years they can still do it so wonderfully!

  • <3 The Who

  • Best song ever. Best Band ever.

  • pete townshend still rips

  • i love this grouo and this song

The who son la polla!!! los mejores del mundo

  • this song it's greaaat!!

  • This guys sound way better than the Rolling Stones right now.

  • greatest live band ever seen them twice 74,76.I was deaf for two days.

  • I love this song. and these guys sound awesome live.

  • i love this song

  • THEY ARE SO AWESOME *Glomps them*

Amazing, after all these years, they can play so well.
