wow, nice to see your cake deisgned with roses. as i search on yahoo, i found this tip on how to make perfect roses, for a beautiful and classic cake decorating look : adf.ly/572387/cakedecoration
@davidelij Thank you! That is a great compliment :) I changed the edge of the flower by adding color to the bag. Prepare a piping bag as normal with a coupler and tip. Use a small paintbrush and dip it into the color gel you want. The same color gel you use to color the icing. Take the paintbrush filled with color and starting at the very tip paint a line up the inside of the bag. Add what ever color icing you want to compliment the color gel you used and fill bag as normal. Pipe away! :)
@135Anju I cannot explain how to make the rose by words :( Serch buttercream rose in youtube and you will come up with lots of videos that show you how to make the rose. Hope this helps :)
LOL - not pass the course - like they would fail someone.
Anyway - took the course earlier this year and your cake is by far better than anyone in my class ... sadly I came down with the flu or something the last week so I didn't put a lot of effort into my cake.
Also our instructor kinda flew by the whole making roses thing b/c she said she wasn't very good at it ... :-(
@aggiegirl912 The cake is a standard 4inch tall cake. It must be the angle of the camera to make it look so tall. If you are trying to get to the 4inch height you cannot use regular cake pans. You will need to go somewhere that sells cake pans made from Wilton or another company like that. The pans have sides that are higher and allow for the cake to rise to the correct height. Hope that helps! :)
@kosovomd Check your local crafts stores. The major strores here in Southern California are Michaels and Joanns. I would also check out the Wilton web site they may be of some help. Happy cake making! :)
@SweetMillefeuille Where does it say that you need writing to pass the course?? I am interested to know. When I took the course my instructor had us practice writing then we had to show him and he approved it. My instructor never said that writing had to be on the cake. In fact, he encouraged us not to follow the examples in the book and to get our creative juices flowing. :)
if you guys want to know exactly the stuff u learn from the lesson plan itself go to my channel. if u have friends that are interested tell them to go to funfetticupcakes12's channel, other courses lesson plans coming soon
How did you get the tips are the roses darker? I'm taking the class right now. Do you use the buttercream recipe out of the book? The one with all crisco?
@bethany625 I just logged in after a long period of time. It is probably too late but here it goes. I striped the bage with gel of the same color I used to color the buttercream. I did use the buttercream recipe out of the book. I do add a little extra flavoring and a little extra salt. It adds a little extra. Sorry this is so late :(
@wantanmien The frosting recipe is Wilton's buttercream recipe that you can find on thier web site. I really like it. It was made to a medium consistency. Hope that helps :)
This is beautiful!

@audg714 This is not a PASS/FAIL COURSE. It is a HOBBY COURSE. I am a Wilton Instructor (11 years now) and The cake designs are up to the individual.
