btw trukkinmunky bc you didnt really touch on it... the yellow doors in their chests are there bc these guys were originally in the diaclone/microman line in japan in the 80's. those doors are where you could put the little microman drivers in there, didnt know if you knew that but thought id bring it up. also if you can pick up the takara japanese reissue of these... basically same thing but they come with 3 little energon cubes,which is nice and idk why hasbro didnt do that with these.
i had these when i was a kid back in 87. im 27 now lol and all i have left of my originals is kickback, along with all the original dinobots except grimlock(swoops dino head broke off like they all do).... anyways i ordered these last week and im waitin on em to arrive. you can still buy them from TRU site for 35 bucks.... instead of gettin ripped off on ebay paying 50 or more for them.
Great review! However they did not take out the die-cast. Each chest is made up of two half's, and the front of that is thin metal. I have the originals and they are identical.
Yea I played around with them more and found out that they had some type of metal in them. They just didn't feel like Optimus so i figured that they didn't have any.
Ya you know its funny because I (and my older friends) could have swore that G1 was all metal. That and Optimus Prime being "HUGE!". Guess everything was bigger in my little child hands in the 80's! Anyway, I ended up picking up a second set. Gotta keep the Insecticon army strong!
Great vid TM...thanks for letting us know that these new reissue insecticons have'nt got die-cast bodies..tis a shame but at least the paint won't chip off of them as easily.
I don't know whether to get these seeing as i have the originals and the takara reissues. I s'pose i could get 'em and have a little insecticon swarm!
