  • you can get the cube effect with any if you use CubeDesktop, i have win7 and i can do that, but it looks goog

  • How do you get that cube thing?

  • install Linux Mint 9 and enjoy Compiz !!!!!!!!!!!!

    mfg. `mark17021972`

  • @mark17021972 [[2 months ago]] "...install Linux Mint 9 and enjoy Compiz !..."

Yeah. Linux Mint is distributed with a lag behind Ubuntu, is not following the guidelines (not Ubuntu/Canonical) and will have a greater chance to NOT WORK on varying levels or ages of hardware. Even better, if you get really muffed up hardware or things don't work (I prefer Xubuntu or Plain old Debian) well with Ubuntu try SLAX, PUPPY linux or similar (they are easy, you can make an OX on a stick from XP/win.

  • You know when you rotate the cube, how do you change the background?

  • como instalo telcel 3G en linux 8.04??¿?¿?¿

  • What is all the hate on Ubuntu? I had been a Windows user all my life, and dual booted Ubuntu with Windows 7 a few months back. My Windows 7 had a problem where it got stuck at the boot screen. Luckily I had Ubuntu, so I could still use my computer

  • @james227uk Did you fix it? becouse i can help you

  • @wachuneed

Thanks for the offer, but I fixed it. I just reinstalled Windows 7

  • @james227uk ok,but whenever you need ANY computer help let me know!!!

  • @wachuneed i need help learning which version of linux to install on vista.....im want to try this OS every one is talking abt....can u help?

  • @hustla404 So you need help to install the OS?or do you need help picking a Linux flavor(version)?

  • @wachuneed picking a linux version for both vista and win7

  • @hustla404 Uhh what do you mean like that.Dual-Booting vista, windows seven, and linux?if so just install ubuntu over vista cuz vista sucks ball!(:

  • @wachuneed wat abt win7? can i run unbuntu virtually on it

  • @hustla404 yes.

you can use also a live cd or usb key where you can taste without any installing.

  • kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • beryl was better

  • @kris200998 Agreed and more stable too lol

  • @kris200998 so how much does beryl cost?

  • @kris200998 no offence, but beryl is outdated now. beryl was a lot more user friendly though.

  • i can make steps between workspaces but how to make like in 0:53 ???

    thelord_813@yahoo

    mail me how :):)

    thanx

  • @hereguy813

control - alt - mouse1 drag is the default i think, but you need to have a certain plugin activated

  • how do you rotate the cube up

  • hola, que tarjeta de video usas?

  • what effect is the explosion of colors when you close windows?

  • ubuntu got the best aero

  • how do i get the 3D Flip thing that is cool as hell looking

  • u can get it by just simply downloading Compiz from the Ubuntu download center then enabling what you want to.

  • @BankruptMonopoly Compiz already comes installed with ubuntu when you install it. What you mean is, people need to download the CompizConfig Settings Manager, or simple-ccsm, which ever one the like best.

  • I have installed UBUNTU 9.10 FROM THE UBUNTU 9.10 SITE IT CAN AUTOMATICALLY INSTALL YOUR FLAVOUR RIGHT NEXT TO WINOWS XP VISTA 7. IT ASKS IF YOU WANT FULL INSTALL OR WHEN YOU REBOOT YOUR SYSTEM IT SAYS UBUNTU OR WINDOWS Y USE UP DOWN ARROWS AND BOOT TO WHATEVER ONE YO WANT TO PLAY WITH. ITS GREAT FOR PEOPLE TO PRACTICE IN YOUR OWN TIME. YOU CAN THENM LEARN TO MAKE YOUR UBUNTU LOOK AND ACT EXACTLY LIKE OS X LEOPARD SNOW TIGER WHATEVER. PRETTY SWEET. FASTER MORE STABLE KICKS WINDOWS 7 AND OSX ASS

  • What are Leopard, Snow, and Tiger?? I know what OS X is, but what you are saying is I can make Linux run like many different operating systems?? I'm not familiar with Linux

  • @DMPKillaz you trollin'

  • How in art and productivities name does any of this fancy pansy shit help anyone get any work done. Computers are for serious use most of the time not getting a boner how pretty it looks. WTF!!!. Where did this notion that as long as a system looks and acts glamorous in the users eyes is going to increase productivity. Any and all system enhancement should go into stability and increased speed on how a system does a task.

  • Sounds like you hate the MaC too, I know its price doesn't make up for its looks. But people buy anyway. So is life.

  • u know its cool!

  • @eisnil yes it is cool. i have it all anyway but still i stand by me original statement. I just have it because its their.

  • haha. in that case it does actually help me stay more organised...which means more productive. what do u mean you were testing us on our response, i would of expected a bunch of ass holes to comment, neither one of us were...so you work on computers...is there any way i can pick your brain on some things?

  • @teslaglobal AHHHH FUCK YAS ALL LOOKS LIKE THE LINUX UBUNTU CROWD IS GETTING A LITTLE BIT WINDOWS ATTITUDE. REMEMBER OPEN SCOURDE OPEN OPINION. PLEASE DON'T EVER FORGET THIS. I WAS TESTING YOU. AND GOT THE RESPONSE I EXPECTED. OPEN OPEN OPEN YOUR MIND NOT CLOSED. TAKE ALL OPINIONS ONBOARD SO MANY DISTROS SO MANY THAT CAN BE BOUGHT TOGETHER TO MAKE THE BEST OS IN THE UNIVERSE. APPLE AND MAC WOULD NOT STAND A SHIT OF A CHANCE AGAINST THE POWER OF OPEN SCOURCE.

  • You trollin' bro?

  • IF IT WERE TO ASK FOR A DOLLAR FOR EACH INSTALLATION IMAGINE THE RECOURCES AND DEVELOPEMENT. ONTOP OF WHAT WE ALREADY HAVE. I KNOW DROVES OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE COME TO LINIX FUCK 19 OUT OF 20 SYSTEMS I BUILD I without even asking make a linux partition and install what i call a emergency free system to my customers computers they think its a great idea end eventually use it full time regarding MS abdothers as a wast of money. seriosly just do it people cant help themselvs but tinmker. then learn.

  • @teslaglobal so are you saying cars should only be used to drive to and from work? No using them for any other purpose, and they're not allowed to look great. A damn you if you like good design and it brings you joy.

  • it's easier to demo pretty shinies in a youtube video than backends

  • wow it sucks but i love that square thing like windows should really steal that like mad but il stick with 7

  • /me faceplams.

  • You are a Windows power user now?

  • >it performs not so well in the GUI department.

That's probably due to a misconfigured system, usually by user error.

Other than that. Linux follows the KISS rule in the GUI department, making it fast and easy to use.

  • If you want to install any Linux distro there is a lot of How to videos on youtube this are realy advance OS's but don't let that scare you if you want to have a system like this all you need is time and patience...

  • hum cool but how u make the effect wehn the window dissapears?

  • can i install linux as a optional OS along with windows in one laptop ?? if so ... wont one of them try to convert the other's files into its own ?? and erase existing files ? help me out here..

  • if you do your setup correctly, the Linux OS will install on it's own partition, and you should have no file loss.

  • you should be able to install an Linux OS in a separate partition, and you will not have any conflict.

  • thanx mate....

n btw...hw do u get this version of linux ..?

the one shown in the vid...wid all the graphics ?

  • You download Ubuntu Beryl. I'm pretty sure it's sudo apt-get install beryl

But not sure, the program is called beryl though

  • Beryl has merged with Compiz, and so you would start by installing Linux, in this case I suggest Ubuntu, and then you would install Compiz Fusion, which is the new name of the program that does all the eye candy stuff in the vid above

  • You can have a dual-boot machine, that is you install Linux side-by-side with windoze and when the puter starts it will ask you if you want to use windoze or Linux.

For your laptop, I suggest Ubuntu Karmic Koala. And no, it won't interfere with your crappy windoze, it will run side-by-side with it and Linux doesn't need to convert your windoze files, Linux can pretty much work with most of your windoze media, pictures, vids and docs.

  • I have windoze and Linux both running on my laptop and it works just fine. I have two partitions on my hard disk and the two systems share the drive. It's called dual-boot, message me and I will send you all the info you need, none of this is going to cost you a dime either, Linux is all about being free.

  • does having linux really decrease how well your computer works, if you have like good stats and stuff on your computer (high ram good memory/video card etc)

  • @teentrunks4 a lot of the time the computer works better with linux, because it generally uses up less of your processor.

  • @teentrunks4 I don't think so.Linux is about to revive my dads really old Laptop. Its actually better.

  • but what im trying to say is, if i have good ram and etc on my computer can i still play games with linux? or will i need to switch back to windows to play the games

  • no of course not! I dont think any operating system can "decrease" or "increase" the specifications of your computer. You cannot "download" more RAM lol. but you can purchase it. Linux usually runs better because it uses less of the computers processing power and resources.

  • LOL! No! Where have you heard such crap? :D

  • generally Linux requires less RAM, than other OSs, and will improve your computer's performance. however some games, and other programs you like may not work.

  • @teentrunks4 having linux increases how well they perform. GNU/Linux pwns ass! :D

  • Linux might use less RAM, but it performs not so well in the GUI department.

  • I thought what i'd do was, i'd pretend i was one of those deaf-mutes

  • i am not a computer expert either, im a business graduate and i just give up my windows last october... right now i happy with linux... and theres no way i am going back with windows,

  • yup, Linux USED TO BE mainly for geeks and computer gurus but in the last few years, its become even easier than Windows to install/use. by typing two simple commands into a terminal, i can update EVERY SINGLE piece of software on my computer to the latest available versions. on windows, you have to search the internet for the latest .exe files and after uninstalling your old version, you have to run separate wizards for every single program you want to update. thats not simple if you ask me.

  • Comment removed

  • wouldnt these need quite a bit of ram if ur usin cube thingo

  • not really all theses effects were made to take up as little ram a possible the will even work on 512mb of ram nicely.

  • To add to you're point. I can run all Beryl visual effects on an old test PC running Ubuntu 8.1. The specs were:

    CPU: Pent 3, 1.4GHz

    Ram:256M/b

    GFX card: Nvidea 6200

The only effects that use more then 15MB of ram are the cube and particle stuff, and even an old light weigh gfx card can run them.

  • where linux is harder? It's just different!

  • Vulnerabilities, hidden undocumented services, black code, am an IT pro, yet unable to control my own Windows desktop. True Linux is comparatively more difficult for the professional, yet it is my preference on issues like security, transparency, not to mention procurement costs.

Those who still prefer to feed an oligopoly, which in fact is extremely aggressive against their own customers, that is people like you and me, please be my guests and keep microsofting.

There is no way back for me

  • True Linux should not be difficult if you are a professional. I'm a freelancer and I can use it just fine.

  • what's the plugin with the multi-color when he closes a window called?

  • its the fire plugin. just go to the additional animation settings plugin and, under fire, select "random colours"

  • Linux<3

Need to suport it to get rid of microsoft crap ^^.

  • КЛАССНО)

  • I have to admit that does look pretty fucking impressive

  • is free¿?

  • hell yeah

  • YES :)

  • The best OS is the one you know. You can say Linux is better, but 80% of the population don't agree. Even if 80% of the porn they watch is on a linux server :). But anywho, not everybody wants the Linux "freedom", because not everybody has the patience, or the time to learn it, to configure it. So, if you Linux boys want to kill MS, make a version that is user friendly, maybe configured for different people, if not, then Linux will still be for the few ones who understand it.

  • i agree with you

80% of porn videos are stored on linux machines , therefore we must support linux

    LINUX FTW!

  • Servers are client agnostic, so do we really care what a server is running as we are only clients?

  • well we cant know :D

but IT IS known that the best servers use linux , so do supercomputers

and seriously if i would have an server i wouldnt use the crappy windows server , linux is way better

  • In my house I would rather use Windows as a server, because it is less of a pain in the ass. I also don't feel like messing with Samba. Shit is a pain in the ass.

But a webserver? Might as well use Linux. It is free and easy to use for that.

  • i dont think many people have an home server , rather an home network

and yeah windows might be better for very small stuff

  • its userfriendly for the normal uses. just like windows is, just you run into people doing stupid things as they would do on windows

  • Linux is user friendly, you go to terminal and type this

    sudo aptitude update.

    sudo aptitude full-upgrade

every piece of software installed will be updated/upgraded..

now in windows how much time you lost in searching for those updates to the latest version?

  • If it is so easy why did you get the command wrong?

It would be "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade".

Not so easy is it? In real operating systems just ask if I want to update when launching the application.

  • HAHAHAH...

No i did not... i think you should research more... or you give it a try first before you tell me Im wrong... OK! thats the beauty of Linux you can choose what command you like or comfortable to use..

    Try it first ok?

  • Comment removed

  • or you can simply type in the terminal $ man aptitude (press enter)

  • aptitude [ options ] [ remove | hold | purge | markauto | unmarkauto | dist-upgrade ] packages...

There is no full-upgrade, bro. If it is so easy why were you doin' it wrong?

  • bro, did you read the manual till it finish? bro i tell you ive done this a lot of times. you try it first before you complain, then you tell me im wrong, You know what i think? you dont use linux, your just googling and copy what google tells you, and guess what? its not healthy coz your just copying.

    "Experience is the best learning."

  • full-upgrade- Upgrades installed packages to their most recent version, removing or installing packages as necessary. This command is less conservative than safe-upgrade and thus more likely to perform unwanted actions. However, it is capable of upgrading packages that safe-upgrade cannot upgrade. Now its your time to shine baby, you try it ok..

  • You must have a very low IQ if you cannot get a linux distro to work. I admit 10 yrs ago I had problems configuring drivers to run within linux but no more. Bro its straight forward today. I use the command line very little and most of the time it does what its suppose to do automatically. Thumbs up for linux and a thumbs up for wine.

  • can someone tell me how can I activate that drawing thing on the desktop? I have NO idea how to do it...

  • To the guy who said 90% of the world uses Windows; You're an idiot. It's been well below 90% since Nov 2008. Would you like to do the statistics on how much of the Internet that you troll is Linux based? Almost your entire Internet experience is brought to you by Linux. Your WAP/Router is a reworked linux kernel for embedded systems, the router that you connect to at your ISP, as well as the firewalls, NATs, and finally, the servers that host the pages that you act like an ass on, all Linux.

  • @cnoyes82

In almost all measures, Windows is about 92-93%.

  • i think that cnoyes82's argument is that linux is better but windows is still the most popular os out there. average joes just like proprietary rather than open source, or freedom.

  • @GenuineReplica

Linux is better? I used it for 10 years and came to the conclusion it was rather . . . not so much better, more aptly described as crud.

  • linux being better was cnoyes82's claim not mine. i would say that the best computers are from apple because it can support my favorite os, mac os x, and can bootcamp to run windows getting the best of both worlds. linux is more consumer specific, mainly for programmers or hackers. i wouldnt say that its crud, its more not your style...

  • Have you used Linux lately? Some distros are setup to be as easy to use as OS-X. But more customizable than it or Windows. There's a distro to fit every user's needs, skills & even love of eye candy.

In fact, many OS-X aps, engines & API's were borrowed from Unix/Linux/Clone base. Take your Safari Browser. It's built on KDE's Konqueror Web Browser engine (Webkit) project like Google's Chrome Browser. Other aps are rooted in Unix/Linux as well.

    OpenGL API's Began on Unix/Linux. Quartz=X11 base!

  • i only live cd'd it a couple of times. i need to make room on my HDD to install it though. hey, i never hated on linux. but linux is better suited for programmers rather than average consumer.

im getting used to linux and learning terminal commands and such. if you read my last comment, it was in favor of linux.

  • Linux is the silent worker who just does his job. Few of these peeps realize how pervasive Linux/Unix & Open Source are on the World's Power Computing grids.

That over 90% of the HPC Server & Cluster World runs Linux. From the most powerful Super Computer to your banks, stock exchanges, science, medicine and the Web is served on Apache/Linux.

The most powerful, most widely distributed set of API's isn't DX. It's OpenGL on 90% of Cell Phones, every PC , Mac & Unix/Linux machine uses it :D

  • is ubuntu free?

  • Not if you find your time valuable.

  • So in that sense Windows is even more expensive. Because it took you just as long if not longer to learn to use a Windows OS than it will take you to learn a Linux OS. As long as you go at it with the idea that things are done differently.

Instead of saying "Linux isnt as good", please just be honest and say "Im not as good with Linux".

    -Jessica-

  • Another person assuming they know Linux better than me. I agree ten years ago Linux was a pain in the ass, I remember fighting and fiddling with the system for months to get one damn program installed.

But were talking about Linux now. And how often do you change color depth? Things have changed a lot since those days my friend. So many basic users I've helped have no problem adapting to Linux. So I don't get your point.

    -Jessica-

  • Some games require 16bit color. I suppose one could use Xnest and set the color-depth to 16bit. Why should I have to? I should be able to just change the depth. Running Xnest is a pain, so I refuse to do it.

  • PS. I said for 10 years. Not 10 years ago. I know how Linux works now, and if anything it just got more of a pain as they tacked on more bits to make it user friendly. Now-a-days Linux is a giant hacked together hackfest.

Some things I like alot though: CUPS, KDE, busybox

    oh yeah.

  • Yeah I can see that as being a pain, I haven't ran into a game like that but that would be an annoyance. Xorg could use some modifications. I haven't tried to change the color depth so I can't really comment much more on that.

Really I've had a few annoyances from time to time but nothing major problem that a giant hackfested system would cause.

I have to get back into KDE sometime. I kind of broke away for a bit after KDE 4 came out.

I just don't see it as behind, difference of opinion.

  • KDE4 came out on my birth day. Such a disappointing bday "gift". To be honest when I do use Xorg, I just use TWM. I have largely replaced Linux with OS X for my desktop Unix needs.

    Ever use OS X much?

  • Sadly no. I do wish to try OS X out one day, But sadly I've been pretty broke for awhile.

I do like KDE 4 but... Sometimes I want a little lighter system. That's why I currently use XFCE.

I loved KDE 3.5.10 on Slackware so much, but got into Arch after some time. I know Linux isn't perfect but I just get annoyed at all the random attacks it gets. I don't have a problem with Windows or Mac. I just wish people would simply calm down.

    -Jessica-

  • Think of them as constructive attacks. It will attention to problems and hopefully modernize Linux in very important ways. I like Linux, but I think it gets more praise than it deserves simply because it is the underdog.

  • I agree. You do handle it better than most. Linux doesn't need general attacks, it needs clear and focused issues to deal with. If you speak over generalities than you get no-where.

That's just what I think. So yeah I defend Linux hard, until we come up with a way to fix something or realize that it isn't a issue at all.

  • If you HAVE to change color depth why not create dummy user with X server settings that you need? Toggle with alt+ctr+F7/F9 should not be so beyond your abilities :-)

  • I shouldn't have to type a command to get X to start on X screen 1. That is just stupid. BTW, when I used Linux I use Xnest to accomplish this.

You are making fun of my skills when you don't use xnest? Jeez.

Now with real operating systems I just compile the code and run it, and X automatically starts with the correct color depth. If it doesn't and the program refuses to work, I just change the depth in a drop menu. No restarting anything is required.

  • Fun? No I dont make a fun of you. I just wanted to point easy way to solve problem with X server settings. And answer is "no". You dont have to type any command IF you have right tool installed.

I wander, why ppl use Ubuntu? This distribution is so weak compared to others.... But still it is fairly simple to install apps from other distros.

  • @ismouton It took me 20 to boot up to learn it. To me, every os is basically the same, there is a menu for selecting programs and usially a kind of taskbar to select your open windows

  • The menu's are all fine and dandy, but Ubuntu lacks many important GUIs.

  • @ismouton. Such as?

  • @KillerKabel

    X11.

  • Oh, what parts of the GUI does it lack. Just GUIs to configure many of the programs.

Want to change the X11 color depth for a single program? Either hit up the command line (Xnest) or change the Xorg.conf and reboot X11.

Want to configure Apache? Edit the conf files.

Want to change pam.d? Edit the conf files.

Want to change the way sudo behaves? Edit the conf files.

Want to change the color of the terminal? Edit the conf files.

  • You've got a problem with gettin your hands dirty? Boy?

  • Eding conf files are not an efficient use of time. Don't kid yourself and think it is.

Why would anyone want to edit conf files?

  • It's quick when you know what you're doing. Something I have yet to see you prove.

You didn't answer my question: Do you have a problem with getting your hand's dirty?

I think you do. It's so obvious

  • Clicking a checkbox vs. typing in the path to the conf file and checking to see how variables must be defined in the conf file and then typing in the value, and rebooting the program (no instant changes with text files).

Yes conf files are totally faster, and are clearly the future.

  • @ismouton - Why to edit configs? B/c it saves lot of time. Some programs are more complicated some are simple. Those simple ones can be managed by GUI, and nothing wrong with it. But scripting can automate lot of tasks in one line, when to do the similar thing with GUI you have to click to each option, input data (ip address you want to block on firewall), click "apply" billion times.

Learn it and you'll know WHY :-)

  • In Windows there is a GUI and you can automate tasks with registry imports.

In Linux sometimes there is a GUI and you can sort of automate configuration tasks with a script that parses text config files one line at a time.

    What sounds better/easier? You decide.

  • @ismouton :-) I prefer to have both :GUI and console-) And I don't like registry jungle. In Linux for ex. you can easily manage desktop configurations from GUI, same with network, security, sound - you name it... But still you can set those things to the last pixel though config files. You can do it so precisely that in Windows you can't even dream of.

  • I have used Linux for 10 years, so I know this shit.

And all settings are stored in the registry or ini files (almost all registry). You just don't know your shit, if you can't configure it.

The registry is superior to /etc because it is consistent. There are so many different styles of config files; it is retarded.

  • I didn't say I don't know how to configure registry. I said I don't like it! Just like you don't like .confis in /etc, right? Device manager in Linux? First of all - which Linux? I have very nice GUI manager and lot of other system management tools with graphical interface. Yes, some times you have to restart X. So what? Session will be restored. And how often you HAVE to change color depth? Size and synch is done without X restart.

Win you have REBOOT every patch-day.

  • Linux still does not have a GUI comparable to Window's device manager, or even the display settings.

Want to change the color depth? Gotta restart X. Hell yes the future is now with Linux; it just happens to look like Windows 10 years ago.

    PS. Windows has a console.

  • Isn't it thinkable that, maybe, GUI's for powerful things have been left out?

Just throwing out the first argument that comes to mind.

  • true...GUIs are desired. But there are those who make do without.

I've got a buddy who communicates via terminal based chat.

  • irsii is nice but technically it is a GUI. kthxbai

  • So colors in the terminal is powerful?

  • @ismunton. It can be, if you fuck them up, and you end up with black text on a black background.

  • yeah, you don't want to do that.

  • I think that after those 10 years with Linux you stayed in 1999.

You can easy change lots of X-server settings through GUI. Even if you have to restart it you don't need to terminate whole system.

Apache - yes, there are GUI tools for web server.

pam.d - first, how many normal users need to change authentication settings? -if they know what they're doing. Second - use pam-config. Same thing with sudo (does Windows have sudo?)

Terminals color - can you be more specific? Settings>edit profie

  • Might as well restart the entire system; almost anything running on a desktop system of any importance to me is going to be running as a child of xinit.

So there are tools to configure Apache (duh), but they are not consistent with the other configuration tools on a Linux system.

    > first, how many normal users need to change authentication settings?

    Normal people don't run Linux.

    >does Windows have sudo?

Does Linux have UAC or the Windows version of Run as?

  • @ismouton If for you restart X = restart OS then you don't need Linux. I chose it for many reasons such security (iptables), web server, samba, mySQL, CUPS... etc - those services DON'T need X running. On top of it I can enjoy nice GUI, and my wife can use it pretty much same way as Windows box.

Linux doesn't need crap such UAC :-)

  • Sudo and UAC are one in the same; that was my point.

So you really enjoy using your PC for the 2 seconds X11 is restarting? I bet you get tons of mySQL database work done during that time. My point was (since you are obvious a flaming Linfag) is that I don't want to have to save my work and restart X. I am sure most of the shit you do on a day to day basis is a child of X.

Yes yes I know I could detach all the programs I don't want to die during the restart of X, but there is no reason.

  • @ismouton SQL is running and can be used by other users on LAN. Same thing with other services. My need to start a game (hehehe) should not disturb them. I know, it looks like a flame, but let me say it this way: Every system is good for something else. For me Linux is better then Windows or OS-X. For you it is opposite.

Shell - how often do you need to change colors? If it is so important for you why not to make script with gdialog or kdialog in KDE.

  • What can Linux do that OS X can't?

  • @ismouton OSX is very nice. You can port almost every app from Linux to it. But OSX has very closed mentality. It runs only on specific hardware so it is not flexible as PC based box.

But back to your question: Mac can't save you money. So it does almost same for higher price :-) And one more thing - even Darwin is open-source but GUI and applications are not.

  • The GUI is why I prefer OS X. It just works so much nicer than X11. It is almost identical to Linux in every way other than that.

  • Not confuse the hell out of Windows Power Users. DUH.
