Of course, the federal government should spend until the private sector take over and unemployment is reduced. The Republicans know this and are still pushing for deficit reduction. Why? I'm thinking that their corporate backers want a high rate of unemployment to push wages down even more. I'm not in favour of pork barrel spending though, which is misallocation of federal funds. Let's see a really huge infrastructure program.
