I think apart from her jumps the judges felt her in-between skating skills were not comparable to Nancy or Oksana (edging, flow, etc.) but otherwise Surya had improved dramatically by Lillehamer.
I totally agree she should have been placed second, and this was the best SP that Bonaly has done. She had speed, and artistry with this program. I love the footwork sequence the best....
What a magnificent short program! On the other hand, I wish she would've had the same focus, discipline and structure in her long programs as she did in her short programs. She would often "wing it" and improve greatly! Sometimes that ended up hurting her. A great example would be her sp vs long program at the 98 olympics. Damn right she should've been 1st or 2nd that night... I am still amazed at the judges love affair with that girl from Ukraine.
@mlc2005 I agree. I think the judges might have taken some points off for the spins as the layback was centered very well and I don't think she did enough rotations when she switched feet on her combination spin. But Verne Lundquist's word definitely rings true: radiant. She was beautiful and that triple lutz was enormous.

Her best short of all time, imo. This was the most exciting for me, and should have been second over Baul's!
