The Mugen Civic Dominator is a serious FWD performer. Period. HP/TQ is at acceptable levels with CRAZY performance to boot. Reviews on that car say it feels almost neutral to drive. That's one hell of a car.

also, there are honda 4 cylinders that have good torque bands. and max numbers making more torque than horsepower, or the same. theres a civic 2.2L with 138hp 250tq. the k23 is a 2.3L that makes 240/260 turbocharged. theres some of the lower model k24's with 160/160, 160/162. theres plenty more motors like that, and its not just peak numbers. their torque curves are actually nice. and blowers create a really good torque curve. so that would fix it even if it didnt have a nice curve

The K23 that has the 260hp/260ft-lbs is the RDX engine.

The Honda 4 cylinders w/out VTEC actually have a better TQ curve than the ones w/VTEC.

There is a moment when all of the power is dropped, then gained with a VTEC 4 cylinder while the VTEC-less ones don't suffer from that issue & actually make better for boosted engines. And it doesn't matter if you're boosted or N/A. Neither one should be looked down upon as they are 2 totally different approaches.

You're not factoring the TQ it takes to move the vehicle. TQ is seriously important & boosted cars will always produce more TQ than N/A cars. And stock boosted cars like the Cobalt SS, SRT4, & WRX/STi have very minimal lag. The gearing is important as you have said but the SRT4 has nice low 3 gears for the track & 2 long gears for the straights. The same for the Cobalt SS. And the Mugen RR 4 door is 2400+lbs, the Cobalt SS is 2700lbs. I checked them out. HP gives you the straights & that's all.
