When Michelle Yeoh's character says, "don't you dare touch it--that's Li Mu Bai's sword," the implied meaning is a sexual one. The sword is a phallic, masculine symbol. That's why she's so upset, because she loves Li Mu Bai and Zhang Ziyi's character is disrespecting her by tacitly acknowledging that, despite wanting to kill him, she is also attracted to his power. Even the choice of word ("muo") is telling, as it can mean "to caress" or "to stroke."
