  • for all the stupid ppl out there, I play hockey regulary and I ski 4 weeks a day during the entire ski season, i was very skeptical about this machine too when i first saw this and thought this was a "women" machine, i tried it for 30 minitues with a personal trainer and after that all my muscles ached such as after a long day of skiing, sooo try first, comment after in my personal experience this is a serious workout machine to stay healthy and fit, not to become a mastadon

  • I have tried it now for 6 months with my regular training program.(5 days strength training,4 days cardio training) And i would not buy this machine. But i did give it a fair chance. Maybe for a massage, but not for any training.

  • It does work. The technology is quite simple actually. Imagine standing on an old fashioned balance board. As the board leans one way the muscles in the leg will contract to stop you falling off. Thats what the plate does, but on a ridiculosly fast scale, yes- upto 50hz , 50 muscular contractions per second.

O.k a basic resistance exercise recruits 30% of the fibre (mainly fast twitch). Leaving 70% unrecruited,. The plate recruits 98% of muscle fibre.

  • I lost 12kg within half a year of using the plate twice a week for ten minutes. I still use it and I am holding my weight. It won't work for untrained "fat" people though as you have to work with tension and have to be able to control single parts of your body. It is energyzing, strengthening and it increases your metabolic rate. Recommendable to anyone who is open to try something new... that actually works!

  • Have no idea about the whether it helps reduce fat, I work out regularly at a gym so haven't used it for that, but it has done wonders for my knee which I damaged years ago.For the sceptics, at least have the decency to try it before knocking it.

  • "You can stand on this plate for 30 seconds to a minute and you can get some cardiovascular, full body workout in 8 to 10 minutes."

Incredible!!!! Those old coin-operated, vibrating hotel beds must have been great workout machines! (Hah.)

    I remain very skeptical.

  • wow, another piece of technology that fat people can use and fail at, then claim that they tried so hard. get off the couch and do some hard graft !

  • @GODLIKE20000 Its not like that. It recruits more muscle fibre than a basic resistance exercise. The idea is you actually exercise on it- Never "just stand" dynamic exercises on the plate recruit 98% of the muscle fibre it wont get you Big, it will work you harder though.

  • so y r most of the fox news watchers obese apart from being rednecks?

  • A study was conducted at the University of Antwerp, Belgium and presented at the 17th European Congress on Obesity (ECO) Simple enough to search and read the full article.

  • There is not one credible study published in a peer-reviewed journal that supports this carp. Save your money and buy some runners and get off the sofa. Buyer Beware!!

  • This is EXACTLY the same thing that women did with their abs in the 1930's, and that didn't work either.

For therapy this MAY be good, but for fat loss, endurance, or muscle building, it is total CRAP.

  • Vibration therapy is amazing, this is a great article

  • bull crap!! I know this WORKS!! i did yoga for an hour then power plate for 20 min, and used my pp time to the maximum. it made me lose 20 lbs in 1 month.

  • its NOT for healthy people

    /thread

  • free weights.

  • i am a student and i have started it since 1 week and it is really cool! i live in Greece and this machine is really helpful! it's not for lazy people... and it's not as easy as it seems.. try it and you will see... a good solution for everyone that don't have much time to exercise....

  • this is paid

  • Anyone work out how much damage it will make to your brain floshing around in a vibrating fluid?

  • It's still relatively new to the US. In France alone, there are over 100 Power Plate studios, ranging from 1 to 30 plates. It's a fad that will stick just like Spinning. It's awesome for Rehab, chiropractors, fibromyalgia, osteoperosis, flexibility, the list goes on. Not to mention, the original Power Plate was designed to train Olympians. So it's good for the general public, people with severe disabilities, and advanced athletes. WOW!

  • Lazy Americans? This doesn't make Americans look good???? I was skeptical at first.

However, This technology has been around for ages. Russian cosmonauts were the first to really start tapping into it. It's used to reverse the effects of zero gravity in space. So they are able to regain bone density and lean mass more efficiently when they return home. I have a bulging disc in my lower back. I use it 3-4 times a day. Here's the kicker. I use it for strenght training too. Now I'm a believer!!!

  • stupid gimmicks.. such crap.

go to a real gym and lift weights. run, swim, climb, play a sport..

  • what's wrong with running lard arses!

  • running's great but can be tough on the joints

  • i always warm up in powerplate and it works great!! (-:

  • And this reply doesn't make your IQ look too god either.

  • I gues its cool but takes the fun and hard earned work out of being in shape. People are too lazy now a days. If it helps with injury thats cool though.

  • this is true but just imagine the benefits if you actually worked out while using this, if these guys are getting in shape solely off of this. what it basically does is help you contract muscle groups very fast, so virtually ANY athletic sport can potentially benefit with this if one were creative enough.

  • When they can make a vibrating power chair for $60 - I'm in.

  • woop... w have 1 of those things at my school in the gym... and its well wierd... if you sit on it... it feels like ur ass is gonna fall off... :P it rocks!!!

  • I am a Chiropractor in Manhattan New York, I recently added the Power plate to my practice.

I believe it is an excellent adjunct to a spinal rehab program. I use it for patients that are in their secondary stage of rehab after dealing with spinal disc herniations.Visit my site

  • this is no device for lazy people!!! you do your work out in static positions.. through the vibrations your muscles start to contract up to 50 times per second.. you get sweat & sore... i do it twice a week for about 15-20 minutes.. its awesome

  • This is pathetic. The fact that this product sells speaks volumes about the increasing laziness of Americans (and humans in general.) "Just stand there and we'll do your workout for you!" It's sad.

Lift some heavy shit, run fast, jump high, eat right, sleep, wake up, do it again. That is how you get in shape. END OF STORY.

  • Some people are injured and can't do that. It was demonstrated on a 80 year old lady. =/

  • you can also have dynamic training. most of the NBA players, football (soccer) players work out on power plate. it's definitely not for lazy people, cause you can sweat like a pig, you're muscles increase in three weeks if you work out 3 times a week... it's great. try it first, than judge it :)

  • How do you know NBA players use it if you show me a clip i would appreciate it (or are you just saying something for no reason like many others on youtube) thanks

  • what's pathetic is how you failed to realize that the target audience for this product are athletes of any level and people who are old and as a result have difficulty exercising

  • Thank you for posting this videotape, the newsreader's last word was; not suitable for JOINT REPLACEMENT people.

    Thanks.

    Go Anne.

    del.

  • I traveled to Miami to use this twice. LOVE IT !!!

15 minute workout, muscles were very sore the next day. You work up a sweat, but feel GREAT !!!
