  • This change is really getting on my nerves.. A perfect example of useless use of JavaScript!

  • Hello, I'm slightly complaining, but not crying over it, no big deal but i believe it is a big deal for the people like us; who use google, like a 100times a day. it does get rather annoying and i do get pissed sometimes. especially when I'm @ school and i need to quickly do something. its bad enough i have a touch mouse and a crappy mouse device that has no buttons on it, so really the whole google fade in effect bothers me, but only sometimes.

  • I hate it. Would love when they got it back to the way it used to be before.

  • Do not want, it looks horrible.

    Disabled tahnks to greasemonkey.

  • Hate it. Disabled it via Greasemonkey on Firefox.

  • goddamnit

  • i didnt like it :/

  • I must have a bug as mine never fades in. I have to search around in the white to find news/gmail. Very dumb design.

  • Its useless, i hate it, take it off!! WASTE OF TIME.

People use google because its simple and clutter free, no need for gimmicks such as fade in effects.

  • They are trying to make it look cool. Windows 7 fade effect is very cool because it's super quick.

Google fade needs to fade in more quickly, it's too slow...sometimes it hangs and sometimes - nothing, you have to move your mouse or reload the page.

Google won't listen to any of their users complain. because they are a big company and will do whatever they want.

Google home page fade-in effect -probably the worst idea in history of google.

  • Whoa!! slow down there, Can't take an opinion??...grow up!!

  • Daghead, your fucking gay! No class whatsoever! Brainless fuck

  • i loved google until now for keeping it simple. but the fade effect is just pointless and ads unnecessary delay if you want to check your mail.

i use google in 95% just to check my mail. and when you're doing it 50-100 times a day the fade effect really gets on your nerves

  • @quakeru Agreed...

    its not need at all...

they started to do many things since bing imposed a threat, they got confused and threatened, though there is nothing to fear.. no website will threaten the google empire unless something bad happens to goole

  • they're doing to it make more money, less distractions from searching unless the user moves the mouse, makes perfect sense

  • kill the fade effect with fire

  • and me as a german wants to search in english google from time to time too. so i have to wait for the "google in english" button showing.

  • yep, germany hates this thing, too. it consumes 2 seconds of my important surfing time every single time i want to search for something.

    TURN THIS OFF NOW!!

it's only sexy for 45 old housewives who surf for the first time.

  • The Greasemonkey script to turn off the annoying fade is named "Google Minimal-Minimalism". It works just perfect.

  • Their stated purpose is to keep users focus on the search box, but this does the exact opposite! The eye is instantly drawn to the motion of the fade-in effect. Also it introduces unnecessary delay while offering NO improved functionality.

    KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!

  • this fade shit sucks, i keep clicking on my bookmarkt when i want to go to google images SHIT!!!!

  • is it still fadeing ? i am worried if it its virus in my browser

  • Why are so many people crying about it? Who cares, it doesn't effect anything, so why get rid of it.

  • I think it's breathtaking.

  • STUPID GIMMICKY CRAP

it ain't broke so don't fix it Google...

  • It sucks it sucks it sucks

    turn it off

  • Although it is a tad pointless, I dont really see the big whoop in it, it doesnt slow anything down, all it does is just fade in...cant see why people would "HATE" it, i mean dont get me wrong I dont really care for it eather, but still...dont see the big whoop bout it.

  • its not good

    I dont like that

  • It sucks. Turn it off. I too thought that something is wrong with my browser.

Please turn it off. Google always been about efficiency and time saving not about looks.

  • here's the best and EASIEST way to get rid of it (for Firefox users):

    install the Stylish extension,

and then install this style script:

    userstyles (dot) org / styles / 23032

goodbye forever Google Fade, i wish we could say it's been nice :P

  • Stop being babies about it. It's really not a big deal. It takes <1 second to complete the fade, and you can still click links even when the opacity is at 0.

    Not a big deal. Really.

  • but do they really need it? at all?

  • ANYONE HAVE FACEBOOK?

join this group if you dislike it....

The Google "fade in" effect sucks! (join if you agree!)

(just search "google fade" if it dont come up ^^)

  • Google - always changing things that are fine.... (N)

  • HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT.. totally useless, someone at google needs to be fired for letting such a useless waste of time feature be integrated into google's HOME page none the less! Test that shit on a deep beta tech geek area of google, not on the MAIN page. It's slow, distracting, and seriously serves no purpose.

  • Pointless and distracting. I HATE IT. Sigh... maybe I use Google too much exclusively and it's time to use other ones. Stupid crap like this gets you thinking.

  • A step backwards if you ask me. Thought something was wrong with my rig.

  • PLEASE GOOGLE TURN OFF THIS ANNOYING FEATURE !!! I PROMISE I'll SWITCH TO BING IF YOU DONT TURN THIS OFF! :(((((

  • This really is not progress. It seems to make the page load slower and also makes me have to move my cursor and wait to see whether I am logged in, etc.

  • i thought i had fucking virus in my browser thank god its not

  • yeah same

  • I didn't think Google would waste time on things like that. I might agree that it looks 'fancy', but I never expected Google to do something just for the sake of 'fancy'-ness.

  • as a designer I can see that they're trying to simplify the page, but it's just confusing from a UI point of view. No good.

  • FUCK YOU GOOGLE. I can't believe you've done this. People should be marching on the streets against this shit. I managed to fix it though... I switched to Bing. Join my Facebook group "Google Fade-In Sucks So Much That I'm Moving to Bing"

  • this is fucking unneccesary. Waste of time.

Atleast they coud make it optional!

  • What we really ought to do is to start using another search engine and teach them a lesson. Does anyone know of a good alternative to google?

  • There is also a plugin to Firefox called NoScript which can disable scripts for a particular page. That is what I use now. I have simply disabled javascript for the google homepage.

I just think it is sad that the fools at google force us into doing such things to have the site look the way we want. It is nothing but a waste of everyones time.

  • Fail.

    :(

  • I couldn't stand this from the first moment I saw it. I thought something was wrong at first. Well, actually, something is wrong. Google wasted time on a fancy addition to their homepage which really doesn't add any benefits (even from a visual standpoint, in my opinion). I like Google for it's bandwidth-frugal home page... Please keep it that way, Google.

  • Add the following to the Google homepage address in your browser:

    #q=%0A

It calls the site you normally get after your search, and it doesn't have the fade in effect.

  • Nice

  • "Outstandingly Annoying" ... i couldn't have said it better myself.

  • Does anyone have a link to a greasemoney script that will remove this crap?

  • OMG That's the stupidest thing Google has ever done! For god's sake take it off Google!

  • Just adds few extra lines of code to google's startpage again...

  • very poor move by google

  • It's extremely annoying and I hate it.

  • Annoying as heck. Also lately sometimes my cursor doesn't end up in the input on page load occasionally.

So fix your shit, or I'll run to Ask, lol :P

  • oh ,,

i thought that a VIRUS or somethings like that

    :D

    it's so cool ..

n' ma pc speed have no effect :)

    so cool

  • jeah! thats so neat! :)

so google gets cooler and cooler

  • This just makes my work flow SLOWER. (To any Google employee out there.) I need those navigation links now, not when they feel like showing up a second or two later.

  • this is HELL, plz an option to disable it :'(

  • I got thrown in this "experiment" and I would hesitate anytime I wanted to search for something. I cleared my cookies and session data and it fixed it!

Now however, they have another homepage experiment, which has colorful buttons and the results page looks more like Bing's layout.

  • I do not like the fade in... HATE! FAIL!

  • Holy crap is this ever annoying me. Please get rid of it Google!

It may not be bothering some of you, but for those of us who perpetually have 10-50 tabs open at a time, it's drastically increasing the load time, also the window focus being hijacked leads to unfun results, esp. in IE8 when trying to use the address bar.

  • Yup, haven't even mentioned that, but that's totally true as well.

  • Fuck you Google. Fuck the shill comments as well.

  • Wow that's really awesome!

Oh wait no, not awesome, I mean stupid

  • haha

  • Very very veeeerrry annoying. Google, CHANGE THIS.

  • I'd rather a customizable theme.

  • To all the people saying this is minimalism at its best: there's nothing more minimalistic about it fading in, there's actually more going on now and it's a distraction. I have noticed it slowing my time down as well when I'm searching many things quickly. Very annoying, I hope Google rethinks this stupid idea.

  • this is fucking whoreable...

  • pretty stupid, I don't see the point. And put the button back while you're at it

  • this is a good idea! Faster loading, I never even use the buttons anyway!

  • Turn it off, or at least give me the option to do so myself if I so choose....

  • if you use firefox , you can use the greasemonkey extension to alter the script and disable the fading

  • Google rules. They are always looking for ways to make what they offer better. Bing is crap. Yahoo is useless. Why do they even bother to try to compete with google? :)

  • WHY GOOGLE, WHY????!?

  • Comment removed

  • If I knew you I'd buy you a beer.

  • Anyone else NOT able to see this effect in FireFox and Chrome? I only see it in IE 7.

  • Its annoying as hell. Trust me, appreciate what you have.

I've made a switch to Bing and I've not looked back.

  • How simple could it possibly get now? Unless they make the search box hidden you have to click it to make it appear, anybody know what I mean?

  • Google !!

    i love u ................

  • the lucky button stinks, and i hate it.

  • its so random

  • A**hole Google. I've been running virus and spyware checks on my computer for the past few weeks to try to figure out why my Google home page was appearing only in parts. Why the h*ll didn't they put some notice on their homepage about the test?!?? The Google geek test engineers behind the test need to start livin in the real world. Yes, I'm pissed at Google.

  • I hate having to move my mouse because I seldom use it to access google's features. This is stupid and should only exist as an option, I don't like having crap changed on me arbitrarily unless its a positive and beneficial feature. Eye candy doesn't always fly as far as programming goes.

  • Then just TYPE in the feature you need, in the adress bar just type in like mail.google to access mail, it's simple enough! Stop your bitching!

  • This thing is not using more bandwidth (a little bit maybe it's only a couple of lines of javascript) Personally it annoys me, a way to disable it is to get the firefox extension NoScript and enable it on googles homepage

  • wow. seriously lame. I thought I had some kind of malware/spyware/virus on my machine.

  • How dumb are you?

  • This is irritating beyond belief. It has no value. Gone are the days when Google used to be simple but effective. I'm almost considering stopping use of it altogether!

  • I like it. It ads interest. I can't believe people are complaining about having to move their mouse! ha!

  • how in gods name does one turn this bile off

  • This annoys me beyond description.

  • can some one tell how to get back the SEARCH BUTTON back on my google

  • If google continues these types of experiments I'll start using a different search engine. The public should never be guinea pigs for trying new programs unknowingly!

  • It's a stupid waste of time. I often go to Google for the GMail link, but now I have to move my mouse extra to get it.

  • You had to move it anyway to get to gmail, except that you used a ton of "tabs" to get to it.

  • Earlier, I memorized the mouse position for it and held it over before it loaded.

  • lol

  • why not just type gmail . com instead?

  • It takes aeons more time

  • This will not make me trust them enough now to use Google Chrome...

  • very nice

  • I hate it I hate it I HATE IT SO MUCH

    Too distracting, Slows me down!

This should go, or at least, add a disable feature!

Google, please, don't loose focus: K.I.S.S.

  • i love this new ui, it really speeds up the load time because you don't have to load the logo.

  • I hate this fading screen - you open a new window and then have to sit there and wait for the thing to fade in... put it back to the way it was - we don't want flash on the default page - people use google because they want to get away from flash and on screen adverts and graphics. I might just simply switch search engines to another company.

  • It's not flash. It is just javascript code. When you go on Google and you want to search you just type and press enter without anything around it. If you want something just move your mouse to the links at the top and they appear. I found this feature really good.

  • for the love of Internet please change it back. This new UI is so annoying! and I'm a huge fan of "Feeling Lucky"

  • It's sexy, you have to give them that. Does anyone actually press the search button anyway? I just press enter.

    Although what about Feeling Lucky?

  • I HATE IT!!! Google is my HOMEPAGE Goddammit! It is really annoying everytime I click on the internet icon (firefox) I get to see the Fade. If Google don;t stop this I will be changing my homepage and start using a different search engine.

  • just move your mouse and everything comes back. I don't understand what the fuss is about...

  • Bing is not bad

  • I use google because of its simplicity. It doesn't have flashing ads and other bullshit you don't need. I HATE THE FADE, STOP SCREWING WITH SHIT THAT WORKS.

  • Fade is too slow for users. Instead of fade, make the text light gray. Darkens when mouse moves over.

  • I don't like my neighbor,try with him,spear me

  • ehh

    i feeling lucky ?

  • Thank goodness someone wrote how to get my SEARCH BUTTONS back on the Google help page. It's so much easier for me to use that way~ I hated the fade-out thing too and now that's not happening anymore either. Please don't fix what ain't broke.

  • I want my Search Buttons back please! I also don't like the other stuff fading out. If it ain't broke- don't fix it. Google was the best but I'm about to look for a better, more consistent Search Engine.

  • Dont like it! ITS just worst!

  • no wonder- i was wondering where that search button went...

  • same here, i've added a video response. but i wonder why it happens only with my current Firefox profile and not with IE or other Fx profiles,

  • it is really not bad

  • I just bought Google. The fools didn't think their bar code meant anything but it did. Just like an item you buy at the store Google had the same thing.

  • hahahahaha!

  • haha nice one

  • OCT 7 WAS MY B-DAY !!!

  • ya think we give a fuck?

  • same here

  • Kanye (a user) said yahoo is the best search engine of all time. It reminds me of the VMA Awards. Where he interupted Taylor swift and he spoke on the wrong time.

  • BullS*** anywas whys the new google homepage thing a barcode?

  • On october 7th, the barcode was invented. So to commemorate that, Google changed the design to a barcode for a day. I personally think it's way cool they do that. If you want to find out more about why GOOGLE looks a certain way, click the logo of google and google will tell you what it's about.

  • Oh, sorry, it was patented on october 7th, it was invented 35 years ago, not sure on what date. Usually the design of google changes to commemorate certain dates.

  • your a gay fish

  • Scratch that; totally missed the fact Safari is being used in the video.

  • It's legit, but it seems to only happen while using Chrome.

  • fake

  • I bet that they have millions than you do and could pay for pussy.

  • Da Fux ?

  • Comment removed

  • i bet nobody working at google has ever gotten laid

  • okaay!? why is that?

  • Yahoo was the best search engine of all time.

  • imma let you finish, but google chrome has one of the best search engines of all time!

  • Comment removed

  • another segment of, useless knowledge!

  • flavorfulgames com

  • LOL, all I've got is a graphic "celebrating" the invention of the bar code.

  • There is no way this vid would have recieved 71,393 views with out a little aid from Youtube... sssschmucks

    M.C James G

  • It's extremely annoying.

  • i'm not feeling lucky because there's no more "I'm Feeling Lucky" .... D:

  • I DEMAND A RECOUNT!!!

  • cool but i always get this yhea its called LAG

  • what is the point of that? if the aim is simplicity, when you're writing your word in search box, whole screen will start to appearing already.

  • No more "I'm feeling lucky" : (

  • I like it.

  • It's real. It's happening to me right now.

  • that is COMPLETELY POINTLESS!

  • Firefox + Greasemonkey plugin + black google scripts = cool shit.

  • windows transitions are basic shtml >.> they been around for years i used to use the dissolve transition on my frames pages

  • fuck bing
