That looks so durable. It seems the keyboard is almost desktop like. I wish they would stop using the current black chicklet keys which are too shallow and clacky.
They briefly prototyped a 275mhz version of the kanga, even though it was already the fastest computer in the world when it was released. Anyway, If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for that kanga?
@Kalypso1323 the powerbook G3 is known to have the best keyboard feedback. i would suggest you to get a more recent version, like the pismo. Nowdays u can't really do that much with those machines..even just typing...it's way too slow.
@Kalypso1323 You're welcome, i just posted a vid of my Walstreet, which is quite ebtter than this Kanga, but still very poor in performances. Oh and witha Pismo, u can buy a G4 upgrade.
Does yours have a very noisy hard drive? Mine has the original hard drive (a 5-GB IBM Travelstar) and it is very noisy. I think it has bad bearings, 'cause even when it's just spinning -- not seeking -- it makes a very loud noise. And the noise doesn't stop until the hard drive platters spin down.
Macs have always been so advanced--especially the OS. I still have my Kanga too--I keep it so I can access older scsi media I still have. Great video.
@ultimatetaco3 I think you meant "older ones look nicer than the newer ones," I agree to a certain extent... I believe older ones looked WAY more utilitarian than the newer ones... Computers (mainly Apple), are becoming more "beautiful," and less "functional." I mean, compared to the Kanga, my MacBook Pro looks like it belongs in a museum.
@ultimatetaco3 I've never heard someone criticize the new models... but everyone has different taste in aesthetics. I actually like the one-piece trackpad; it's much cleaner looking, and way more user-friendly... have you ever tried using one? You'll wonder why we didn't think of this 15 years ago!
the lombard powerbook is actually the last to have the 30-pin scsi port that gave way to firewire on the pismo model and the cr-rom is also 20x actually
try classilla, it's a new browser for the classic mac os (i think 8.6-9.2.2), and it should be more compatible with modern sites than the original mozilla.
Very nice! The PowerBook G3 Kanga came out in early 1997. It was the first Mac to use the G3 processor, and it is the only G3 Mac to not support Mac OS 9.2 or Mac OS 10.

I love the mechanical eject systems of the old powerbooks.

@poetsguide Agreed, they were awesome. I believe they used a solenoid to spring the card out of the socket.

That keyboard looks amazing. I might just find one and use it exclusively for writing...
