If I've had this for 15 years, there is really no way to make this go away, correct? Do the stretches and exercises still help if you have had it that long?
This sucks you can't do anything about it "why u no play sports?" = it hurts like a bitch. " wow ur a baby u WERE the best " Did this happen to any of you guys!:( cool vid!
Im 22 and its never bothered me. I never really noticed it until my brother pointed it out saying "whats wrong with your knees?" but hey if it doesnt hurt me who cares.
I've had it for five years and I'm a sophomore in high school. It's really hard to train my squats and everything. Thumbs up for Osgood Schlatter's sucks.
wow, i literally could play soccer for a month, and i got the okay to play soccer, but my left knee randomly started swelling, im so glad i found this video so i dont have to wait another month
this disease really is terrible. You really can't do anything but rest to make it get 100 percent better and thats really hard for athletes like myself.
ps if someone has a funny lump on their knee and they tell you not to hit them in that knee, DONT DO IT. it hurts soooooo bad!!! i hate it when i ask ppl not to so they do it more. it hurts!
yeah... its typically boys that get this disease, but im more athletic than most girls. i got it the way most ppl do, but its also a hereditary thing in my family. i play soccer, and heck no not stopping!
I'm 14 I had this during my school finals for basketball and it was extremely painful, we ended up losing by a buzzer beater and it was all my fault because I couldn't run in the pain and left my man open for a shot:( this is horrible stuff.
im a girl.. and ive had this since 6th grade and im going into my sophmore year of highschool and still have it,.. im a swimmer and water polo player and they say swimming herlps but it doesnt..but nothing will stop me from swimming or playing water polo.
just wear a full leg cast for six weeks THAT DOES NOT MAKE ANNNYYYY PRESSURE to the knee and afterwards it should go away or at least the pain will be decreased
When i was a young kid I remember I went to the doctor for Osgood Schlatter. I told him my knee was hurting and if he had any advice. He looked at me and told me "you're not going to die from osgood schlatter's" That was all he said but he still charged our insurance 100 dollars too see me. Most doctors are such crooks and dont help at all for things like this. They'll just take your money.
@michaeldominguez9 I did bad exercise too( Air Alert 3) and I just got diagnosed with this desease and doctor said that I'll have to stop playing basketball for like 1.5 - 2 years.
very helpful. this doc knows what he is talking about. good footwear could be my problem possibly. but, it is usually more than 1 issue. stretching is key.
I have had this since 4th grade and im in 6th now my doctor said it would go away within about three months but it hasnt, any idea how long it would be till it goes away ?
I have had this since 4th grade and im in 6th now my doctor said it would go away within about three months but it hasnt, any idea how long it would be ?
I have this on both my knees. It started to appear when I was about 14 and I am 16 now and i still have Osgood-Schlatters. When do the lesions on my knee dissapear because they are extremely painful when accidentally hit and i go through 'spurts' of growth making my knees ache.
I had this really badly when I was younger. My knee would sort of pop and get stuck; the single most painful thing ever. Anyway, my legs are fucked now... :/
wish i had known this when i was going through the bad stages of osgood schlatters......i wore a brace on my right leg for 6-8 weeks and it corrected my right leg and was told it would correct my left leg as well...it didnt, know im 28 and have problems with my left knee
@Daichidapr0 is not for curing, is for preventing and deal with it, to cure it you need fist to stop stressing the muscle for a couple of weeks, then start some rehab to make your muscles stronger.
i had it in my right leg, now i'm cured, but i'm getting it in my left leg, is a lot less than my previous injury, but you still need to have complete rest.
@Daichidapr0 you're welcome dude, but if you keep playing it'll be harder and the rehab will take much longer, believe me, i was off the pitch for SIX MONTHS! :'( if you can still play, that means your condition is not as bad as mine was. but who knows, was hard a 6 months for me, i'm also a soccer sucker like you have no idea.
i had this in grade 7 and stopped sports, nowim 22 and into bodybuilding, its starting to flare up when i do legs and squats.. just wondering if it'll get better with training and weight increase or am i gonna have chicken legs?
i have had tons of pain with this. i had a football injury with a helmet straight to the knee and it was horriable. i aslso have this in both knees. im in basketball right now and just had practice where i fell straight on it. so basically im wearing knee pads now so hopefully it can help.
thanx man ive had osgood schlatter for 2 years and i dont know what to do im stilling running a five minute mile but no matter how much i train i can not run faster than that hopefully this will help
My 11 year old son has this condition. He is very active in sports. I purposely searched out on YouTube exercises to minimize the potential onset of pain or an attack. so, this is how we came about finding your video. I had him watch it and I will have him perform these exercises, before and after sports. Plus, I will upgrade his runners to search for a pair with high arch support. We will keep you posted of his progress via this medium. Thanks for the info.
@adamski895RS it sucks right? it sucks even more when your in gymnastics bc in gymnastics its better to start young like 5 years old but its harder when your older -.- gymnastics is VERY HARD.so yea :( i started when i was 4 they kicked me out bc i was to young to stay still xD then i went back when i was 10 i was very good till i got this -_- so i stoped after a year and a half of it this disease sucks SOO MUCH
Agree that stretching during a growth spurt will prevent Osgood-Schlatter's. However once you've got it, stretching will only make the active stage worse. Normal treatment recommended is rest and ice. Then wait 1-2 years to grow out of it. But if you want to get better in an average of 3 weeks, check out the 'Strickland protocol'.
