  • Alright first of all, this video is outlining the costs that will come out of our wallet...really?? How can you compare the dollar amount to the body count that texting while driving is racking up. Unbelievable. DON'T TEXT WHILE DRIVING! Check us out.

  • Yeah, I have read the article in the news that there are a couple of ladies that has already went to jail AFTER THE ACCIDENTS THAT THEY HAVE CAUSED by playing with the cellphone while driving. so, CELL PHONE AND DRIVING DON'T MIX PERIOD!!!!!!

  • My first thought is if you could slow everyone down a little, you might have less traffic. If everyone didn't follow so closely to the lead car in front of them, more accidents could be avoided. It's the distraction the phone causes that creates danger but more distraction is caused from eating and putting on your make up and disciplining the children then cell phones. I think special interest groups just want to tell you what you can and can not do and they over inflate the truth.

  • driving and sending sms is easy. no problem for me.

  • i'm driving everyfucking day 7/24

    and i see fuckers on the phone all the time! they cause accidents on the road! i never talk on the phone while driving! if some1 calls me i answer and tell to call me later... simple ...

  • Im sure 90% of the people who commented on this video have never wanted to get anywhere on time. I drive about and hour and 1/2 every day, and constantly see people on their cell phones get in accidents, and of course drive slow as hell. Please hear this, DONT DRIVE WHILE TALKING ON YOUR CELL PHONE. THIS INCLUDES TEXTING WHICH IS ABOUT 20X MORE DANGEROUS THAN TALKING!

  • slower speeds, less frequent lane changing, and longer distances between cars are all things that would make driving safer..

  • Not only that, they're saying that the slower speed consumes more energy -- haven't we been told to slow down and save gas for what, thirty-five years?

  • Hi, ScienCentralNews, can I have this on PC? Thanks ;)

  • @jefboyardee driving slow can actually consume more gas if you don't maintain a constant speed, which is what people on cell phones probably cause other drivers to do.

    I don't think driving 100km/hr exactly would consume more gas, because you just need to give the engine enough juice to overcome small wind resistance and the small amount of friction.

  • @johnallanzero

    yes. but the reduced attention to the trafic does still cause more danger, than these subliminal safety mesures can reduce. it can not compensate the highly increased reaction delay.

    @jef

    thats basically true. but the special driving profile causes more traffic jams. further more accelerations and decellerations increase with increasing reaction delays. both causes higher energy consumtion.

  • one hand in constant use by anything will increase reaction time, but talking with an earpiece is no different than talking to someone in the car beside you. surely reduced attention reduces safety. i can only speak for myself, but when i'm on a mobile i automatically slow down and become more observant. people can be distracted by a passenger/food/a radio as easily as a mobile phone. it's not that one singular distraction that causes *all* of the problems complained about in this video.

  • my opinion: it's the drivers that do not drive slower and do not pay attention - the drivers who are always in a rush - those people cause the problems. this video seems made for those 'angry' drivers.
