  • This was recorded with a potato

  • *Looks for bookbag to dust off TI calculator that hasn't been used since '07 & hopes it's the right model*

  • will it work on ti-83+??

  • i have 1 question i have a ti 84 plus silver edition and its my sisters from 9th grade so about 4 years ago do you think this will work?

  • The files are too big, how can you put that in a TI.84 Plus?

  • It might just be easier to shove a game boy inside of a calculator's case lol

  • I saw that you changed the portion of the screen that you viewed, can you just resize the image?

  • Now I want Skyrim on my TI, port it NAOOOO!!

  • 50 rupees ftw!

  • Not a fake. It's seriously cool...

But ti-basic's programs are better because it's the official language!

    (i'm french)

  • @Powereux Actually no. TI-BASIC is INCREDIBLY slow. It's an interpreted language rather than a compiled one. Z80 assembly is the way to go if you want to anything serious, at all. A program that runs at 20 frames per second in Z80 will run at maybe two frames per MINUTE in TI-BASIC.

  • I googled for games, but their all too big. How did you find a legend of zelda that fits on a ti 84+? (no SE)

  • I can't find the rom that'll fit. where is the link for the acual rom itself?

  • FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheMegaGamezocker Sure it is. Try it for yourself.

  • At this point I'd say you'd be better off with a Gameboy that acts as a calculator.

  • @ShufflingNewb I'm pretty sure you would have an easier time getting away with playing games in class on a TI-84 in comparison to a Gameboy.

  • is it the whole game or just part of it?

  • How do I get this on my calculator?! I've googled it but I can't figure it out...

  • Is there any way of multiplayer? My brother was wonder with this if we could trade between pokemon red and blue.

  • @Subspaceking Sorry, but linking is not supported. I am considering implementing it for the next release of TI-Boy (no promises, though, since I tried linking before and it didn't work well)

  • DIS WORKSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i'm kind of new to graphing calculators, so this is probably a stupid question, but can work on a casio?

  • @SoopaPop no only on ti calculators :( sorry

  • @SoopaPop do a google search for casio games, there are a few

  • how do you do this? i couldnt fint a tutorial anywhere and ti-boy isnt working for me

  • @jalessi4 omnimaga.org

  • I am playing it right now in my TI 83 emulator for DS . :D

  • Now I'll have something else 2 do in algrebra :)

  • if there now was i tutorial this WOUL BE AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

  • W.T.F. This is something i never thought possible. AWESOME!!!!! downloading right now. I freaked out when i saw this. download asap.

  • @madmax2069 Yeah i read the readme.txt and figured it out. Idk, maybe there is the possibility of something like this on the TI nspire CX when it comes out.

  • Excuse the double post, but the error message says insufficient memory

  • @whoastopthat then you have a newer version calc (TI used less ram on the newer models) the newer models only have 42kb of ram the older models have 128kb ram, if you would read the readme.txt that came with the emulator you should have figured that out.

ok, i have a old model TI-84+SE mine has 128kb ram, you own a newer model TI-84=SE which only has 42kb ram. TI-boy will not run on the newer models because they have less ram. the readme.txt also tells you how to find out what model you have.

  • @whoastopthat You probably just need to run it off of the archive memory. Try using NoShell to run it while archived.

  • How did you get this to go onto your calculator? when i try to put it on my calc, it always says error message. even after deleting useless programs, i still have this problem

  • I jizzed my pants.

  • soon calculating will be an optional item...

  • It says i don't have sufficient memory, what should i do?

  • I can't wait for calculators with wifi compatibility.

  • considering the gameboy came out in 1989 I would hope a 2009 calculator could run gameboy games....

  • @lifehackertips They haven't really improved TI calculators at all in the past 10 years. Actually if I'm not mistaken, these calculators use the same CPU as GameBoys did - The Zilog Z80.

In that case, isn't this not an emulator at all, but rather just an interpreter?

  • @lifehackertips it can

  • I would of never finished high school if I had this in my hands.

  • I'm hell as poor, so I got sponsored and was sooo lucky to get this calculator

    :)

Even though it's cool, I barely ever turn it on in class...

    Mostly to show off xD

  • @imalwayswatchingu00 ....Don't you mean, as poor as Hell? lol...

  • @SylphViper Either way, you don't hear "Hell as poor" much?

Like "Hell as shit", or "hell as crap"

I hear it all the time.

  • @imalwayswatchingu00 Lol, whoever you hear saying that must have failed in English class...AND in the Vulgar 101 class as well XD

  • @SylphViper Actually, I think they did fail English.

  • @imalwayswatchingu00 LMAO...! XD

Oh, swet irony, how painful are thy thorns :P

  • Damnit, why do we have to use TI-Nspire. There aren't really games for it. :(

  • hey is there a way to contact texas instruments to get a version of their cal with a very high ram?

  • TI-Boy with Kirby's Dreamland runs perfectly fine on my TI-84 OS 2.53 but after I quit the game and try to do a calculation on the home screen (or pretty much anything in the TI OS), the OS crashes and the RAM is reset. Do you know why this occurs?

  • I have absolutely no idea how to use this. The readme doesn't help...

My problem is that i don't know how to convert the .gb files to whatever the ti-84 supports...

  • those of you who think this doesnt work, your wrong. ive done it myself. pokemon red version is my favorite to play with this emu =)

  • Would this, and anything else for the TI-84 Plus, be compatible with the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition?

  • can you send me a message where i can download the fiile ?

    maybe other games too

  • Killer app

    5 stars

    Beast

  • @rupluttaja Oh, you mean the status bar at the bottom of the Gameboy screen, which shows equipped items, rupees, and hearts? Realize that only part of the Gameboy screen is being shown at once, because the TI-84+ has only half the screen resolution. Also, claims of "fake" don't stand well when there is a download link in the video description. Granted, it doesn't work on newer 84+ models, but TI is to blame for that because they wanted to save a few pennies by removing 80KB RAM from the chip.

  • @calc84maniac oh god i want this calculator os bad T_T i mean what else am i suposed to do at math tests if not play legend of fucking zelda on my calculator =( i'm so sad right now

  • @calc84maniac Do you think this will work on a TI-89 titanium?

  • @ImmortalAcorn Nope, completely different calculator. However, somebody already made a GameBoy emulator for TI-89 called gb68k. Give that a quick google search and you should find it :)

  • @calc84maniac lmao i like you....everytime someone says its fake. u got a legit answer. nice video by the way, i love it

  • @rupluttaja it is real I have this on my calculator

  • I loved this game back in the day! I had it for sn

  • does this work on ti-83 plus?

  • Lol, this is not on the calculator, first of all, the resolution is way off and ti84 doesnt have speakers

  • @markothevrba The resolution is exactly on. Notice how the full Gameboy screen is not displayed at once. And for the limited sound output (which is not what you are hearing in the video), you use a 2.5mm-3.5mm adapter to plug headphones into the data port.

  • @calc84maniac WTF?! Speakers in calculators?!

  • @derek19062 THIS GAME IS SO EPIC, IT CHANGED MY LIFE.

My son is now pregnant with our third child. We have started a family and I have divorced my wife.

  • ISN'T THIS ILLEGAL?!

  • @Lugia625 Not if you own the game.

    (I just lost The Game)

  • @calc84maniac That doesn't make sense. How would nintendo verify that you did indeed buy the game?

  • @Lugia625 Ideally you would have ripped it from the cartridge yourself. Most people don't go to all that trouble though.

  • @calc84maniac where would you plug in the insides of the cartridge?

  • @Lugia625 You have to have special hardware to do it. Just search for gameboy cartridge dumper, you'll probably find something.

  • @Lugia625 you are appearantly new to the world of roms and emulators

  • @calc84maniac fafafafafuck you!

  • @calc84maniac

    I lost the game

    thanks, thanks a lot

  • 2:07 aren't chain chomps for mario and not zelda..?

  • ZELDA ROCKS!!!!!!

  • Is there a more recent version of the emulator?

  • @roflguy Not yet, but I'm currently (very slowly) working on a new version which should hopefully have improved speed and compatibility, not to mention using less RAM so people with newer calculators can use it.

  • Math made fun :D

  • it cool if u send me the app? i cant find a small enuf rom

  • COOL! So I can play Pokémon Yellow on my TI-84 Plus?

    I am so happy . . .

    YAY!!

  • @slejeivw Insufficient memory.

  • CASIO?

  • Do you need mirage os? and can you type me up a tutorial plz :D

  • @Satoshi321

No, it runs as an application.

Look around on TiCalc.org, and you'll find it.

What this actually is, is a program on your computer, that converts the game's ROM into an application for your calculator, then you transfer it to your calculator, and run the application. If you have a new version of the 84, then you may not be able to run it, or be able to get very far in it at all.

Regardless, before you play it, back EVERYTHING up, as it can do what's known as electronic suicide.

    : /

  • I remember I got this then played it during calculus. It was fucking epic. The only thing that was bad is that I never could get the game to go much farther than dungeon 1. Can't remember why exactly though...

  • its sad theres no GBC emu for the TI 84

  • Yo calc84!

Are gonna make it so that it does not use the 3 rampages?

I heard rumors you are remaking it.......

    <3 qazz42

  • i just got mine for free today

  • i have pokemon red on mine pokemon blue on my friends

  • @lolitylols

    i now have zelda

  • AWESOME QUALITY!

  • Nice one, mah boi!

  • Wow, this is preatty good. Math Class just got fun!

  • I read the READ ME and I need help making it less shaky, it seems nomatter what I press it is the same shakiness and it doesnt zoom in at all

  • can you help me find places to download the rom for the games? my Ti-84+se has the right serial letter, but when I just run the app, it goes through the nintendo logo, then goes into unintelligible words while playing what looks like tetris.

  • @ogdencummings specifically the zelda game... I myself am obviously new to this...

  • @ogdencummings hey, whadaya know... found instructions on your readme, thanks!

  • I got as far as the Outside the Box Programming logo. Any help? my serial letter is L.

  • I got as far as the Out of the Box Programming logo, then it doesn't work. Any help?

  • hey, i hav this on my ti-84+ SE and it can use the emulator (serial letter is "G"), but for some reason, games like this and pkmn red or blue or all messed up! They play, but all txt is illegible and you can't even see the characters! i've downloaded many different versions of this game but it won't work..Someone help!

  • join lockerzzzzz

you can only get in with an invitation

pm me on youtube with your email and ill invite you to lockerz =) i just need like 3 more invites and if you pm me i will help you get alot of points

  • Shaky greyscale, a little slow, but for a TI-84 model, that's pretty good.

  • I'm subscribing, but only because I have a TI-84 plus silver edition 2.43 that I got new last year and want to hear if the hacker or hackers who made this genius emulator have given up fixing this project for newer calculators.

  • handheldgamer144: Sorry, the fact is that recent TI-84+ models don't have enough RAM to run this emulator. There's really no way I can get it to use that small amount of extra RAM (which is 16KB instead of the normal 96KB)

  • so then would you say that they downgraded the 84+?

  • Im actually thinking of a making a OS for TI Calcs

  • were did you get the zelda?

  • lolz there is no sound at the ti-84

  • gamemaster676: The I/O port looks like a small headphone jack for a reason :P

  • @calc84maniac so this emulator DOES support sound then?

  • @Donut117 Yeah, but it is fairly crappy sound as calculator music goes, due to the slowness of the emulation.

  • @calc84maniac \

can u make a tutorial? For some reason wabbitsign crashes on me

  • @calc84maniac i actually went and found my old TI calculator, and tried to fit my headphone jack into the small hole, but...IT DOESNT FIT =(

guess its not for the standard 3,5mm..

  • yeah dude you use headphones through the linkport

  • @gamemaster676

um yeah there is. for this emulator press STO for sound use Nokia headphones (double buds) (i have the nokia 2720 fold)

  • @gamemaster676 you need a 2.5 headphone jack :P

  • Just got the TI-Nspire/TI-84+. Been learning to program on the 84+ OS. Will it run this Emu and when/where can I get it?

  • The TI-Nspire 84+ won't run this, sorry. But soon we will be able to run native programs on the TI-Nspire that use the full resolution and speed, and I've written a new Gameboy emulator for this platform. Unfortunately we will have to wait until the hack becomes public, though.

  • know when it will be avaible for newer 84 silvers? please message me when there is

  • hjow du u wanna get sound on the ti84 xD?

  • dude taht's freaking awesome, everyone has TI-84's HOW CONVENIENT!!!

  • only works on ti83 plus SE and up!

  • Can someone make this for Casio calculators?

  • Would Mortal Kombat 2 Work on it

  • I think somebody tried that, but it didn't work. :(

  • Im just starting to write a gameboy emulator. Making slow and steady progress

  • For this platform, or a different one?

  • Just for PC.

  • Having trouble getting anything to work. When I extract the .gbc file and drag it over the BATCH file, it gets up to the point where it says:

".\makeapp\3.bin 1 files copied Pass one..."

Then I get an error message saying that wabbit.exe needs to close. I get an error in the Command Prompt saying that the temp2.bin is being used by another process and can't be accessed...

Thoughts? (BTW, I'm using an 84+ Silver, S-04050)

  • Go to the forum link in the video description and check out the "App builder update" topic. This should fix your problem.

  • Ok, so I got everything to connect just fine. The only problem I now have is that when I go to start the game, I get to the Nintendo logo screen, but as soon as the screen is over, the game exits itself.

  • Maybe you don't have enough free RAM for the save file? That's the only reason I can think that it would instantly quit.

  • I'm trying to buy one off ebay and two sellers said there is no letter after just S-0404, will this model work?

  • Yeah, that calculator is from April '04 with no revision, should work!

  • thanks a lot! I hope I win it

  • My TI 84 Silver Edition calc is Model "H" and I was wondering if you (calc84maniac) r working on a solution to that and when the solution would be avalible. Thanks

  • So if its "P" Im scwred?

  • As far as I know it only goes up to "M". Are you looking at the right letter?

  • which calc do you recommend is best for the emu?

  • Comment removed

  • can you possibly help me? i tried to put link's awakening on my calculator after putting a rom into the .bat file, and creating the calculator app. but when i try to run the app, it only goes to the screen with the giant calculator, then it goes blank and after a while, my ram gets cleared. any idea what's wrong?

  • Do you have a TI-84?

  • It could be that your hardware revision of the TI-84+ is too new (a problem I am trying to find a solution to). To know for sure, look at the serial number on the back of your calculator. The very last character will be a letter telling you which hardware revision it is (A for first, B for second, so on). If it's H or later, your calculator is too new. Hopefully I can find a solution soon!

  • is it the long string of numbers followed by a mix of numbers and letters? cause if so mine is M

  • you sure? I did manage to get it to work successfully on my model M TI84PSE

  • You sure, mtgross? That doesn't sound right...

  • SOMETHING worked at some point. Sound too.

It may have possibly been another calculator, but I doubt it.

  • TI 84 SE

  • Very nice. I tried it and Kirby is pretty fucking awesome.

    How is it coming along?

  • I've been trying to move stuff around for the possibility of the emulator working on newer models. However, now it doesn't work like it's supposed to at all. It's quite strange.

  • Huh, you have to program it for each individual models? I thought as long as you have it set for a certain type of calculator, like the TI-83 plus, it will work for all variant models of it.

  • No, it's actually the newer hardware revisions of the TI-84+/TI-84+SE that aren't working properly (has something to do with ram and memory mapping - I'm working on figuring out exactly what's going on).

  • Sounds like a pain in the ass.

To give you the heads up, I tried it on my 84+ SE with the OS at 2.40, it worked fine. I think it was a little laggy, though. Not that noticeable.

Maybe you can go back to an earlier version and start over from there.

  • As I recalled, I bought my calculator like that. I did not upgrade it. So maybe my version of the calculator has the new ram and memory mapping.

Another question, sorry, what are you going to do about the full screen option? The calculator's resolution is significantly smaller than the gameboy's.

  • Yeah, I already restored my code from a backup.

And lag is to be expected, anyway - I'm not getting anywhere close to the emulated CPU speed of an actual Game Boy. I have improved the speed of some parts of Kirby recently though - like the title screen, warp star, and cutscenes.

  • Oh, and you already said it worked on your calculator, so it doesn't have issues. It outright fails on the newer calculators.

And I don't get what you're asking about the screen - I already have 3 zoom modes

  • My bad. I was trying to ask if there is anyway you can get the emulator to play in full screen without zooming to look half way decent.

Zooming is not bad at all, though. I like how you got the screen to follow the main sprite you are playing as.

  • Also, sorry for all the questions, I am just curious and this is really interesting, wouldn't the emulator theoretically work faster on the 84 series because of the faster CPU? Like a computer game playing better on a faster PC?

  • well, all of the models I am supporting have the same speed (the TI-83+ simply doesn't have all of the hardware features I need - not to mention most roms wouldn't fit in such limited space)

  • Alright, I'll give it a few more gos. A video would be great, my friend, but don't let me rush you into anything, haha.

  • I know how to send things to the calc. I just don't understand what to send. And what to use.
