I hate irish and im from ireland.... Im a straight c student in irish.... Well its probably cause the teacher is horrible.... Ahh well ni maith liom gaeilge mar ta se leadranach... Sorry for my bad spelling :)
"Haileo" ? "Haigh"? they''re new ones on me and I'm a native speaker!! Who is making up these abominations? Suit ye better to learn the language instead of "Irishing" English amd American phrases..."Haigh" - supposed to be a translation of "hi" - ? JESUS WEPT!!
@Sidcup12 Jesus wept?! Cop on! Tá Béarlachas ann atá i bhfad níos measa ná haigh agus heileo - agus, dála an scéil, tá siad breá nádúrtha i nGaeilge Uirbeach an lae inniu, so b'fhéidir gur as an Ghaeltacht thú nó cainteoir dúchais de chineál éigin eile, ach bheadh sé níos fearr duit gearáin a dhéanamh faoi rud eile atá níos measa!
when i was in high school you had the option of Irish, most people took french or spanish because it was an easy A (easy teacher) this was an American public high school. they are trying to keep the language alive
Really good video and the idea is great, but it would be wonderful if you could put the audio with the pronunciation of the words, it really could help!! thanks a lot any way...
thanks dude, when I go to Ireland and say these words how I read them, and when people look at me funny because I have said the wrong things because you only put up the words and didn;t say the words too, I can then give you a nice punch in the face
@AskSOmeoneelse Could you please provide audio? It is much easier to learn if we see the words and hear them spoken. Especially since Irish is *NOT* a phonetic language. F'ex: Dia Dhuit is pronounced like "Gia Ditch" (according to my N. Ireland friend). So, anyway...here is another user asking (nicely) for audio. Thanks! Go raibh maith agat.
Dia Duit is pronounced "jee-ah dwit". My parents from the Gaeltacht in Co.Roscommon I speak Gaeilge fluently. IF you wish to learn how to pronounce these words just give me a private message.
Go raibh míle maith agat for learninig Gaeilge it's a beautiful language that is fighting for it's survival.
@daviddelusional1 It's important to keep the language alive. It is a part of the culture. Ireland has already lost sooo much on a cultural level with mass immigration. It may seem a small thing, but it is not.
In recent surveys it was concluded that 50,000 people claim to be capable of speaking irish fluently but only about 12,000 people claim to speak it on a daily basis, considering the current population of ireland is around 6.5 million were talking extremly small numbers of people who speak it still, and I garuntee all of those people speak english perfectly well anyway.
Tá sé mícheart níl sé "haileo" tá sé Dia duit!

Hey, good video.. I just have a tiny correction to add..
"Cén t-ainm atá ort?" is "What's your name?" to one person, but "Cén t-ainm atá oraibh?" is "What are your names?" to many people..
You probably knew that already but I was just making it more clear.. :)
