you guys asking the price for that decent non metal tint film(i think it was non metal because the tiner told me i might get bad cell phone signal from the inside the car) and job? Just for the rear window 35%, I remember with tax I paid $95 and gave my car for a whole day. I didn't do the sides because I know how to tint. Iv done 4 cars tintin myself but since i hate to do the rear windows, i took it to a tint shop who brags about his 20 years of experience. Please dont talk about matrix dots
well boys and girls... we all get angry sometimes... and i just had that moment and thats why I posted this video. Sorry if I hurt your dirty poor workmanship but if you don't start building your skills, you will always stay at the bottom level. some people will even take care the matrix dots for small more money some won't but at least really clean the windows well before they work on the tint. or do not tell me about your 10,20,30 years of tintin experiences! end of the discussion thanx all
but how about this... I see some pepoles cars with almost absolutely no dust... no thin hair, or noticeable dust from may be 10 inches away. Mine, you could see from more than 20inch away. Then I ask that person how much did he pay for it, he would say $185 for the whole windows(rear, sides) Car was A6 (I think B6?) He told me he used the cheapest film. I see matrix dots were not sticking and not a problem, but no hair lines or dusts... he saw my tint and told me and get it done again
Finally IM BACK to STATES!!! lol couldnt leave a comment while I was in overseas!
I see many people agree and disagree~! but gotta tell ya boys, it still look shitty on the edges.... some say matrix, some say pay more money, some say use a heat gun.... do we not know all these solutions? yeah i could eliminate matrix dots with sand papers, I could pay $500 for the tint job and if i see one small dot I can tell them to remove everything and start from scratch
tint will never stick on dot matrix as youd would like..Some put extra glue on it to fill in the air pockets others sand it down but not where the defrosters run..That there is terrible because off all that contaimantion..No excuse for little hairs between the film..Great tinters strive for a perfect job even though no tint job ever comes out perfect..But there is no effort there..Dots will never stick but it could look better than that layed down better without the dirt and hairs!!
Tell us how much you PAYED and I will tell you if its good or not.
Overall its ok except they could have spent more time with the bottom edge. If your one of "those customers" then just ask for your money back.
What you don't realize are those dots are raised from the glass, uneven and hold water and air when first tinted. Yes after a week you can press them down a bit, but they will always be noticeable. Just enjoy the benefits of the tint and quit being so picky.
Looks like a little dirt in the install for sure ! It seems like the installer could have spent a little more time detailing it and it would have come out a whole lot better. Still it's not the worst I have seen.
the "dot matrix" must be a pain in the ass. how can they avoid the small imperfections around the edges. i think it simpy cant sit better on dot matrix
The Camera Won't Show All The Flaws. But It's A Decent Tint Job. Unless You Paid $250 or More You Shouldn't Be Complaining. There's Always Gonna Be Silver Around The Dot Matrix. But rub With Your Fingers To Make It A Little Better. If it's metalized Film, you're lucky if it even stays on the dot matrix.
i hear you man, but those imperfections are not acceptable, if your gonna pay close to 200 for a tint job, they better make sure that shit is perfect, or they mention before they start that there might be some imperfections. Tint film is extremely cheap, tint tools are pretty cheap too, so all that your really paying for is the labor. I bought some precut tint from ebay for $25 computer cut exactly to the shape of my windows. my very first time tinting i had bubbles similar to yours, CONTINUED -
Ok first off you cant expect their not to be a single bubble its physically impossible to get all the dirt and dust off the window ... if you mess up you have to do the whole thing ... it would take about 5 tries to get it close to right so youd have to pay 5 times to get it perfect ... dont bitch it could be worse
@eric31291 lmfao where is this anger coming from .. ? did your uncle randy touch you in the basement when you were 9 ?? fucking rape baby nobody gives a fuck how much tint costs .. its 150 bucks here in atlanta ... i can tint my car for 20 bucks and do it just as good ... il send you some pictures if youd like whats your email ???
Those are dot matrix tints. That couldn't be fixed post curing time. However, if it's still less than a week, may be ironed out with the plastic squeegee --repetitious fashion for about an hour. With this tint, you may very well try doing that but the odds that the adhesive would work is slim. You may try popping some with a needle and see if it works.
The best approach to window matrix is to either sand them prior to installation of the tint, or by applying vinyl to cover the dots.
Jobs okay. Only needed the dot matrix to be squeezed out n bit of heat! If it didn't settle well after installation then the installer should've advised you a time to get it back n give it a going over.
See what I mean? Many hack window tinters think that level of quality is fine but a quality minded installer sees that for what it is...mediocre but typical.
that is the dot matrix you dump ass!! i have over 25 years experience in the tinting industry and own 3 tint shops. from what i see, i don't see anything wrong with it. it will show white all around the back window.. it just a matter of time.
If you want a superior window film installation, you need to go to a superior shop with superior installers. What you got is a mediocre job and mediocre is about average in the window film business and typical of most installer's skill level. Next time, do your research and go with the best and expect to pay the highest price. Otherwise, you should expect less than the best in terms of quality.
He may have left dust on the lower part of the glass while cleaning or He made a small miscalculation entering the rear shelf area and may have touched the rear shelf with the film and picked up some dust. Its not his fault your car is dusty. Its not worth doing over. Hes going to get the same result. Sometimes worse. Its a gamble when it comes to results especially with older cars. Plus10 years is not much experience in this biz. Next time find someone with more experience.
@tintmasterflex and life is waaaay way too short to leave a legacy of a tacky work job like this. Is this how you wanna be remembered? Do you wanna go by as "The guy who never really did his work right"?
not for nothing, whoever did that back glass was not very professional. it wasnt shrunk properly, it wasnt cleaned properly, and it wasnt hung properly. all that contamination is un-acceptable. one dust spot, yeah, but all the edges with fingers, dust spots all over the place, common just redo it and do it right. if you dont you should put a sign that lets your customers know you dont care about them or your work.
I tell my customers if you look for fault you will find fault, thing is its an old car with years of dirt built up in it!!!
The dot matrix you are complainng about yet you state you pushed round it with your finger and it stuck down well, Why not push the rest of it down then??????
As for the small contamination spots if you go over them with your finger nail it will push it down.
This said the job could have been better!!
to be honest though i think you are a fault finder!!!
"(took me many days because some parts keep falling off again)"
Everything you are complaining about is perfectly normal. Think of it this way, you are complaining that something took you manny days to do, yet he had your vehicle for how many hours? Tint is to be looked through, not at, so step back and appreciate the work someone else did for you. A couple little specs or air in the matrix don't make it block any less heat.
industry standard in 5ft. you need to be able to see the imperfection from 5ft away. around the outside of your window is what they call, dot matrix. this is a ceramic pain that the manufacturer puts on the edge on some windows. he should have roughed them up with some sand paper.
also they also look like that sometimes because it take about 3 days for the tint to cure out. if there are imperfections after that, you should take it back and I'm sure that they will fix it for you. if I were you I would just press them all down with your finger.
But when I took that video, it was 3weeks after and those weeks were sizzling hot summer weeks in Virginia. I pressed them with fingers all around it (took me many days because some parts keep falling off again and not to mention sizzling hot sweating fingers burning work cuz of the weather) and still they are not even close to good quality work when I compare to my friend's tint job...
When I took this tint back to the shop after 6 days, they didnt even want to look at it for 3 seconds and told me not every tint job is perfect and he told me if there are any large bubbles, come back 30 days after.
well, I guess I should go back right? I am going to have to complain... as I told him not to rush because I dont want to come back for any imperfection, but he did the whole thing in 15 mins.... I didnt like that...
man your just like me. i dont think your pickey you just want it done right. i just had my 2001 crown vic done yesterday. looked terrible. the shop had a different guy redo it.after the redo i now have fingers like you around my window. he said they will go away when in the sun for a few days. hopefully they will. i got 5 percent. anyway i got them little black dots like you around the window that causes the fingers.
im keep checking everyday but even though its been several months, it still looks horrible on some places...
Im asian as you can tell by my accent in the video, but if these things happen in my country, they will go bankrupt like next day... There is no chance they can stand on the ground and do the business by denying that it is their fault. They keep saying there are no tinting jobs in the world will be 100% perfect. I agree on that but this is like so garbage..
you answered your own question . Yor Asian . I have a window tint shop and the biggest asshole customers are asians . You can explain till the sun goes down they keep saying i am not happy. You cant get the dot matrix not to show white because they are raise of the glass. I tell my asian asshole customers if they see a car with no whiteness around the dots i will refund there money plus buy them lunch . .
Its not the best job, it can be alot better but it WONT BE PERFECT nothing with you pickey asians ever is. You need to step back and look at it, anybody can find falt in anything when your face is against the glass, I just want to come up behind you guys and smack the back of your heads. The cheapest it not the best, and you expect the best from the cheep guys, It will alwas not stick to the dots DEAIL WITH IT.
