I am retired and now have the time to revisit the music experiences I enjoyed in school. Picked my clarinet back up after 40 years and joined a local community band and civic orchestra. Traveling to the state of Washington this summer for a vacation and contacted the local alumni band and they are letting me march in a parade with them. Playing the Swing March. Great Song !!! This video was a TREMENDOUS aid in practicing.
I played first trombone in an American Legion band and this was one we did on a regular basis. IIRC, it was from thje movie "What Did You Do In The War, Daddy?"
First song that I had learned ...gee...it was ages ago...I love the trombone.....adore the drumline...love the.cornet display..gosh I miss the good old days....huya....
@nylonTS I remember BM Green, 1978 massed bands of the light div sounding retreat at horseguards, and BM green marching with the straightest back you ever saw, and a coloured guy playing the echo for post horn and echo, do uou remember him - his name escapes me
Great peice of music. This was the first march our band learned when it was formed. Now the band is well established and plays allover the world. Cassino band of the Northumbria Army Cadet Force, if you get a chance, look them up.
Thanks for posting! I was the Platoon Leader, 1st Platoon , Bravo Company, Kemper Military School Corps of Cadets- 1975. The Drum Major ( Bob Adkisson) always had this played when it was our turn to march off the court and into the messhall at lunch time.
