would love to get a looper pedal, reverb pedal, delay pedal, and an equalizer pedal for an ambient setup. it wouldn't be very extravagant, but that's basically all i think i'd need. maybe a chorus pedal too. i guess a volume expression pedal would be nice too. but i can't get anything for at least 5 months. i'm 18 now, its about time i get a job... when i finish high school. xD
i think i might wanna stay home in san antonio for college, got too much goin on to just fuckin leave. and its cheaper.
@pritch1964 Thank you so much, sir! What sound exactly are you speaking of? Take a look at my 'setup' in the description and see if there's anything you think you could use and I'll let you know what I think of it.
Most important is the notes you're playing and how they relate to each other. In this case, the main melody is the first and the fifth complimenting each other, with lots of reverb and delay. Thank you for watching! :)
Beautiful. A nice demonstration of how looping can be of far better value than otherwise, unlike some "purists" insist! Nice little expensive setup you've got there, it pays for itself I imagine! A great piece, I'll be sure to check out the studio version :)
@scorpguitar79 Haha, that's what I like to hear! Thank you for watching. If you're interested in hearing the studio version of the song, please feel free to check it out here: /watch?v=0WXC7oN1yAQ
@Glockinmypock3t Thank you so much! I did, actually, record the full version of this song along with bass and drums. Check it out (and download it if you like) here: /watch?v=0WXC7oN1yAQ
i would get a better mic to mic up your guitar cab. it looks like a 58 which is fine but this is so beautiful i would hate to see more potential go to waste. very dull sounding not much air on those begning guitar loops. but great just great
@SoaringKrowe Thank you so much for you concern. I was fairly new to recording electric guitar and I've since 'stepped up' as far as equipment goes. Using a BETA 57A as well as DI to achieve a much more natural sound. Plus I compressed this to no avail. :P Anyhow, if you want to hear what this song turned into, check it out here: /watch?v=0WXC7oN1yAQ
like the tone you come in with @2:16 great stuff. It's cool because you get these MASSIVE ambient tones and textures going in post rock, and sometimes you need something thin and kind of lo-fi to cut right through all of that. Good post. keep it up!
@NoIdeasButInThings Hey, thanks so much for paying such well attention. I'm actually recording this song as we speak (not literally, but I think you know what I mean).
Did you mean at 1:26? If so, a similar effect can be achieved on guitars with S-1 switching, or just by putting your sound out of phase, which I did mechanically.
Anyway, thanks again, and I'm off to check out what you've posted. :)
@danielhopeguitar It was on Reverse Delay, with the repeat time at about 79BPM quarter notes. Effect level at about 90% and Feeback at about 75%. Hope that helps! :)
@notpopebuthope Hey, I appreciate it! It's great to have a fellow guitarist as a friend on YouTube. Keep in touch; I'll be checking out your blues tunes as often as you post them! :)
@hendrixxr4r I think the biggest thing for 'oceanic' sounds is reverb, so that's the foundation of any sort of atmospheric track. The next biggest utilities are delay and loop stations for creating a decaying and renewing effect. A volume pedal comes in handy for doing swells but isn't completely necessary if your reverb pedal has a delay setting, where the reverb swells in. Are you interested in post-rock music?
@markrguitar I really appreciate your comment, that's kind of you. Are you a fan of ambient guitar work? Oh, your channel tells me yes. May I ask what exactly you meant by 'approach'?
@rootvalue Sure. :) I mean the attention to detail, you've clearly got a sound you want and although its tough you're working hard to get it. Its very good to hear and not something I do nearly enough....
@markrguitar Thank you very much. Necessity is the father of invention, and I just have a meticulous mind. Often more rhythmic and less detail-oriented songs are more tasteful, though, because it is all just a matter of taste. :) Take care, Mark!
@DrtyWrm Thanks so much for your feedback. I'm looking at your posts; it's nice to have music as a common ground between two people. Looking forward to your videos in my subscription box!
@CasaDeCucaracha My music is all yours if you're actually inclined to use it. I'd be more than thrilled and it's completely up to you. Thanks for the nice thoughts.
Nice riff, it makes fruit loops seem life fur loops, lemon glaze seem like grey tree sap, a nice crunchy evenly salted kettle chip seem like a fragment of metal from a tank used in WW2, and even then is it still sweeter than the first time the joke of confusing a bidet for a water fountain was in a movie, or maybe sweeter than tying cord to a wireless mouse then spitting on the ceiling, and of course, sweeter than a Gene Wilder acid trip

@28659pfirsik You've got a '65 Twin Reverb too? It sounds a lot better in real life without the choking SM58, huh? ;)

What effects should I look into?

I enjoyed this, and the "transference of energy" break-down. I like the ambient stuff more, it allows our minds to walk around a little. peace
