you could probably even make it 35x35 so long as the entire area underground was de-monsterized, right? ;) or is it only able to spawn a certain amount for a certain size? I would have figured that it would constantly be dumping the monsters anyway, so it wouldn't really matter once the machine got going!

I'll try it and perhaps relate my success, because I did a 75x75 one back around when this video came out...

I was starting to dig it into the ground so they don't fall far... for exp ;) ;)

What do you do with the lower layer so that monsters don't spawn in it? Wouldn't you want all of the spawns in the upper layer so that they can fall into the canals?

@TankEpidemic Upgrade to the latest 1.9 beta: Endermen have a restricted list of blocks they can pick up now which should save your mob grinder from taking any more damage (unless it's made of dirt / sand / etc).

Failing that use MCEdit to search/replace effected block types with enderman immune ones. Some might call this cheating, but the way I see it, if Enderman had always been in the game you'd have built it out of Enderman immune materials. They weren't, so you didn't. Nuff said =)

this is too much work for a bit of loot, if u find a dungeon u can use the mob spawner to get more than 2000 per hour, etc...

I have to thank you a trillion times for your tutorials :-) finally got mine done, it took me MANY hours but well worth it, i did not tho clear the underground caverns (yet) due to lazyness but it still produce more than i need for my world. Only need to figure out a nice and effective trap to mount it currently just drowning them while looking and enjoying :-) but thanks again! subbed.

dont worry that they fixed the piston duplication glitch so you will just have to harvest diamonds the regular way (sudden diamond ores in caves) it will only take you some 1,5 year longer and that isnt much of difference
