  • i like bill mathers but hell no hes so clueless about SOPA.

    FUCK SOPA

  • Pussy couldnt even look up while he was saying "we still want free shit". I guess we dont live in a free world? Obviously we all knew that but hes saying everything has to cost us fucking money and thats now how its supposed to be. Money is nothing but useless fucking paper and now plastic. People need to learn this and realize that this earth dying for this is just fucked. Greedy people need to either be put to a stop or just done away with.

  • @xOD1Nx It's important to protect copyrights. Not everyone is in with the Wall Street bankers or Bill Maher or Hollywood or even the record companies. Artists have a right to control their creative content. If artists can't make any money on their work, then their work plummets in value. Society loses out when artists can't make some kind of profit off their work - and it's their decision to make, not the person who posts it illegally.

  • i would never heard of bill maher if i didnt download religulous with piratebay:)

  • On these days you tube is filled with "owned" videos...

  • I don't even like Bill Maher, but I wouldn't say he was "owned" just because people presented some reasonable counter-arguments. Not unless you have a super-broad definition of "owned."

  • @glennpagemusic I adore him, but I can see the ownage. When he's right, he's right and he often makes you look like an idiot for being wrong. He rarely has the weaker argument and he's kinda obnoxious, so when he fails it sticks out like a sore thumb.

  • @wiltedpolyp If you build something, you have every right to voice concern that someone else is taking away your ability to extract a return value. That's one of the reasons we HAVE copyrights in this country. Just because Bill Maher is rich or there's no way to actually (fully) stop pirating doesn't mean the principle doesn't apply.

  • @glennpagemusic I didn't flat out say he was wrong, although I have a hard time agreeing with him. He's a genius comic, philosopher and a real artist. "Controlling creative content" just doesn't feel like Bill Maher and I think he knows it. He already extracts a very comfortable return value as an entertainer so he should lighten up about being so popular.

  • Lost a bit of respect for Bill... what a shame. Although I agree on his points on atheism and many other topics, but this? Comeon Bill wtf?

  • @cenerozzzz Hmmm. I on the other hand, DON'T really enjoy most of Bill Maher's work. But here, I see his point. All he's saying is he doesn't want his work illegally stolen. It lowers the value of creative content and reduces the incentive for people to create quality work if it's not protected. It's valid to not want the government to shut down your website haphazardly, but I believe alot of these sites willingly built up their business models trading in PROTECTED content, and (more)

  • @glennpagemusic They aren't aggressive enough in trying to discourage or prevent outright theft. His comment about FB and ruining investment for venture capitalists is bogus to me.It doesn't make something any less moral or legal just because venture capitalists might lose money! These guys aren't worried about artists losing money. What about the artists who are discouraged from making art because they can't make a living off it? And yes, I know people will argue how it actually "helps" (more)

  • @glennpagemusic the artist when people reproduce their work illegally, but no one is legally allowed to make that call other than the person who owns the content, whether it inadvertantly helps them or not.

  • I think the makers of the software and the hardware need to make more effort to fix this!

  • Bill Maher is so hypocritical. He criticizes others for having money. But as soon as someone torrents his movie and starts taking his money. Then an ONLY then its not right, its not re-distribution of wealth. All of a sudden NOW it's stealing...

  • Bill dumb communist ...

  • First vaccines and now this! What the fuck bill?

  • Wow... it's explained to him and he still didn't get it

  • The SOPA bill is a trap, a bait and switch that is full of fine print. And Bill has fallen in. Naturally Hollywood (and Obama) are against piracy, but that doesn't mean they want censorship.

  • Bill was just saying there needs to be some kind of regulation, and he's right. If you were an independent musician or filmmaker who's been working at it your whole life, only to find that it's impossible to make any money because of piracy, you'd probably feel differently. Just because we're all accustomed to getting this stuff for free doesn't mean we haven't been stealing it. Think about it.

  • @futurefeet Sadly, most people won't think about what you're saying. I agree with you. (See what I said up above)

  • I knew there was a reason I always thought bill maher was a little cunt

  • there was a time when i was watching real time regularly, but at some point - i think it was at the time when he started calling himself atheist and no longer agnostic (because i think it is an important difference between "i don't know" and "i'm sure there is no god") - he became more and more arrogant, talking about topics he didn't understand and didn't even care to be informed any more. see him talking like that makes me sad. i will never watch his show again.

  • Dude talking about this "we want free shit"! Its not even all about that, its about going to jail over something that dumb. Being taken away from a family only "you" support for uploading a video of your kids first steps with DRAKE playing in the backround. Free shit?!, how about you lose that 6figure job you have, make 15 to 30,000 dollars a year while taking care of a 5person house then lets hear you say that bullshit again. Im middle class and damm right I love free shit

  • bill you complaining about this is like the 1% complaining about taxes shhhhh

  • People all around the world Biatch!

  • But Bill, furthering on your moral dimension argument, one could say that information however made in any manifestation should be exempt from being a commodity, which is what your documentary was.

  • Bill Maher - fucking asshole
