This is also from the synthesizer of Eric Siday, who also brought us the CBS color logo, the 3-tone Time Magazine commercial of the mid-60s, as well as synthesizer work for Ford and Westinghouse commercials, etc. They were called "Identitones."
This logo used to be on the first season of Sesame Street, which aired from November 10, 1969 to May 8, 1970, as well as the five pilot episodes of Sesame Street from July 1969.
I was around four or five years old when I first saw and heard this ident. I was never terrified of it, I loved it. The graphics were sharp and the music had a haunting beauty to it. It's a shame it was around only for a short period of time.
I had a nightmare when I was six that this came on TV and even though I closed my eyes and covered my ears, I kept seeing and hearing it. Terrifying! I wasn't afraid of it in waking life, though.
And the announcer is none other than Fred Foy, who was Dick Cavett's announcer at the time, as well as an ABC staff announcer in New York. In Detroit, during the late '40s and early '50s, Foy was also the narrator/announcer for the original radio version of "THE LONE RANGER".

If you ever lived in South Florida this logo should remind you of Haitian Radio...

In the low-quality version, i thought the E was green.

This had to do with the color phase being off about 15 to 20 degrees.

Are you sure?

I am. Believe me, I've worked in the video editing business. What you're seeing here is what SHOULD be, in terms of the NET colors.
