If you could, read up on Greek Mythology and stuff, it makes the story a lot more interesting if you know whats going on and stuff, and just so you know, Poseidon is the God of the Sea and Horses (He's the mean blue tattoo guy). For people who dont know what happens in the beggining cutscene. Zueses enemy forgot his name, summoned the titans, not giant gods. These titans were banished underground and and that guy with blue fire on is head re-summoned them.

The BIg giants are Titans, the parents and grand parents of the olympians, who used to rule until the olympian (Zues, hermes etc.) overthew them and became the new gods, and with the help of Kratos, there pissed, and back to get revenge
