Courtney talked about a "Hole comeback" in her 2007 myspace blogs. And she also said she doesn't think Eric does necessarily have to be in the band. I don't remember exactly but she said something about their solar plexus not being in armony.

And anyway Eric once said :

I love the production but i wish Courtney would stop changing the lyrics unless to improve them which she clearly hasn't. I love the songs from the Linda Perry sessions but thought the production was bland, so putting those songs with Michael Beinhorn production was a smart move.

I love the Linda Perry sessions too but I agree the way in which it was recorded didn't do it justice. I really don't like how she changed the lyrics to Sammantha, it was the only song that was pure rock gold before, but I think it's more closer to Live Through This than Celebrity Skin was. I'm excited for this album

As Courtney mentions these are just scratch vocals, meaning she will record them again properly. Scratch vocals are just used as a guide for the producer to work from.
