More intensely emotional than I'm used to hearing it and parts of the tender 2nd mvt are faster than usual, but for me it all works very well. I believe Grieg would have really liked this performance - I certainly did. (Nice to watch also.)
There was a video of her playing Bach Violin Sonata 1. I can't find it anymore, which is a shame because it was my favorite recording.
I think the reason I liked it is the same reason that she got fifth/sixth place though -- she doesn't over-decorate the composition. The way she plays is good for the audience and composer, but it probably doesn't work too much in favor of the performer's career.
It would be nice if they mentioned the name of the pianist. In fact it would be just fair. Her name is Sholpan Barlykova and she is one of the best accompanists at Moscow Conservatory.
So... beautiful... T.T

Who is the pianist? This is a duet not a solo!

Grieg wrote such loving melodies.

This is a bit mannered and student-like but her powerful sound and the marvelous music itself seem to overwhelm any failings. Where did she place?

It's nice to hear Grieg's 2nd Violin/Piano Sonata.
The 3rd is most commonly played.
