The point of Aussie rules football is speed strategy and strength. padding would take away and strategy of going for the ball and just make it where players want to knock the shit out of people, which would kill the spirit of strategy.in the game.
The game isn't going to look slow when everyone is running at the same pace, If padding were worn it would only have to be light padding so that players could run farely fast.
But tackling in this game is very soft aswell compared to other sports out there, U don't see anyone spear tackling because if a player did it would kill the other player that's why protective padding is worn in gridiron.
Besides there are plenty of injuries that happen in thus game due to no padding.

its actually funny you say something like that, because i was absessed with afl in years 3,4,5 and enjoyed it a bit in year 7. i actually wanted to play the game, but my mum said it was either afl or soccer. in the playground, your right, i wasn't up for the physical challenge but i was the most skilful, the skills were pretty easy, and people would actually think i was good for my SKILLS rather then brunt, in soccer it is all about skill, skill much more enjoyable to watch then footy

TSN2 carries games on Saturday night in Canada, and i must say I've been enjoying the games. There's so much more to the football family of sports than just NFL... I've been a lifelong Canadian Football League fan, and now AFL. Wonder what else there is.

@tamoril I think we've got a couple very small leagues. But if you asked the average guy on the street they might not even know what AFL is. People mostly follow CFL and NFL but i imagine interest in the sport will grow now that a major sports broadcaster is carrying some games.
