But congress critters use it in their districts to buy votes while the other districts find it offensive. It is mostly resented over all. Conquering all of the US will defeat the purpose of the creating a new CSA. Even if the CSA was a south+west alliance, even at its greediest, I don't see it wanting New England, New York, and California. (I could see it taking the rural parts of California + New York.) I'm sorry, the south would lose. California alone would take virtually the entire confederate army to take over. Not to mention the military of the south would not be nearly as good as the US. The people would not jump on board either. The US would have to be really weak and its military virtually dismantled for this to be realistic. Or the south would have to have help from another powerful country like China. As it is now though, the south doesn't have a chance.

What do you base this video on? Do the people of the south want to rise again? No and even if they did, where would they get the equipment to wage such a war? Manpower would also be a problem since not every single person in the south ould fight the war, not to mention they would have absolutely no navy to speak of. @americanmuslimgirl You are mostly right but missing a few very important points. First is that the southern states get federal money, much of which they don't really want. But congress critters use it in their districts to buy votes while the other districts find it offensive. It is mostly resented over all. Secondly, the USA is broke, and those checks will soon either be cut off or be for useless hyperinflated dollars.

Conquering all of the US will defeat the purpose of the creating a new CSA. Even if the CSA was a south+west alliance, even at its greediest, I don't see it wanting New England, New York, and California. (I could see it taking the rural parts of California + New York.) It also won't want the great lake states, or at least all parts of them.

The problems with the big cities in the NE and left coast, mostly the usual failures of socialism, will leave the entire US like Detroit, destitute and crime ridden and relying on robbing taxpayers elsewhere just to keep the socialist scams going. When that results in hyperinflation, many states will simply see no point to continuing if they can declare independence and save their money.

@Deeeeeeetable That's the usual union propaganda but it's not correct. The only thing labor unions ever built was the mob. The middle class was build up by having an educated population in the growth of industry and automation, particularly at a time when two huge wars needed machinery and then created so much destruction that so much had to be rebuilt. And it was done mostly by small businesses. Unions only enabled a few who were less willing to produce to benefit from others' work.

Socialism has a few advantages, but meaningless ones considering the price, and even those advantages create a slow rot that eventually decays a free system. And union propaganda is only treated as historical fact by union propagandists. No one familiar with history does.

I think it's New England that will secede once Newt Grinch/Bachman ticket win in 2012. That area is the most different from the rest of US. Eastern NY including NYC will be the area fought over, but will win, meaning allowed to secede. Parts of Quebec may join as well, expecially Montreal-quebec City. As the Old South and Midwest become a theocracy, a third State may form on the West Coast as well. This will be a more violent situation, as so many are armed. The military will probably hold.

What would be the point of supplanting one totalitarian government with another one? Why do we always assume a second civil war would begin with another Southern confederacy, (because we have hill billies shoutin from their beat up old pick ups "The South will Rise Again"?) Why shouldn't Western states succeed from the East, from a Federal city thousands of miles away? The idea that the secession would require war is ridiculous. Virginia or any new confederate or revolutionary state would not attack other states they would say "this is our land we are independent and free not to be controlled by a federalist oligarchy". It would be a domino effect any state which is sufficient on it's own without the federal government would have no problem just hopping on the sececcesion train. The problem is most states are dependent on the federal government.

Hard to say; most military are very conservative& have sworn an oath to the Constitution. @bearmassaro They could use ships to attack Seattle but would make more sense to use ships to attack Washington,D.C. the Confederates originally attacked Fort Sumner and later headed north (toward Washington, D.C.) and might have succeeded if they didn't make stupid errors like wasting to many troops on places like Gettysburg. Also to advertise their stategy wouldn't work, they would have to keep plans secret if they actually wanted to succeed.

You would have Edwards AFB & Fort Iriwn to deal with, they could wreak havoc on your supply lines & troops from the mid-western army bases would be able to shore up the flanks between San Fran & Seattle...
