Australian Rules FOOTBALL has been an official sport with rules that are united as a sport since 1859 - decades before 'UK Soccer/Football' became an official sport with united rules, before then 'Soccer/Football' had rules that varied all over the place depending where you were playing it. @75353866 AFL has officially been around longer as a 'Football' game with a nation of official rules longer than 'Soccer'. The only reason why 'Football' is called soccer in most countries is because they already have a national sport they call 'Football so it is less confusing to have 2 names for 2 sports vs calling both 'Football' and causing stupid drama. Football (AUS-AFL), Football (UK-Soccer), Football (US-Gridiron) If they all are called Football in the same country, that is confusing.
