I just got a epi les paul-100 today not an amp though = [ have to wait till next month, but would you reccommend this over the vox VT 20w? they are the same price so idk what to do help plz thanks.
there's something lovely about a Les Paul. In my band I use botht a US Std Strat and Les Paul VOS 57 and they both have unique voices. The only thing I don't like about the Les Paul is that it weighs a ton. I gotta get my video camera set up and upload some of my own stuff.
If it helps... I asked a luthier (guitar doctor) about this when I bought my LP Standard. He said that quite a few people used to remove the metal pickup cover thinking that the metal somehow dulled the magnetic response from the string. The metal covers were originally nickel though so it shouldn't make any difference. Seeing the trend people then removed the covers as it looked more R&R. After that the bear look stayed for 3rd party pickup manufacturers.
It amazes me but I know why they did it; to pay homage to the original CLASSIC Les Paul, the original '52 was a gold top, aka "urine Colour" lol I prefer the one in this video too its so awesome!
That's a stupid thing to say isn't it? You can't possibly judge the quality of a pickup going by the colour, do you know anything about electric guitars? Granted it doesn't look quite as good but looks have nothing to do with the overall quality or tone.
How do you know they're cheaper? Do you know what pickup is installed? Lots of artists replace the pickups in their guitars to try and achieve their desired sound, price doesn't directly translate to quality all the time.
I looked them up. If he likes them in his Gibson that's fine but its sacrilege to me. If it was an Ibanez or if you had 10 Les Pauls then fine but I could only afford 1 Les Paul and I would dream of changing it.
How can you know what pickups they are from looking them up? Many pickups are available with the same finish. I understand if you would like to keep your Gibson 100% stock, there's nothing wrong with that. However you can't say that the the Slash Signature Les Paul (for example) is in some way of low quality and cheap components. Slash and Pete Townsend both have Les Pauls with Zebra pickups in them and they both sound great to me, although I wouldn't like zebra pickups for the look, not quality
thats my guitar you stole it from me just kiddin hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhhhhaaaaahhhhhaaaaahhhhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Perhaps it was the amp, at home i have an MG100DFX and its bloody nice with the strat, i just dont know :/ maybe i should try a les paul standard...
does anyone know if this guitar is good for getting def leppard sort of sounds...or any hair metal and stuff like that..or is it more of a bluesy sounding guitar???SOMEBODY PLEASE ANSWER

im poor so i can only afford epiphones but my epiphone honestly sounds just as good as this through my line 6
trevwagner094 1 year ago
@trevwagner094 every guitar sounds the same on a line 6...
greensp4rk 3 months ago
@greensp4rk wrong, clean channel + decent pedal = good sound that isnt line 6
trevwagner094 2 months ago
@trevwagner094 yes, but that defeats the purpose of a modelling amp in the first place...

Ljosalfr 2 years ago 7
The original Classics from the 90's had standard coloured inlays.
Why Gibson changed them to that urine colour that you get these days amazes me

The Gibson Les Paul Classic has a solid body, open humbuckers and a 1960 slim profile neck
Mine is a 1993 Honeyburst with an out of hidden phase switch linked to the tone control
The pickguard has 1960 etched in gold and the truss rod cover has the word CLASSIC, again in gold
GreyStrat 3 years ago
I got a Gibson Les Paul copy made by Rally
its really good
it has two covered humbuckers and volume and tone settings for both pickups
ak477394 3 years ago
i heard a classic is just a studio with more cosmetics not a solid body. am i right?

A 12-year old Fender Performer 650
Had it from new
Suits both my Strat, Tele and Les Pauls
I have a 20-Watt Marshall Studio amp but the Fender 650 leaves it for dead

PALM992 3 years ago
you can have an insane amount of drive and distortion on a les paul and it would sound amazing!!
you could have just the clean sound and it would sound like heaven
rymeryme 3 years ago
Individual Les Pauls are surprisingly variable
I have a great LP Classic, a smooth sounding LP Standard and GreySrat - a 1991 USA Strat Plus Deluxe
With a Marshall studio amp and a Fender Perfomer 650, so I am lucky enough to have good combinations of sound

I think this is not honeyburst finish. Seems more like gold top. What zebra pups u put in the bridge?

yah, it seems like the copper or bullion gold.
