The 70s never fails to impress me musically. What a song. Sophie Ellis Bextor's version was shit. It only works if the singer appears to have never spoken English before.
An all time classic song a lovely composition by Rolf Soja best suited voices with best expression lovely violin in background a distinctive feature of all Rolf soja compositions lovely bass lovely guitar all adds up to become a classic that is an all time favourite.

You can blame all that x-factor/reality show crap on the last 2 generations of kids. Overall, kids are not as smart as they were in times past.
I call the young generation the "WHATEVER!" generation because thats what they always seem to say when something doesn't make sense to them (which is pretty much all the time!). Back in the day, music was about the talent. There were manufactured bands too in those days but atleast they had talent compared to most of the crap that's served up today.
Mille mercis. Amitié Aline
oh god..the back in the day this was so much better nostalgia nonsense..I keep reading these on YT...Back in the 70s all the old heads from the 50s and 60s were saying vehemently how this sucked and how much better it was in their day! It only seems better because you have good memories associated with it! It's got nothing to do with things being better or worse now! There's great music and rubbish in every time.
@luornu Truth. If the people saying they wish they'd been around in the late '70s had actually lived then, half of them would have been screaming, "Disco sucks!" and wailing about synthesizers taking the place of "warm," "real," "human-made" instrumentation.
Sounds WAY too much like Thelma Houston's Don't Leave Me This Way,which was also a hit around the same time this song was released.Probably why it didn't chart in the US.
Reminds me of when I was a kid - hearing this on the radio. My 2 yr old son was just dancing to it.. he said 'I'm dancing daddy.." Some things never go out of style!
this song will forever be a time capsule into a time when it was about FUN and TALENT and NOT some fucked up bullshit produced shock value crap that this world has come to be familiar with thanks to the unaware youth of today...
@rpthepr youth today are just as aware as they were during any other period. There is plenty of good music around. People in general are unaware.. i would say people coming to their own in their 20s are always going to be the most aware because they are looking at the world through adult eyes for the first time. We're old souls, with new looks.. We smoke bowls and read books.
@ceejaypeemac oh dear...and I thought that something really happen..and this is just another midlife crisis...you're still young,so stop it,and enjoy your stella :-) cheers!
i dont know what it is about this song it puts me in some trance i get so lost into it ,im 38 and i love this song i have heard it so many times and i everytime i hear it i get lost into it like i shouldhave been dancing to it at 54 or some place
I was a 70's child (not givin away my age much) but remember this......am even singing along to the chorus.....oh god to be a child again.....no scrub that because i'd have to go through teenage-hood again and I didn't like that the first time around.....omg can remember singing into the end of my skipping rope to this.....do they even have skipping ropes with wooden handles anymore lol
@areyoujoking1 no there all plastic jumping ropes. lol yeah i understand what your saying but to go back forget it, i couldnt handel that part of my little life again teenage life was a monster.lol
This song will never go out of style. It is from a point in time represented by two lovely girls from a generation that was more down to earth than todays so called ''stars.'' One day society will go full circle and singers will be like this again.

@luornu Not true ! There was a lot of crap in the sixties but at least there was melody and rhythm unlike the repetitive rubbish they pump out today.
