i think the technical side is excellent but the choreography apart from the amazing tricks lacked "dance" there seemed lots of walking round and only the lifts and "tricks" were the dancers connected

Stop at 1:39 Is not it fabulous? Stop at 2:01 Is not it just incradible? Look at her legs at 2:26 Is not it unbeliavable?! Look at the moves from 3:09 to 3:11 Is not it UNDISCRIBABLE?! Look at the final pose... ...and after this all,say that ballet is not the most beautiful dance in a whole world!!!! That was AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just one side comment that has nothing to do with their performance. Her leotard, under her beautiful tutu looked too white, it almost looked diaper-ish, sort of distracting :S
That throw and catch into the fish dive is pretty spectacular I must say! Unexpected - but it fits the grandeur of the music. I just wish they had not cut the second climax - that is such a thrilling conclusion to this great music, and the these dancers would be up to the challenge. I don't know how they would top that double-twisting throw...
Regardless of what your taste may be, the choreography stays very close to the standard version performed all over the world. The fish dives are added, but the shape of the choreography is the same as the version one could see in Boston, London or, well, Columbia. I don't know these dancers, or this company, but the pas looks well danced. They both are very good--perhaps dry in places--but very good all the same. Not sure where the criticism of the choreography should be applied
I was a dancer at CCB but i got into the bigger classes last year at 11 so it was me 11 and others 12 13 and 14 so it was kinda of intimadating so i quit im kinda sad bc i will not be preticipating anymore in the nutcracker.... GO CCB
This is just ok. Poor choreography, dancer is good but not great, and I don't like the way she keeps opening her mouth. I think the horizontal tour throw into the fish dive was good - but was too much to do it twice in a row.
@lukebccb If it were a local 'troupe' as you say that may be different, but this is a 'professional' ballet company that receives A LOT of local funding. Quality is quality and this is not it. I am just giving an honest critique. I personally know the hard work that goes into every detail of a Ballet and know the sweat and tears behind it and I appreciate the dancers work, but, a professional company should be great, no matter in what city.
@lukebccb also, why lower your standards just because you are in Columbia? There are many truly great dancers that leave Columbia because there is not a company worthy of them staying for. CCB could be great, but is certainly being held back.
this is amazing, her costume is beautiful and her work is magnificent. I can assume that the male lead here is cavalier and he shows her off beautifully.
