  • I remember this game. I hated it even back then.

  • Holy shit, its like playing Extreme Mario Kart

  • I just recently got my copy of Midway Arcade Treasures 3 for PS2. Race Drivin' is frustrating as hell on that version. It lags, it screeches WAY too much, and the control isn't that great, so you have to do everything perfectly or you crash. I've never played this on the actual machine, but I'm assuming it's much better, since people seem to really like this game.

  • i played the crap out of this, trying stunts like crazy, good game for sega, this game does not suck compared to a lot of them out..just bad engine but what you expect

  • This game was the BEST. I played this game for hours (Aladdin's Castle Raleigh NC) so much, I ended up getting a job there. I kept high score on this for ever! I think from like 1991 until I left the company almost five years later. The BEST game, wish it had better graphics though. Still couldnt find anyone beat my score. :)

  • I used to play this when i was five.

I loved to crash in the middle of a Loop :D

  • I played the hell outta the arcade version back in 90 or so. God i love that game and the silly replays of your ridiculous crashes.

  • What would you rate this game out of 5?? Please tell me soon. Thanks

  • About a 3 It's fun after a little bit then I get bored of it and stop playing

  • man when i was a little kid i loved that game. as a treat, every firday when my mom and i would pickup the mail, we stop at the bowling ally next door and i d play a game.

  • Hey!! that game was amazing for its time!! Many of us used to spend hours and hours playing that great arcade game! and that shitty music ruins all sound effects!!

  • Cruis'n USA always had the worst physics.

  • Cruis'n USA was kickass

  • song ruins the vid but the game rocks! That song when you crash is priceless!

  • over game?

  • that was taht coolest thing goin at the time. sure its ancient by todays tech, but c'mon this is still fun!

  • ...wait r u serosuly dssing a game that's history? this was the first 3d racing siulator ever! i'd liketo see you make your own engin and build a better game with the same hardware limits!

  • Holy jeezus! I remember this from YEARS back in the old arcade! I was a kid but jeez lol! ..ha I sucked at this game :P

  • yeah everytime i played it at my granmother's house, i crashed it andmy uncle always laughed at me =( but it's so addicting

  • i played to game when i was little xD

  • I agree totally mate, well said, kinda below the belt slagging off the pyhsic system of a 20 year old engine, I think it's amazing for it's time, all those clocks in front of you, the gear stick, the clutch, I loved this game, Many other games were racing, this was an expereince.

  • se parece a uno que se llama ''STUNTS'' creo que esta peor que este XD

  • Without this game, there would be no Gran Turismo, Forza, etc.

Don't knock the godfather of all driving games.

  • I agree with you

  • @oldhatrs25

I think someone would have eventually got the idea to make a driving simulator... just like these guys eventually did...

  • this was one of the first to feature polyphonic/geometric graphics-it was WAYYYY ahead of other games in 1990. It was actually fun to see how many times you could flip it unintentionally-this game RULED back then; I'm still trying to find one for my house-I could beat every level :-)

  • Like driving a bar of soap at Sea~world.

  • oh god, I am old .... I think I remember this game and yes the physics were retarded at sometimes

  • Back in 1990 and 1991 this was state of the art guys. Cost a dollar to play which was quite a bit for a VIDEO GAME.

  • I spent lots of money on this game. I could make the whole circuit.

  • This game was SO FREAKIN AWESOME when I was ten years old. Summertime at the boardwalk arcade.

  • OMG!!!!!!!!!! ghraf`s suck

  • When I first saw this video, I seriously thought to myself, "Worst Game Ever". But now, I realize for it's time, it was revolutionary. I nominate it for "Worst Aging of a Game".

  • People poke fun at this game's physics today, but this game (particularly Hard Drivin') raised the level of 3D graphics. This game was ahead for it's time.

I remember a long line of people waiting to try their luck with these games. It was a very attractive game and should earn respect.

  • We use to play this at Westworld Arcade in the Marina. We would never play seriously, just run the car off jumps and crash it.

  • But man, c'mon. That game's from the 80's, it was one of the first polygonal 3D games ever, and the first racing simulator ever. It's really awesome for its time.

  • i loved this game

  • Looks like a bad version of Stunts.

  • When I was a kid this game was the best!! It was groundbreaking in its time.

  • Eh, I crash into the sky all the time when I'm driving.

  • This game inspired Sega's Yu Huziku to make Virutal Fighter.

  • this isnt the megadrive version because that one doesnt move. is it the ps1 version?

  • no it's from midway arcade treasures three 3 for the gamecube

  • I have a game by Midway, it's called Extreme Express and it's the most awesome game ever to be made. Or was it midas games? Still epic.

  • "no it's from midway arcade treasures three 3 for the gamecube"

In MAT3 that's the Arcade version, the original.

  • I learned how to powershift on this game when i was 6. It truely taught you how to drive a manual transmission. Anyone who played it will tell you the same

  • i think if a game can teach you how to shift a car at 6 years old + display groundbreaking 3D graphics (in the 80s), this game deserves more respect (not bashing) than most game out there.

the people behind this game had brilliant minds

  • man, this was a great sim back then

  • you know this game is suppose to be a driving simulator right that why the game is not really good...

  • SICK! I'm going to the store to buy this for $73.99! ITS SOOOOO WORTH IT!

  • Love the background music choice - Conker in the club from Conker's BFD! That brough back better memories than this game :)

  • i never liked this game

  • Love this game as a kid.. never seemed to get pass that hill eazy.. always crasheded O_O

  • I remember this game.... more often than not, I'd kill myself on purpose just to see some of the insane crashes.

Could have done without the music, but music aside, this was awesome, and a nice trip down memory lane.

  • over game?

  • it actually does say game over but if you pause or stop the game before the words scroll properly then it looks like it says over game

  • You game with the worst graphics. It was/is a superb driving simulator. I spent many quarters on this game at a KOA campground in Nashville...

  • ok 1st of all im going to speak my opinion this game does not suck the CRASHES are bad becouse youre not suppose to crash however the physics when your drivin are good

2nd the game was made in freakin 89 so the physics arnt suppose to be like gta or somthin

  • not only that but the Midway Arcade Treasures game had blurry graphics compared to actually playing it on the real arcade machine.

  • vitua racing 32x bitch! now what!!!

  • I feel like I'm playing a Cruis'n game, except your car actually gets destroyed.

  • I so hate this game! I played on Midway Arcade Treasures Vol. 3 for the PS2. I can't even drive/accelerate in the darn game! No matter if I choose AT or MT transmission. It sucks!!!!!!

  • Midway fucked up this game in their Arcade Treasure conversion. Try the MAME one (provided you really have a powerful PC) and you'll see it plays just like the arcade.

  • Well, superallye, the arcade version is probably better.

  • It is better. Lazy arses at Midway degraded the gameplay on their Arcade Treasures.

  • i just bought this machine for $14 AUD!!! Sweet

  • from what ive seen, this game doesnt beat big rigs in terms of defying every possible phyical law.

  • I loved this game..you could make your own obstacles.

  • Judging from your comment, you have played the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive version. None of the other versions let you do this. It's the only other Hard Drivin' game other than Hard Drivin' 2: Drive Harder, which was released for the PC, Amiga, and Atari ST, that lets you create your own tracks. I also seem to remember Hard Drivin' 2 having a much more robust track editor than Race Drivin' on the Genesis/MD.

  • omg 0:11 was the funniest shit i've seen. I laughed into my drink and it spilled out, wtf was going on there??

  • The old seated arcade machine for this was great, it had the shakey feedback too.

  • this game rocks

  • this game is actually called hard drivin' and i love this game ecause it sucks so bad

  • Actually, no, it's Race Drivin, it's the sequel to the Hard Drivin, theres no much difference, just more graphical and more tracks, type it in on you tube and you see what I mean.

  • oh...ur right

  • Thanks for this. I put a lot of time in on a 3-screen arcade machine version of Super Stunt Track back about 15 years ago.

  • Is this game from 1990?

  • it would be better if this game comes in the end of the 80's and figths The Duel: TD2

  • too bad you couldn't have drove off the cliff faster, you may have been able to launch the car into space! sweet!

  • I would always crash into the cow. Yes the game was very poor, however, the most fun I had with it was measuring the distance that I would bounce back after hitting an object ha ha so fun the faster you went into something the futhur you would bounce back. Obviously the best results came from the desert yellow car. I thinks its the fastest in the game if I am correct.

  • it is the fastest but the catch is that it has a manual transmission. So it can be hard to use

  • lmao i remember this. i was able to build my own map jumps loops etc..

  • lmao i remember this. i was able to build my own map jumps loops etc..

  • I had this game and I liked it, but that was because I was five years old at the time, and thought that the fact that the game was in 3d made it good.

  • The interface, art and graphics are really nice, but I wish the physics aren't as bad as you said.

  • This game is very realistic, nice !

  • This game was so fun yet so hard and dumb.

  • Its got "Game PWNS Player" written all over it.

  • Oh, god. I remember this game from when I was five years old at our local YMCA. It was AWFUL!

  • who doesn`t love conker`s bad fur day?

    awsome song

  • i got this game in ARCADE GAME PACKING for XBOX... i dont remember the name, i will check out...

  • This game is hard, however once you get use to it, it is really fun(in the arcade with a proper steering wheel). You could actually feel the understeer, lift-throttle oversteer and all that.

  • The song is from conker's bad fur day.

  • What?

  • i played this on a collection of old games, but i could not get very far beacause the car made wide turns. it was realy hard, or maybe i just suck.

  • it reminds me of south park

  • The game is great in the arcade versions. The driving shown here is really limited. We played this so much we were doing amazing things like speeding up the vertical, popping the clutch on a low rpm to create a forward pitch, then flying over perfectly landing vertical on the downside....it is so fun.

  • do you remember the name of this game called

  • Race Drivin, read the title

  • I remember this damn game in an arcade, I could never get past that damn loop. -_-

  • That's Nothing Compared To Burnout Paradise's Crash Physics

  • Funny thing happened on a game like that. After I respawn from a crash, as soon as I hit the gas, I fell through the road for 10 second until I crash.

  • try drive a good lap!

This game was INSANE when it came, vector graphicks and force feedback, clutch, 4 gears etc.

    Playing when baked was undescribable

  • you mean a lap with no crashes

  • crashes were weird, as shown here...but DRIVING in this game was wonderful through the steering feedback!

  • ive played that game sadly it sucked

  • this looks like a game you can get free out of a cereal box

  • when this game came out in the arcades, it was the SH*T. it had steering response, the car acted more or less like a real car would.

video game machines SUCKED, youd find this game on like a sega genesis or something..

  • I have no problem with the game itself just found the weird stuff you can do on it funny, and this is the version for the arcades just played on the gamecube with arcade treasures three.

  • Remember, this makes perfect sense.

  • I really liked this game, sry :<

  • What is this game's obsession with tunnels? (sublyminal message maybe?)

  • OVER GAME!!!
