when we had someone in our guild die, we didn't post it up on the forum no matter how sweet and nice we made it sound. To us it was our own personal grief and when we did our memorial to them we kept it "in the guild" which I think is how it should have been done.
they should have done it in a raid instance or something where no one would have bothered them, there are plenty of nice instance backgrounds that would have served as a nice place to set up a memorial

This is a legendary raid. The truth is, because of the crash, Fayejin's name will always be remembered by the WoW community.
Now, four years later, it's apparent that what Serenity Now did had positive influence. After all, a funeral is a ceremony to honor someone's memory; and it can't be helped watching this video to feel sympathy towards Fayejin.

I forgot all about this. Think I saw it soon after it was released. What happened there was messed up on so many levels, but both parties are at fault. Holding it in PVP territory and asking nicely for nobody to ruin it was just begging for those guys to attack.

On the one side, I think it's cool that they did a memorial in game for her and that it's sad they crashed it, though I mostly think it's sad because they were recording it and sending it to her family only for it to get ruined by a group of dicks...
On the other hand, the girl already had a real funeral and you cannot and should not expect ANYTHING to be sacred on the internet. I must admit I lol'd a little but the whole thing was in poor taste...

Real pvp'ers only play BGs? Weird I could have sworn world PvP was there before any Battleground. And that we ALL had to go thru high levels greifing the shit out of our characters. Plus its just so much fun! Who didnt run train on some random contested zone taking out every lowbie they could get their hands on? Not to mention when the other big kids come out to play you get some amazingly epic battles, followed by some amazingly epic kills. Non of this vent uber tank BG shit. Real world pvp.

when we had someone in our guild die, we didn't post it up on the forum no matter how sweet and nice we made it sound. To us it was our own personal grief and when we did our memorial to them we kept it "in the guild" which I think is how it should have been done.
they should have done it in a raid instance or something where no one would have bothered them, there are plenty of nice instance backgrounds that would have served as a nice place to set up a memorial

Both sides have a point. It was pretty dumb to have the funeral in the first place. You guys could of done something else, like talked about her amongst yourself and not posting someones death on forums. The alliance were being douche bags when they did attack because the forum asked for no one to mes it up, i could see if it was for revenge but the attack was uncalled for and inappropriate. They were just trying to do something nice for their friend.

Heres a concept, if you don't want to be interupted doing something sacred to you, than don't use the honor system to enforce it. further, IT'S A WOW ACCOUNT NOT A REAL FUNERAL, NO ONE GIVES A SHIT ABOUT YOUR GAME AVATAR.
If I die, i don't want my D&D character to have a similar funeral. I don't care.

This is a legendary raid. The truth is, because of the crash, Fayejin's name will always be remembered by the WoW community.
Now, four years later, it's apparent that what Serenity Now did had positive influence. After all, a funeral is a ceremony to honor someone's memory; and it can't be helped watching this video to feel sympathy towards Fayejin.

I forgot all about this. Think I saw it soon after it was released. What happened there was messed up on so many levels, but both parties are at fault. Holding it in PVP territory and asking nicely for nobody to ruin it was just begging for those guys to attack.
Still, it's something to watch, and the music it's set to holds it together.
