She should be forced to give birth to a child she doesn't want to raise? If abortion is banned then women will be forced to go to back alley clinics which are inexperienced and unprofessional, many women will die if that happens.

@ih8tu100 People have sex for pleasure not just for babies. In the case of a rape the first wrong is the rape the second wrong is taking away a woman's freedom over her reproductive health. Back alley clinics are the result of areas without proper abortion clinics and you can blame the pro-lifers for that. Saying "adoption" doesn't mean anything because the woman has a right to do what she wants with her body. Also pro-choicers promote contraception, abortion is a last resort.

@Madz1987 the latest an abortion can be performed is 24 weeks into the pregnancy. a heart beat usually forms around 3 weeks. that means the baby already has a heartbeat...thats the way we judge if an adult is alive, so it should be the same for a baby. an abortion is killing the possiblity of a life, and in modern society, almost a guarantee for a life....and I would say that it is better to have the woman feel sadness in knowing that she doesnt raise her baby, then actually killing a baby
@ih8tu100 The heart actually starts beating at 6 weeks and the tone of the heart can be heard at 9 weeks. As I said the late term (24 week) abortions are very rare and mostly in cases where the baby is diseased and a threat to the mother's life. Without abortion women wouldn't have the same freedom as men who can just walk away. Without abortion women are opressed and treated like vessels for carrying men's children.

Also your adoption solution doesn't work either because adopted children are less likely to bond with the adopting parents and are more likely to turn violent when they're older. Which forces women to go to these sorts of places, yes it is their decision but they are given no choice. The have the baby and raise it or adoption choices are simply unnaceptal in the 21st century. That is why more and more countries and more and more states are legalizing abortion. The law and the science is generally on the pro-choice side.

Although that's true, it is not actually killing a baby that is forming like in an abortion. There does not need to be a distinction between surgical abortion and medical abortion. @ih8tu100 I find it hard to believe there are women out there who go out and get drunk without being on the pill, have sex, get pregnant, have an abortion and then repeat the whole process all over again. The reasons women have abortions are hardly under those circumstances.

I'm using the heartbeat to show that abortions can occur after it has started. even before a heartbeat, it's like stepping on a small stem of a growing plant. its not a plant yet but it has the potential to be a plant. any termination of a fetus that is even partially growing is murder. ectopic pregnancy is the only scenario where killing a fetus is justified. however, in this case, the baby would die anyway so it makes sense to save the mother

The embryo/fetus is not alive in the same we are, it's completely dependent on it's mother for nourishment and devolopment, it cannot survive outside of the womb. So how can you classify it as an individual person when it's basically an extention of the mother at that stage? The mother has the say (with medical advice) over what she does with the contents of her body.

The fact is that the majority of abortions occur during the early embryonic stages and only a tiny minority of abortions occur during the later fetal stages. An early human embryo is just a bundle of cells, it has less cells than the brain of a fly. Even at the fetal stage the fetus is not conscious.

Some women can't afford to take care of a baby and if they did have a child they'd probably end in an orphanage unless you want to take care of them. the best way to prevent birth is of course with condoms and birth control though obviously. tough decision either way.

Back alley clinics are the result of areas without proper abortion clinics and you can blame the pro-lifers for that. As I said the late term (24 week) abortions are very rare and mostly in cases where the baby is diseased and a threat to the mother's life. Without abortion women wouldn't have the same freedom as men who can just walk away. Without abortion women are opressed and treated like vessels for carrying men's children.

The fact is that the majority of abortions occur during the early embryonic stages and only a tiny minority of abortions occur during the later fetal stages. An early human embryo is just a bundle of cells, it has less cells than the brain of a fly. Even at the fetal stage the fetus is not conscious.

@baezalejandro having a child is a womans decision. I don't think either of us have the right to force the woman to have the baby or not. Some women can't afford to take care of a baby and if they did have a child they'd probably end in an orphanage unless you want to take care of them. the best way to prevent birth is of course with condoms and birth control though obviously. tough decision either way.

@baezalejandro The woman should decide depending on how developed the fetus is, science says after 20 weeks of pregnancy you cannot abort it.
So the woman is supposed to have a child and not be able to support it so in the end the child will suffer from starvation when it's completely developed which is much worse, the only alternative is an orphanage that is overcrowded.

what happens if you DONT kill a sperm, an egg, or a zygote (fertilized egg)?
The egg and sperm will ALWAYS remain the same and eventually die naturally.
The zygote however, IF allowed to live, will develop and continue to develop until around 21 YEARS OF AGE (as any regular human) and will not die until the average human life expectancy of 75 years!!!
THAT is why human life begins at conception!!!! no religious perspective needed!

@baezalejandro what the fuck are you talking about? Its obviously not true biology, it must be some kind of conservative christian pseudo-science. The Zygote does not last for 21 years; the zygote develops into an embryo, then a fetus, and finally a human being. When I mean developed I mean the baby has everything it needs to live (i.e a heart, brain, lungs, etc.) NOT that it is fully grown into an adult, that is different. A 12 week old fetus does NOT have everything it needs to live.

@baezalejandro I never said that it makes anyone less human, It is FACT that if you take an early stage fetus out of the womb it will die. Its lungs are not fully developed and can't take in oxygen. People who have BIRTH DEFECTS or GENETIC DISORDERS (not "mutations") are that way because of genetics. Fetus' cells are dividing to FORM organs and people born without certain genetic traits are like that because their DNA failed to have the cells divide to form a certain organ or do a certain thing.
