Just a few questions about insurance; how old are you when you got it insured and how much was it? because i imagine this makes a big difference! I'm going to be 17 so I imagine mine will be ridiculous!
Anyone here ever took there restriction out????? I'm getting a 650 bandit but not gona bother putting it in! Just sold my 2000 r6 because insurance was £1400 where's a 2006 650 bandit is £247 :-) what would the cops do if they think it's not?? Would they take the bike straight away or tell you to go to a garage????
Fi international do the kits for nearly every bike! But they about £170 go on eBay they about £30-£50 and on eBay there's a company called NOS that do them for £140 or 2nd hand ones :-)
hi any one know were i could get the restrictor kit for this bike many thanks and is ristricing it worth fuel injectors the same with the washers many thanks
how is it restricted? by washers in the air intake or throttle restricted? i am confised and need help lol cause soon i will be passed and looking to restrict a cbr 600 f
hey, i really am convinced into getting a cbr 600 f or a thundercat restricted. but i was wondering about how much it costs to actually restrict it? and whether you need to send off a special certificate to your isurance or summat? :S
Seeing as your near binbrook do you go to willingham woods? during the summer i live in caistor and go there on my CG125 i think i am the only L-plate warrior there
Hey guys, currently got a cbr125r, moving onto my full license in the spring (it's gettin colder now so not much point in takin the test at winter!) I wanna grab a cbr600f, reckon it's a good buy? obv it'll be restriced, but I tried checking ninja 250r prices but they're ridiculous! the father said the 600f is better for me than the 600r as the seating position is more comfortable.
i've got a cbr 6f 05 model restricted, my insurance is £1500 after being knocked down from £2500 with MCE, although that is fully comp inc. buisness commuting, pillion cover, european cover and i'm only 18 so is quite a bit anyway. Got mine to 113 so far, had it bout 4 months, so bloody fed up with the resrictor already!! Wheeliing is not overly easy, got to rev it to like 9,000rpm while going bout 12mph then just drop the clutch while sitting as far back as poss! Real nice bike though. :)
Watch out for plod then, matey :-) I had 3 points on my licence from when I had my 125. A few months ago I was doing about 100 on the M1 on my Firestorm. Hardly any traffic, Sunday night and I got pulled over by a traffic copper. Luckily he took pity on me and didn't give me 3 more points. If he had i'd have to take the test again.
Yeah i'm always keeping an eye out all the time cant afford to get any more points as a i think i got caught by a camera down the A303 2 days ago, was doing 100, saw the camera, slammed on brakes and slid but dont think i slowed down in time :S i'll soon find out...
@willadams160 I've ridden my 'Storm for a couple of years now and I haven't been tempted to indulge in any showboating, because I respect motorcycling for the art that it is.
I've concentrated on handling, geometry of the bike and body positioning. Nailing a corner through knowledge gained & practice is the biggest buzz ever.
I know you're 18 and boisterous, but remember it's not like a car - when you pass your bike test, it is the start of your learning process. Not the end of it.
do you live in brookenby or binbrook by any chance he he ? cuz i noticed u went past ravendale an round ashby-cum fenby round about an the down barton street
@mybikevideos where abouts ? at the minet im on a moped pmsl *i know* im hopefully getting a zx6r an resticting it to 33bhp , u on a full bike licence ?
if you are getting insurance on one of these bikes like me (cbr 600) it was £529.63 on comparethemarket. cOm with MCE. When i phoned them up to tell them that the power had been restricted to the same as my previous price they knocked it down to £389.90. think you were ripped off with £1300. :s
@00speeddemon00 Well thats odd as when I rang them up to tell them I had got it UNrestricted they said it doesnt matter as they dont make it any cheaper when its restricted. Guess it depends who you get answering your call...
@mybikevideos Just a question about these bikes when they're 33bhp restricted. Whats the acceleration like? Whats the top speed? Will they still rev to the redline and how are they for overtaking/off the line power?
@mikeyisace07 It depends what you are coming from as to how fast it will feel - I had this bike after I had only previously been on a Honda CBR125 and it felt amazing compared to that. Top speed I had out of mine while it was restricted was about 105 mph and it got to 60 in 6 or 7 seconds. They don't rev to the redline when restricted, only to about 9000 RPM, but still easy to overtake any normal traffic on it. Hope that helps
@mybikevideos Hey dude, I live in cleethorpes which isn't too far from Binbrook. What is the throttle movement like? I have just bought a 2006 cbr 600f from a cbr 125 and ill have to have mine restricted and I do hope to notice a difference
@00speeddemon00 £1500 for me third party on a 33 bhp zx6r b1h, yeah i know, fucking bullshit. Companies are tending not to touch restricted bikes now because they are so easy to de-restrict then get binned ...
Yeah that was how it was on mine, I think there were 3 places that they fitted restrictors to in total. If you have got any more questions head over to themotorbikeforum . c0m (had to type it weird cos youtube wont let me type a normal URL...)
well the bike is pretty much exactly the same up to 8000 RPM, but then the restrictor stops you going above about 9000 so you have to change gear at 8000 really. I remember when I first went on it I thought it accelerated really quick but like anything you soon get used to it and it doesnt feel as fast. I've got it unrestricted now and like I said, up to 8000 RPM its the same as it was when it was restricted, just after that its a lot more fun ;)
It depends on what CBR600, the F or the RR ? My mate has a 33bhp CBR600RR and he's had 115mph out of it with a little bit to go. The F is a lot more affordable but its a bit heavier so id imagine 110mph would be top whack with 33bhp unless you had a tail wind, hope that helps.
Yeah 105 - 110 was the most I ever got out of it when it was restricted. Its unrestricted now (after I finally got to take my test) and the fastest I have had it so far is 120 mph (on a track day)
Its still restricted at the moment and I havent tried downgearing it. I passed my Module 1 test last week and got my Module 2 booked for this Thursday so hopefully it wont be restricted by this time next week :)
I did a restricted test a few months ago - you can take it on a 125 before you are 21 (because if you were over 21 you would just do the normal 'unrestricted' test). So that then lets you ride anything with 33bhp for 2 years and then after that you can ride anything. I dont want to wait 2 years though so now that I am 21 I am taking my unrestricted test
for what? Its cost quite a lot seen as I had to have a few lessons and obviously pay for the test itself when I did the test the first time on my 125, then I've had a couple of lessons to prepare for the Mod 1 and Mod 2 this time (they hadnt brought the new test in when I took my first test) and then got to pay for this test as well. Probably over £300 altogether.
Loving your videos mate. Been riding a YBR 125 for nearly 2 years and finally got round to doing my [restricted] test. Think you just about sold me on this bike! :P
Thanks :) Are you under 21 then? If not then you might want to do the unrestricted test. I've had my restricted bike for a few months now and I'm doing the full test in a couple of weeks (module 1 anyway, then I'll book module 2) so that I can get mine unrestricted
Ye I'm 20. Before reading this I thought once you've done the restricted test, you wait until you're 21 (not 2 years), then you automatically qualify for unrestricted. But looking at it again, the Accelerated test needs doing (if under 2 yrs experience. I'm assuming that's what you're going for). Do you know how different this is to the Standard test?
I'm looking to get this aswell, got my theory test on wednesday then doing an intensive 5 day course thing :D Only problem is getting the money, i am spending all my money on the lessons and will have none left for a bike :(
Yeah it is expensive getting your test passed and getting a bike (and insurance). Once you get on it and feel that acceleration though (even restricted) you realise its worth it :)
If a car its going at 50mph - 55mph how does the bike overtake??? Does it struggle or does it pull away at a decent speed. Sorry for all the questions its just that im getting a 33bhp bike after i pass my test hopfully in the next 2 or 3 weeks. I was also thinking about getting a CBR600F because on the 600RR the insurance is too expensive, for me at 17 its about £2000 lol
at 50mph the bike still overtakes pretty easily, its when you start getting to about 70 - 80 that you notice its not as easy to overtake.
Yeah I was looking at getting the 600RR but again the insurance was too expensive (im 20). To be honest im quite glad i got the 600F as its much more comfy and better for taking pillion passengers.
If you havent already then check out my other two videos of the 600F, there's one of me doing 0 - 60 and another that is just a general montage :)
Depends on what age you are...If your 19-20 its not so bad, but if your 17 then it will cost about £1400 third party fire and theft - which is dodgey!!!
£1400? if your 17 then its a way better idea to get a 250 or something, i have a Kawasaki gpx250 1996 (older version of the ninja 250), it cost around £250 for me to insure at 17 and 0-60 is under 6 sec and i can keep up in the twisties with my friend who has a unrestricted cbr600f
But i'm only 17, we are restricted to a bike no bigger than 125cc no matter what the HP output is. If i get a 1000cc engine that only puts out 5hp i still can't use it lol.
no your not, at 17 you can take your full test and then u are restricted to 33bhp (a 250 is usually around this) and after 2 years (when your 19) u can ride anything.
Depends how old it is and where you live. I had a 2008 CBR125 (see my other vids) that I bought when it was only 5 months old and that was £2000 if that helps..
Nah I wouldnt say a bargain, they are only £2700 brand new. I bought it from a dealer, im sure I could of gotten a slightly cheaper one if I had bought it privately and looked around more.
nah its because im under 21 and have only got my restricted license. I'll be taking my full test when im 21 in a few months and can then get it derestricted
restrictors so anyoing still got like 16 months left till they come out on my honda hornet cant wait lol....
