Beautiful!I have a better idea, why don't we all (I mean immigrants) submit an application form to claim that we are worthy to vote and live in Ireland.For example, I've been resident in Ireland over 5 years.During this period I've received 3rd level degree, have been volunteering and taking part in national campaigns.I was representing Ireland abroad last year.Am I worthy enough to vote and live in Ireland?If not,don't bother,just shoot me.I'm sure you're capable enough of such act of JUSTICE!

EU migrant workers who return to their country of origin after 12 months working here can claim back ALL the Income tax they have paid in their home country.

Once they have done this, they can then come back and do the same again!

Since I was born and raised in the north of Ireland I was only taught and heard of northern and British politics. so sorry for my ignorance. But i am interested in what is happening to the rest of my beautiful country since one day it will affect me (well is) and my future children.

it may not affect you someday!think about it if there is to be a united ireland there will have to be a vote!many people may not vote, some in the south are opposed to unification it will upset the balance of power,electoral boundaries will be redraw!add to this the votes of hundreds of thousands of immigrants who knows what will happen ! giving votes to immigrants is fianna fails way of boosting their votes into the future ,an immigrant would probably vote for the party that allowed him to vote

They are giving voting rights to immigrants...hmmm tricky.suppose everybody has the right to vote in principle but do the immigrants newly shipped in know how,what&why they are supposed to be voting for ie the history of the parties and if they can uphold the mandate the push forward etc .That I am unsure of.otherwise immigrants will just vote for the politican that supports their needs (easy votes!I am not sure how it is in the free state but in the north of Éire it's basically a 2 horse race.

This is how it will work, Fianna Failure give voting rights to the foreigners, in return the foreigners are going to vote for Fianna Failure because they gave them voting rights.

Voting rights should be for Irish citizens only, even local elections.
