Continued: My only worry is that when they're removed I will find more breakage. My stylist seems very talented so I think she will minimize any damage, but I got the extensions due to breakage so I fear more. The extensions have been great though--no problem sleeping on them or washing my hair. And waist-length hair--wow!

I had really nice (but not Great Lengths) extensions put in two and a half months ago because my hair broke off a lot after straightening. Now I have almost waist-length hair and I love it. About six strands have fallen out in the 2.5 months, but there are lots remaining. I would have gotten Great Lengths but there was no salon offering that in my town. I believe the method used was similar though--keratin bond, which seems kind of like glue.

I've been wanting extensions, but now that I think about it, I'm going to get synthetic hair. It makes me sort of sad to see all that human hair go to people who already have hair, when it could be used for wigs for people with cancer! Don't give me any negative replies... i have great length in my hair for two years now (of corse not the same bonds the whole time, i keep them in for 3-6 month) and it is definately not hard to sleep on them...even when i got them for the first time i had no problems..i love them :)

I love when you tell people you have extensions and they are like "I can tell its fake" but its 100% human hair. People are so skeptical about extensions because they think it's being "fake" and they are like "I wanna grow my hair out" well extensions wont STOP your hair from growing it will just give you length until you're actual hair reaches the desired Length and if you wear them properly and take care of them well nobody will be able to tell you have them. Plus they give you amazing volume!

@JkDizzy I'm all for hair extensions! They rock, however one thing to keep in mind is it only requires one strand of human hair for them to label it as "100% Human Hair" .. so sometimes you may think your getting the real deal when really your not. Sadly.

I *have* had hair extensions, and although they are not for everyone (is anything, really?) I did not have any noticeable damage to my own hair after we took them out. Granted, I did not keep them in for the extended 8 months like some people do, but rather we took them out in about 2 months. I had a great stylist and I took good care of them too...

I just got myhair cut ( about shoulder length but lots of short layers in back ( ahhhhhhh ) so will it look like really fake if I have long extensions put in?

i have natraully curly hair and i straghten it and putting this in it wouldnt work because when i go to wash it my natrual hair will be curly and then the extentions will be straight.

i will look stupid!

My hair is very curly and I wear straight extensions and after I wash my hair I pin up each layer of extenuation and straighten my hair in between bonds it takes a long time though

you might used or got hair that had a silicone coating on it. Or you might used shampoos/conditioners with silicone (Pantene)? Silicone seals the hair and thats why you cannot dye it really well.

Well, I am not sure. What I know is, that the Frutcis shampoos are actually very aggressive because of the fruit acid. You should not use it having a hair extensions becaus it affects the integrity of the keratin-bondings and makes them extremly soft

and bendable though brittle. May you wash them once or thwice with it, it won't happen but it could remove the silicon coating.

Though the dangerous thing by doing so is that if it is not a remy hair it could knot. It is your decision and you must balance the reasons.

Great Lengths extensions cost anywhere from $500 to $3000 depending on your goals (length? thickness? both?) the length you want, and how much hair you need. Thicker your natural hair, the more hair you'll need to achieve a blended look if you want extra length

this didn't tell me anything i need to know before getting hair extensions. it didn't say how long they last, or what kind of damage to expect when fusing this hair to my natural hair.  if you want to sell people something, give them the information they need to make a confident purchase.

hello,I am a hairdresser in Canada and i do extensions as a living. maybe this advice will help you chose.. go with real human hair and not synthetic fibers because synthetic fibers are fake,and they look like Halloween wigs(all shiny ad plastic looking)you also can't apply heat curling iron/straightener)on synthetic extensions but you can on real human extensions.ALSO,the clips are removable every night and can be put back in every morning.you choose when you want to wear them.are not permanent

The extensions last 3-5 months depending on how well you take care of them. I had noth sets in for 3 1/2 months because I have very thin hair. It did no damage what so ever to my hair. Since I do have thin hair I was a little scared, but my hair is the exact same, it even grew a lot! Other then that... I'm sure I covered everything. ( I did say "It's not damaging what so ever")

Right, well either your lying or you took extra extra care for your hair, but I can safely say sleeping on those hair extensions is hard!! you feel the bumpyness of the wax in your scalp. it also definitely pulled my hair out and some wax was left in and looked horrible.

Well you must not have had great lenghts in then. Some stylists are careless when they put them in and when they take them out, which can cause some breakage. My hair was fine.

I had Racoon hair extensions. cost me £520 and it's the ones celebrities use these days so I doubt it was down to them.

As for the hairdresser, she was a professional from Toni and Guy, and when taking them out there was no pulling at all

In the video, I'm applying Great Lengths extensions not Racoon. In the US, celebrities wear Great Lengths and when put in correctly, there's little to no damage. And I'm PRETTY sure, actually, positive that there are no Toni and Guy salons in the United States that put in hair extensions.

@Sole911 Thats why you get clip in hair extensions. I just hang them up at knight and I can curl em straighten them much more easily people I do it when it's not attached to my hair. You don't need to wash clip in extensions ever unless you curl them which means they last much much longer.

@JkDizzy LOL I've been wearing clip in hair extensions for 3-4 years now. I just buy the weave pack because you get a lot of hair there and then I cut the hair and sew the clips on myself.
