@psychghost its my understanding that the 2nd is slightly better to use. although ive seen many people among friends (being less formal) say ni hao ma.
I will be doing a year of foreign exchange in Taiwan starting this August so I am very appreciative of your videos. I was wondering if you had any suggestions of mandarin language characteristics that I should be paying special attention to?
I'd like to have some online classes and to practice my mandarin with you Peggy... I'm still in the beginning... if you have skype, please add me "rodrigoprf10"... or else, send me a e-mail...
'Cuo4' is the one I found in the dictionary. But when I was teaching the same material a few years ago, my foreign students said 'Tswo4' made more sense to them. :)
The dictionary says "cuo4" but when i was teaching some foreign students Mandarin here in Taiwan the same materials before, they told me "tswo4" should be the spelling of what it sounds like.
Pinyin could be confusing sometimes, it depends on which one makes more sense to you. I hope it helps! :*)
It was spelled "cuo4" in my worksheet when I was in one of my tutor classes and my students corrected it into "tswo4". Pinyin could be really confusing.
Anyways thank you for the tip. I've been sick for nearly a week, I will certainly upload new videos this weekend! :)
Sorry about not having Chinese characters in this video either as it was already uploaded three days ago(before I got all the suggestions about characters uploaded) and has been published just now.
This weekend, I will be recording more new lessons. I will definitely add Chinese characters when I edit my videos. :)

Where can we find how to write the tswo4 character?
nate91han 2 years ago
tswo4 = 錯
I am sorry that I'm at the moment unable to provide the sequence of the strokes due to the lack of the software.
PeggyTeachesChinese 2 years ago
@PeggyTeachesChinese do you say Ni Zui Jin Hao Ma, or just Zui Jin Hao Ma?
nate91han 2 years ago
Both are the same. Sometimes speakers just omit the 'you': zui jin hao ma?, because the listener knows that I am talking to him or her. :)
PeggyTeachesChinese 2 years ago
peggy you are great teacher, and you are adorable, yeah i would definetely subscribe! :)

Im just wondering ...
Is "TSWO" the correct pinyin spelling?
neekoseeko 2 years ago
The dictionary says "cuo4" but when i was teaching some foreign students Mandarin here in Taiwan the same materials before, they told me "tswo4" should be the spelling of what it sounds like.
Pinyin could be confusing sometimes, it depends on which one makes more sense to you. I hope it helps! :*)
PeggyTeachesChinese 2 years ago
Pinyin is very important to me because I use it to type chinese.
neekoseeko 2 years ago
That is surely a significant fact for Mandarin learners that I neglected. Sorry about that, I will use official pinyin. :)

If someone asked me zui jin hao ma, and then I replied, what would I do to ask them back?
Repeat zui jin hao ma? Or is there a shorter phrase such as the "And you?" response in english

"How am I in bed?"
"Hai hao."
ColinTheMedStudent 2 years ago
You got it! :D
PeggyTeachesChinese 2 years ago
Does "hen" also mean "very"? To say 'I love you very much,' would you say 'wo hen ai ni,' or 'wo tai ai ni'?
ColinTheMedStudent 2 years ago
We would say "wo hen ai ni."
"Tai" means "too". So if you say "wo tai ai ni", it means "I love you too much."
Jia You! :)

when I say "so so" is preferable "Hai Hao" or "ma ma hu hu"?
wind04 2 years ago
They both mean the same thing. But more people would say "Hai hao". :)
PeggyTeachesChinese 2 years ago
i though how are you in chinese is ni hao ma?
reenocosca 2 years ago
Ni hao ma is certainly correct but not so colloquial. :)
PeggyTeachesChinese 2 years ago
You got the pinyin wrong. I think 'wrong' should be written as 'cuo4' not 'tswo4'.
I look forward to your next video.
