@stijnxd It should run them just fine but dont expect it to run the highest settings as qquick as a newer gaming computer. I got the XPS like 5 years ago and I still use it when im at home but technology moves on quickly so you might actually want to get something newer if you can. Dont get me wrong its an amazing machine but unfortunately as I mentioned technology evolves fast.

@JAAPJXBIT as I look at the recomended minimum specs for black ops and MW3 the video card and proccesor that are in this laptop are always mentioned so I gues I'll be fine

and let's admit it, €250 for a laptop that once had a price tag of over €1000 is a bargen..

@stijnxd thats true man 250 is a good deal! Its a beatiful computer if you get it you wont be dissapointed specially for that price! I dont use mine as much as i did since now im traveling a lot and now i own a smaller alienware but I love to put some music on my good old XPS and watch its lights dance :)

Well as i said in a coment before, like any other computer it will become slower with the time depending how you use it. I like to put alot of crap in my pcs and now my xps is not as nice as it was but it is worth it trust me. Also for an alienware try to get one by internet from another country not from your country, it might be cheaper.

My XPS was almost 4k dolars.

Yes it is, its a great machine but like any other computer dont fill it with alot of bullcrap cuz it will become slow eventually. And as far as i know there is a new one that dell released a couple months ago, i dont think the m1730 is still in their website. Also try checking aienwares they are pretty good too.

yeah i got the same comp but i have the extreme processor and the x2 512mb sli gtx 8800's :) but u go to the dell quickset near the time on ur tool bar.. go to gaming options and then system, gaming options led effects then tick the wmp itunes and win amp then in media player click the add on and then click on the visualisation and then click on bottom dell xps effect 1,2 or 3 i prefer 3 more colour changes.. :D have fun

Im about to kick mine out the door, its always over heating, graphics are not the best, and i have the physics card aswell. Worst $3500(AU) I ever spent, although it was good when I first got it, Last year in November. Your better off spending $3500 and getting a kick ass pc.

im sorry but xps looks so ugly when the lights flicker...the the alieware notebooks are much nicer looking and has a better lighting system also the back of the alienware is alot sexier than this...the alien head sticks out in differnt colours which just gives it a real mean look to it!!

I know you can control the other vanity lights with Dell Quickset, but I can not figure out how to turn off the back light.

Your xps should have a program called Dell quickset were you have light options, i dont know how to turn those lights off cuz i havent tried but u can explore the options and see if its posible.

go to dell quickset then go to gaming options and you can toggle on and off the back lights by checking/unchecking the "Enable back panel wings and badge LEDs" option in the top right hand corner of the LED control tab.

there is a simple fix to the sound glitch problem...you need to create a power profile using dell quickset and make sure any graphics or performance settings are set to max and set that use that profile and it should be fine...that fix works for XP not sure about vista

The XPS speakers have that little problem its the only thing i dont like of this computer, if you have the volume to high (or at least thats my problem) you´ll get that cracking little sound specially with songs that have alot of instruments like techno or hard rock but you can set it up in the speaker pannel that u should have in control panel of your xps if not try contacting DELL for further info but even if u get a new set of speakers the problem will remain so its actually a factory problem

Well, You will have Vista. Search For Quickset and then a Icon should apear in your tray(bottom right of screen). Right Click, Open. Click System, Gaming Options. You can control all of the light effects from there.

Thats an ignorant view, it can do anything you want it to whether you're running vista or xp, from word processing, and 3d designing to extreme gaming...cut out all of the crapware that comes with vista and it will run at the same level as xp. Don't disagree, because it may use more ram, but its superfetch ability allows it to open programs faster, so the average speed is equal.

Nop unfortunately not, i have the 8700m, i bought it just days before the release of the 8800m, i was mad but oh well there is not a really huge difference between both and im happy with this card for now.

I don't want to bust your bubble, but the difference between both are HUGE.

A single card is faster then 2 8700's in SLi.

A pair of 8800's together are performance wise almost 3x as fast.

If you are a gamer, it will make all the difference.

However, the 8700's are indeed great cards and better drivers will make them shine even more in the future.

(I've ordered one recently that comes with the 8800's by default! I am from Holland. You?)

It depends what games you have seen and how they have been configured.

Some games are more intensive then others, and thus the difference can differ alot or none at all.

Crysis for one, should show a huge difference.

DELL is setting up an upgrade program for it's customers and the cards are aprox. 700 US dollars. Not too bad.
