not bad man!. it seems that your backhand has good spin&speed even without too much swing of the arm (its nice and compact).but i think you should show & explain the wrist and the forearm movement more clearly(maybe a slow-motion in close up will do)because people usually have a very hard time doing it right.
Awesome videos Dan, keep up the good work m8, just one thing to mention re feet positioning (just wider than shoulders width apart and square to the table) and the body needs to be facing where you're playing the ball, like your doing. When I coach up at Woodfield there are so many beginners that dont really line up their body to the direction they're playing and the ball goes all over the place. Keep the vids comin m8, and I hope ur backs feeling better as well, see you soon mate. Bill
this is my problem I cant make many vids atm because of my back :( ill see what i can do... yah body allignment is vital in placement of the ball spesh for beginners..
Btw is this billy pegg? Thanks for the positive comment
@DansTableTennisDaily. No worries Dan, Yes it's Billy Pegg btw, my backhand still needs work so these kinda videos are always helpful. Even if theres one tiny tip I can pick up on or that I havn't been taught, these little bits of knowledge can be crucial to winning and losing, thats the way I see it anyways. Take it easy mate, cya soon
This is the "compact" version of a stroke that a US2300 coach showed me.
Drop shoulder, and draw from holster parts are spot on with what I have been taught, but without the big rainbow followthrough that he teaches beginners.
For mid distance, do you allow your followthrough size to increase? I noticed how much spin you can generate with the bigger stroke - on 0:32 you had to reach for the last (wide) ball, you also wound up with a bigger followthrough and resulting spin power.
Yeah i see what you mean :D, Well i think i did a bigger follow through on the last shot as i was out of position, im not to sure if it does help... but it probably does as it makes your shot more flowing.....
But experiment and see how much spin you are getting... ask your opponent if your getting a lot of spin with different bh techniques you are using, find the best one... thats what i usually do.. :D
@DansTableTennisDaily i am no where near your level, but the best spin that i produce is when i graze rather than make solid contact. IMHO the reason he teaches the big stroke is so that players are force to spin through the ball, rather than hit into and stop contact. the bigger kreanga-esque stroke is a tool rather than an end.
To be honest, correct topspin technic (either back- or forehand) must include appropriate footwork, and you are almost stand still. Anyway, goodjob! Thanks!
i have never seen such a good channel about table tennis, my name is dan as well and i have been playing ping pong for about 6 months now and i am already destroying everyone at my college, love this sport, love this channel, keep up the awesome vids!!!
I like how the explanation was simple, but you should also cover what techniques to use to counter topsin, backspin, and sidespin. But anyway, great video.
Hi Dan awesome video, and that song in the background is really cool.. whats the song and whose playing
