haha like a pair of muppet frogs havin fun with blue xmas lights...i'm sure the pedal could be good...shame andy's got the talk but not the walk,,,no justice to good quality pedals...shitty playin all the time really - he should just commentate :)D
Built like a tank! Best pedal on my pedal board. Put a hurtn' on my wallet, but I didn't get that disappointed feeling when you think the pedal isn't worth the money after you played through it for an hour. I felt like it was Christmas. \m/
Worth every penny. Much more interesting than an envelope filter or auto wah. I have a talk box, but it's difficult for me to use in a live situation. You have to play your licks while you're always being conscious of having your mouth at the right spot on the microphone as you contort the back of your tongue, cheeks, & lips. Maybe I just need more practice at it? I get most of the sounds from the Little Dipper that I desire from my talk box, except for the actual formation of words.
This seems to be a really wierd and wild envelope follower, I dig it myself. I could rangle some wicked Trower riffs out of this. One of those tweaker boxes, fun to play. It is big bucks for me and is getting hard to find. Will be a high dollar jewel in years ot come. Look at that Prescription Electronics Experience pedal, I had that about 12 years ago, it was a cool fuzz, octave reversal Jimi in a box but now it sells for $300 new. I would get this pedal, I think I can get some cool tones,.
@aerodynamics4u You need to man up. I don't care what you think of blues music but comments like that are extremely inappropriate and only show immaturity.
Having played this box, there more sounds. It does clean. Extremely variable. Not really a one trick pony. It is all about how it is played. Lots of subtle harmonic stuff goes on using this pedal. 300 bucks? Box is solid and heavy, and many the parts are quite expensive. Add all the metal and circuits are made in the USA. That does matter. Tired of Chinese plastic? Transfer of debt? Want something unique rather than same old same old? This is one of a kind for the right kind of player.
@SKINKLEG I like the take on that but I'm very tired of pedals with analog knobs - thats great for the studio but all the versatility your talking about is completely lost without at least a multi mode / memory setting system of some sort. Some how pedal manufacturers havent figured that one out.
Not bad when the distortion kicks in, but I'll pass. I wish someone would invent this type of pedal with random well-pronounced vowels (all the vowels). That would be very cool and well worth the price. Couple it with a bell-like ring mod and most guitarists would own one.
Really sounds like a very expensive one-trick-pony. A boring sound after 15 seconds, just one solo duration. It doesn't sound like a vintage wah, a phaser nor an envelope filter as advertised. Just sounds like a vowel sound follower. Forgive me, it's what I heard your demo player do...
Yup. Looks like a one-dimensional gimmick. It's the kind of pedal that can make a mediocre guitarist sound interesting for one or two cycles through the chord progression. Get enough pedals like this and you'll never have to practice!
Yes, i am always looking for talkbox capabilities without the tubve, because it chokes me while playing and this one is an autowah too...twa your awesome
I simply cannot understand how anyone can say they're not impressed by this pedal. A high quality, American made, unique pedal - I bought this 2 weeks ago and can't put it down. It offers so many possibilities in the right hands....
The Electro Harmonix Bassballs (which also works for guitar) is also a formant filter, but for about $80. There are trim pots inside of the Bassballs that one should mess around with to get a better tone. The EXH loses some low end, though.
Do the Russian EHX Bassballs have the trim pots also? I have one but the only time I opened it up was so I can pop the LED back into place when it fell out of its hole.
its a gizmo and sure is not worth paying that much for it , a wah and a phaser can get you all what this pedal is doing now , if you know how to use them .
right, It is a hand made American pedal. It was never going to be cheap. Some one like you always comments saying how pointless and expensive it is. Congratulations your this videos one :)
While auto wahs and envelope filters are nothing new, I surely hope this pedal gives them the attention that they deserve. Looks beautiful and unique, seems to have a smart design that gives that extra bit vs. its competitors, and sounds wonderful...
Oh, and the production values of PGS videos have finally gone... intergalactic. I mean, wow! I don't think it can get any better than this. And Andy's talent is going to waste - he should join a band and be famous...
Slightly irrelevant, but I've had this question for quite some time now. Are those Core X2 cables that you've been using in all the demo videos? Why exactly do you use those over other cables?
Why does it seem half the tone is GONE??? dont get me wrong it's cool and weird modulation wise.. but push some tone through it... show me it CAN! then, I'll get one.. pretty good pedal tho
He did show you it can. That's what the trim pot does, re-introduces the dry signal into the mix. But a filter pedal sucks out most of the tone by sweeping through boosted regions of the EQ and cutting the rest; that's just the nature of the effect. The more tone you bring back with the trim pot, the less extreme it sounds.
A €30 Beheringer VB1 Vintage Bass sounds practically the same - I didnt appreciate it till I heard this - they sound very similar. The switch on the Vb1 is horrible though I can hear it grind against metal & it feels spongy & dosnt have that nice positive "Click" when you stomp it. but it's a good stop gap if you dont want to spend this much
I feel like we are in a new golden age of effects pedals. All of these smaller companies have come out of nowhere with these awesome pedals. The 60's and 70's had some awesome effect pedals. The 80's and 90's had a few jems but for the most part there was a lot of crap. Now these pedals sound unbelievable and I think it's a direct result of the internet which breeds competition.
is it possible to make the effect gradually less pronounced / change the harshness of the phase distortion heard in this video?

And how much would you expect it to cost? It's a custom chassis with LED array, true bypass, a unique complicated circuit and it's made in the USA.
What's your garden variety boutique Tube Screamer or Superfuzz copy in an off the shelf Hammond Chassis cost? $175? $225?
Of course this is going to cost more than a mass produced Taiwanese Boss pedal...
