  • is it possible to make the effect gradually less pronounced / change the harshness of the phase distortion heard in this video?

  • Cissy Strut!!!

  • @b3john ok thank u i missed that solo i was like wait i only heard rocky mountain way only cayse ive never watched this video all the way lol

  • nightclubbing

  • I'm Shattered!

  • Does this work well on bass? Anyone know?

  • @barreteminhizer it does

  • Great pedal! What`s the price? Can`t find it on your website.

  • CISSY STRUT andy your vast amount of musical knowledge never ceases to amaze me!

  • lol that talk box solo was actually rocky mountain way not peter framptons

  • @emanhacker

    3:21 is "Rocky Mountain Way"

5:07 is "Do You Feel Like We Do"

  • hot

  • So, this is based on the Coloursound Dipthonizer? Sounds like it could be...

Great sounds, great looks; LOVE the knobs.

  • Andy rules!

  • i want this pedal just so when i look down at my pedal board i see a little dipper

  • the best looking pedal ever made, fact.

  • nice...the meters. now somebody's gotta try this on bass

  • haha like a pair of muppet frogs havin fun with blue xmas lights...i'm sure the pedal could be good...shame andy's got the talk but not the walk,,,no justice to good quality pedals...shitty playin all the time really - he should just commentate :)D

  • @100slackerman1 Haha, yeah OKAY man..

  • @100slackerman1 If you think Andy is a shitty guitar player.... you must have terrible taste or terrible ears.... which is it?

  • @Guitarisforgrins Both...I'm sorry what were you saying I could barely hear you.

  • Peter Frampton's cover for talk box demo \O/

    :D

  • that is the coolest design for a pedal ever!

  • @jetboy2012 agreed.

  • Built like a tank! Best pedal on my pedal board. Put a hurtn' on my wallet, but I didn't get that disappointed feeling when you think the pedal isn't worth the money after you played through it for an hour. I felt like it was Christmas. \m/

  • Worth every penny. Much more interesting than an envelope filter or auto wah. I have a talk box, but it's difficult for me to use in a live situation. You have to play your licks while you're always being conscious of having your mouth at the right spot on the microphone as you contort the back of your tongue, cheeks, & lips. Maybe I just need more practice at it? I get most of the sounds from the Little Dipper that I desire from my talk box, except for the actual formation of words.

  • This seems to be a really wierd and wild envelope follower, I dig it myself. I could rangle some wicked Trower riffs out of this. One of those tweaker boxes, fun to play. It is big bucks for me and is getting hard to find. Will be a high dollar jewel in years ot come. Look at that Prescription Electronics Experience pedal, I had that about 12 years ago, it was a cool fuzz, octave reversal Jimi in a box but now it sells for $300 new. I would get this pedal, I think I can get some cool tones,.

  • 2:26

Meter's Cissy Strut, one of the funkiest songs going round. :)

  • あなたはわるいです。。。

  • good informative demo...keep up the good work

  • This pedal is very close in concept and sound to the EHX Bassballs.

  • I dig that tune at around 3min. its the title song in Jackie Brown...cool pedal!

  • That's the Hokuto Shichisei on the pedal!

    This video is already dead.

  • blues music reminds me of fat inbred retards

  • @aerodynamics4u Wow, how do you like your job? Does trolling pay well nowadays?

  • @aerodynamics4u You need to man up. I don't care what you think of blues music but comments like that are extremely inappropriate and only show immaturity.

  • How many other demos would feature Cissy Strut by the Meters?? Not many, I

would wager.... Too cool!! EXCellent demo, great pedal, BTW....

  • Apparently this is now out of production?

  • @gwugluud according to the website:

"NOW IN STOCK. LAST FEW LEFT FROM THIS LIMITED PRODUCTION RUN.

    PLACE YOUR ORDER TODAY!"

...guess that means I probably wont get one :(

  • I would definately but this if I had the money.

  • cissy strut! YEAH!

  • cool leds

  • $300 doesn't seem that bad compared to how much an original Dipthonizer would cost if you managed to find one

  • its just a autowah,, it goes quack, thats it, but it sounds so good and gives you alot of tonailty to that quack, i like it

  • hold on a tic...he's playing sissy strut...nice, kudos!

  • it's easy as a wah"

  • If only he played Hum's "Little Dipper" just for the sake of the pun!

  • You can see his reflection in the knobs

  • yup id say thats about a 300 dollar paint job!

  • Pedal sounds sweet, but 300 bucks sweet? I'll have to pass, 300 bucks can buy a lot of musical stuff.

  • totally wicked audio bro!

  • i dont like envelope filters, but this pedal looks amazing!

  • WHY did xotic take the arrpegiator off the robotalk.... thats all I wanted

  • also good for BASS guitar?

  • The only mod I would to to this is change the name to NWA.

  • hahahaha....he said dip thong

cool pedal wish I could afford it...I'm sure Brand New will buy one lol

  • I think your playing and your reviews keep getting...better and better...

when will you be on the tonight show?

  • i wouldnt spend 300 dollars for it.

(not to say its not worth that much money, it is)

  • Having played this box, there more sounds. It does clean. Extremely variable. Not really a one trick pony. It is all about how it is played. Lots of subtle harmonic stuff goes on using this pedal. 300 bucks? Box is solid and heavy, and many the parts are quite expensive. Add all the metal and circuits are made in the USA. That does matter. Tired of Chinese plastic? Transfer of debt? Want something unique rather than same old same old? This is one of a kind for the right kind of player.

  • @SKINKLEG I like the take on that but I'm very tired of pedals with analog knobs - thats great for the studio but all the versatility your talking about is completely lost without at least a multi mode / memory setting system of some sort. Some how pedal manufacturers havent figured that one out.

  • ..the talkbox sounds good.. but with an expression pedal to controlit ..would be better..

  • Not bad when the distortion kicks in, but I'll pass. I wish someone would invent this type of pedal with random well-pronounced vowels (all the vowels). That would be very cool and well worth the price. Couple it with a bell-like ring mod and most guitarists would own one.

  • @McLenison EHX

  • Cool pedal. But $300? Pass!

  • Really sounds like a very expensive one-trick-pony. A boring sound after 15 seconds, just one solo duration. It doesn't sound like a vintage wah, a phaser nor an envelope filter as advertised. Just sounds like a vowel sound follower. Forgive me, it's what I heard your demo player do...

  • Yup. Looks like a one-dimensional gimmick. It's the kind of pedal that can make a mediocre guitarist sound interesting for one or two cycles through the chord progression. Get enough pedals like this and you'll never have to practice!

  • shitty players will sound like shitty players, pedals or not. its a fact of life.

sort of like how internet trolls are usually shitty people, both on the internet and in real life. you might want to mull that one over.

  • @skyoon true man, check out my videos

  • great shattered man amazing

  • Yes, i am always looking for talkbox capabilities without the tubve, because it chokes me while playing and this one is an autowah too...twa your awesome

  • I simply cannot understand how anyone can say they're not impressed by this pedal. A high quality, American made, unique pedal - I bought this 2 weeks ago and can't put it down. It offers so many possibilities in the right hands....

  • does it make a difference that it's american?

  • @sennasmp4 AND it lights up. What's not to like?

  • The Electro Harmonix Bassballs (which also works for guitar) is also a formant filter, but for about $80. There are trim pots inside of the Bassballs that one should mess around with to get a better tone. The EXH loses some low end, though.

  • Do the Russian EHX Bassballs have the trim pots also? I have one but the only time I opened it up was so I can pop the LED back into place when it fell out of its hole.

  • yes.

  • not impressed

  • The problem with these filter pedals is they sound shity with the wrong hands (ex: mines),

  • NIGHTCLUBBING!!!

Never thought I would hear that in a demo...

  • a modern twist on an older pedal, great demo!

  • sounds like a funky Phase and wah pedal put together, pretty sick

  • CIssy Strut!

  • Awesome tone. Love the look too

  • lke the scofield at 2:27

  • you mean the meters....

  • I'm pretty sure 'Cissy Strut' was The Meters.

  • Shattered! My brains are battered!

  • Unique as hell!

  • HAHA those lights are awesome sweet pedal

  • its a gizmo and sure is not worth paying that much for it , a wah and a phaser can get you all what this pedal is doing now , if you know how to use them .

  • right, It is a hand made American pedal. It was never going to be cheap. Some one like you always comments saying how pointless and expensive it is. Congratulations your this videos one :)

  • those lights are kinda mesmerizing

  • Im not a big fan of these auto wah funk filter pedals but this one sounds great.

  • Cissy strut!!!!

  • interesting unique pedal.

  • now THAT is a beautiful pedal! Wow!

  • do you feel like i do?

    great pedal...and very nice chops.

  • SHATTERED!!!

  • How much $?

  • around 300$

  • I love those LED

  • sounds dirtyyyyy

  • Hallelujah! you started putting product links in the sidebar. Makes life so much easier.

  • Of all the cool things you've played, "Cissy Strut" may be the coolest. Tops, Andy!

  • While auto wahs and envelope filters are nothing new, I surely hope this pedal gives them the attention that they deserve. Looks beautiful and unique, seems to have a smart design that gives that extra bit vs. its competitors, and sounds wonderful...

Oh, and the production values of PGS videos have finally gone... intergalactic. I mean, wow! I don't think it can get any better than this. And Andy's talent is going to waste - he should join a band and be famous...

  • Heck yeah. I believe andy is indeed in a skilled cover band. More power to him.

  • You can see Andy playing in the reflection on the knobs

  • holy shit so much i could do with that little thing....

  • Jambi solo right here.

  • No. That's talkbox.

  • plain & simple - fucking awesome.

  • Mode 2 is awesome.

Then I can finally play Rocket Queen!

  • y didn't u play peter frampton or living on a prayer do another review

  • he did very briefly at 5:36

  • he did play frampton dude-do you feel like we do?

  • Dang that pedal is nice!!

  • The Sound Is Friggin Awesome.

  • Love the Little Dipper concept, with the LEDs.

  • that pedal kicks ass

  • it's a colorsound dipthonizer!

  • Liking the LED graphic. Ursa minor. V. clever.

  • thats very nice.. but i wont spend that much for a filter/auto-q/..

  • Hell yeah, that's a nice pedal! except the price :-)

  • Love it! So unordinary!

  • Slightly irrelevant, but I've had this question for quite some time now. Are those Core X2 cables that you've been using in all the demo videos? Why exactly do you use those over other cables?

  • what a crazy pedal

  • This is Sick! : )

  • CISSY STRUT!!

  • that's a pretty spot on rocky mountain way

  • knobs are so shiny, you can see andy's guitar!

  • sweet LEDs!

  • Why does it seem half the tone is GONE??? dont get me wrong it's cool and weird modulation wise.. but push some tone through it... show me it CAN! then, I'll get one.. pretty good pedal tho

  • He did show you it can. That's what the trim pot does, re-introduces the dry signal into the mix. But a filter pedal sucks out most of the tone by sweeping through boosted regions of the EQ and cutting the rest; that's just the nature of the effect. The more tone you bring back with the trim pot, the less extreme it sounds.

  • I just saw Frampton at the Iowa state fair, he was good but his talk box is a LOT more

talk-boxier than this effect; which is frickin' sweet in its own rite.

  • A €30 Beheringer VB1 Vintage Bass sounds practically the same - I didnt appreciate it till I heard this - they sound very similar. The switch on the Vb1 is horrible though I can hear it grind against metal & it feels spongy & dosnt have that nice positive "Click" when you stomp it. but it's a good stop gap if you dont want to spend this much

  • I feel like we are in a new golden age of effects pedals. All of these smaller companies have come out of nowhere with these awesome pedals. The 60's and 70's had some awesome effect pedals. The 80's and 90's had a few jems but for the most part there was a lot of crap. Now these pedals sound unbelievable and I think it's a direct result of the internet which breeds competition.

  • 5:16 with the LP, Frampton Comes Alive.

  • that part sounds so awesome

  • Why does every cool pedal have to be so much money?!

  • Because good tone is priceless, I see it as a hit I'd happily take for something as awesome as this.

Then again, I got no money, and I <3 financing at my local guitar place.

  • Ohh don't worry, there are distortion pedals out there that cost hundreds of dollars and sound like crap.

  • I see andy in the knobs (:

  • As long as you don't see Andy's knob, that's ok.

  • this thing is so cool. can you plug in an expression pedal?

  • yeah 300 is too much

  • And how much would you expect it to cost? It's a custom chassis with LED array, true bypass, a unique complicated circuit and it's made in the USA.

What's your garden variety boutique Tube Screamer or Superfuzz copy in an off the shelf Hammond Chassis cost? $175? $225?

Of course this is going to cost more than a mass produced Taiwanese Boss pedal...

  • sounds great, but I wouldn't pay $300 for the thing.

  • wow sounds great. and looks awesome!

  • holly funkasouarus!! I'd buy that thing just because of the LED dipper lights!! heh heh never mind it sounds super COOL!

  • Wow...

I was actually impressed by this little guy. Original concept (find me another formant auto-wah...) and a very cool design. Sounds stunning as well.
