Wauw! the last comment was like 5 months ago! >< I live in holland so too bad for me we don't have the porky chips :( (prob better for my health)
But i sooo miss potater chips :))
I'm on the SCD diet now for a month and a half and doing pretty good, i think i'm pretty symptom free, with the petite ups and downs but i still ahve to figure out a bit what i can and can't eat of course.. I do notice that in the beginning i was a very eager cook, but after spending hours in the kitchen,
fernpixel have you tried the cinnamon pancakes from EAT WELL FEEL WELL. very filling takes 20 to 30 with clean-up. Makes enough for 3 mornings and u could freeze them for future useage.E-MAIL me if anyone doesnt have the book and I'll give you the direction.
Yo there is some great sites on the net, with folks that are willing to help you with diet and what to start out with. Your new bible is BREAKING THE VICIOUS CYCLE, read know it and maybe when your ready and of course using the diet pass the word around. Sadly doctors that i have experienced are more mechincal about UC, which is the way they are trained. Not there fault. yogurt ROCKS. Meditation will help with the stress of always having the need to find the bowl. I ORDERED TAO OF BREATHING BOOK
I usually get "Motts natural" applesauce. But I also get the grocery-brand natural applesauce depending what's on sale. Just check the labels and make sure there's no sugar or corn syrup in it. Usually the ingredients will say: apples and water.
I did... partly because I wasn't being strict. And I rushed the diet a little since it was hard for me to follow in the beginning. It wasn't as bad because I didn't go back to the doctor. I handled it own my own. It took about a week or more till the flare went away. Do you have the breaking the vicious cycle book? My edition might be different from yours: Read chapt. 9 pg 69-70. You might have to cut out the bananas/fruits for now and just eat the soup for a while. eat smaller meals.
Yes, exactly! I've seriously advanced the diet on two occasions and had some really bad times afterwards. And, of course, I was completely blaming myself for making such careless choices and became kind of depressed; I think you can understand. But I do have the book and thank you so much for the advice. I'm also eating the yogurt sporadically throughout the day as it seriously calms my stomach. I dig the yogurt.
fernpixel, did you ever get a flare-up while you were on the scd in the beginning? If you did, was it bad? And did it leave on its own? I'm dealing with one right now and I can't find a lot of info about it. Thank you.
I notice a huge difference. I still get some symptoms, but I haven't gotten a flare in almost 2 years. The hardest part about the diet is starting, but once you get the hang of it, its pretty easy.
Your room's clean!!! (0_0)! Or did you just move all the junk outa camera shot ;). I can eat what I like as I've said 100 times before. But still, some good ideas! I like pork scratchings (that's what they're called in the UK), but only now and again 'cause those things are fattening!
I'm a bit "afraid" of diets as my uc gets to control every second of my life then. Could make you feel sicker & depressed as you are constatly reminded of the uc. Well that's just my opinion.
But I did decide to try omega 3 as it was only a few more pills and wouldn't restrain me in my daily life. I have been taking 3 x the recommended dosage for a while now and I'm the closest I've been to being normal in 4,5 years. Hope it will "cure" me totally soon.
That's cool that you found something that works for you. I get plenty of fish in my diet, so I think I might be covered with the omega 3 thing. but I agree about being constantly reminded. Colitis is always in the back of my mind, but I don't want to let it ruin my life :)

Totally great video, I can't wait until I can fully tolerate more fruits and all. Thanks much

This is great that you are making videos about your diet. Do you notice that with your diet you get less flares, and symptoms?
I need to change my diet but its so hard, its so much easier to find junk food than healthy foos especially on college campuses.

I love raisins and applesauce. :)
Thanks for the popsicle tutorial. I'll have to try that sometime!
britamonster 3 years ago
Cool! :) Just be careful about eating too many raisins. They're a fiber just like prunes and might give trouble if you eat too many at once ;)
