The announcer said that without the defense industry unemployment would skyrocket from 9% to 11%. However, unemployment is actually much higher than that now. Currently only the people looking for jobs are counted those are the people who are on unemployment. After someone's unemployment runs out they get put into the "not looking for work anymore" category which decreases the percentage of people who want jobs. Do those people still not desire jobs?
