  • what is the difference between the Canon Vixia HF S20 and Canon LAGRIA HF S20

  • what's the price in singapore?

  • No offence but the colour taken by this camera is a bit dull and not as good as the Canon Legria HFS10

  • Can you test taking video under low lighting see how it goes i wanna know...

  • ew

  • Are you lot living in Trinidad?

  • Great Video

  • hey is the sound good?? btw im the 100th person to like tis :D

  • yeah um what is the price?

  • @teenageguruz Price is mentioned at 9:25

  • What is the price of this camera

    the VIXIA and LEGRIA?

  • Vixia or Legia?

  • @Jbeetroots They're both identical. Legria is for PAL, Vixia is for NTSC.

  • Good video, but there's a new one.. HFS20.. Not that it's time to upgrade or anything.

  • Im gonna buy the Legria HF200 in a few months :D

  • good review i will buy this now thank you for the good vid!

  • what are the best option, for the best quality video ,for editing..???? canon legria hf 20..!!! thanks

  • Thank you very much for this review!

Which camera would you overall recommend the most.. The Canon HF20, or the Sanyo Xacti HD 1000?

    thank you!

  • @OhMyMariel I'd personally recommend the Xacti HD1000 if you want to do things with the clips you film quickly. The quality may not be as good as the Canon, but it's quite close, yet it's cheaper and a lot smaller. That's why we use it for Gear65.

  • @jedimdan Alright, thanks so much!! (:

  • Very nice_^ !!

  • where did you buy the HF20? I've been looking for it.

  • sorry for lame question, but what's the difference between legria hf20 and vixia hf20?

  • the quality looks amazing. however i do notice some sort of choppy lines throughout the video, specifically during fast motions. is this normal or is this a con about the camera.

what do you think about the hv 30or40??

    anyone?

  • you guyz working for canon . hahhaha .

    sony HDR-CX500V and HDR-CX550V . 100 TIMES BETTER THAN THIS .

I AM WORKING FOR SONY HEHEH

  • @BandiDel

    just shut up

  • can anybody pls tell me how i can take a pictuere with this camera whiles am recording a movie at the same time i knw is possible but i just dnt knw how to do it pls thanks

  • very informativ! thx guys!

  • so is the hf s10 just a better version of the hf20? sorry for the dumb question hah

  • Great review guys. I think I may buy this. Thanks

  • i just got the US version of this camcorder, the Vixia HF20.

Its an amazing piece of machinery, worth every penny I spent on it and the various accessories.

My only complaint is that I do not have a computer powerful enough to do quality editing of HD footage, so I have to settle for SP when I want to do edit-excessive projects.

Great review guys; makes me feel better about my buying decision.

  • wow! this is one of the best vids ive seen covering the canon legria/vixia hf200. great job! im looking into this one alot and am actually saving up for it. im hoping to get it online for $550, its $600 in stores. thanks again for the upload!

  • What is Youtube ?

  • great vid guys...well done

  • Excellent video review. Thank you.

I have been researching this and similar models and will definetly pick it up now.

  • Canon is real good in digital cameras & Sony Excellent in camcorders!

  • hf20 is not good in the night.

  • i dont like the sway motion when you move the camer quick

  • does this have a stereo mic or mono?

  • It's a stereo mic.

  • thanx jedimdan.

  • What camera is this video being filmed with?

  • We used the HF20 itself to show the footage quality, as well as our own Sanyo Xacti HD1000 to film the rest of the show.

  • How is the quality of the buildt in mic? I saw another video on youtube where a guy said that there was a lot of dust/backgroundnoise on the recordings?

  • You can hear for it yourself in the video where we used the camera. It's quite alright actually, but like all mics it does get noisy when there's wind.

We're not audiophiles, so we can't really comment exactly how good the audio is, but if you're not an audiophile then it shouldn't matter to you too.

  • @Niiilsen

You can attach a shotgun mic

  • Uh.. The plane old hf20 is best for the money!

  • haha, I just found out a Singapore Singlish Video review or I would say Channel. No offenes because i am in Singapore.

  • Great review, good facts and tips, excelent video test, respect for that.

Now I collecting money for HF S10, probably fantastic camera, but in my part of the worl is quite expensive.

But I have question, because on your video is very nice titles :-) Wich program you use for this titles (like the shade on it), and what is the best selection of programs for editing materials from that canon ?

  • We actually used iMovie 09 on a Mac to do all the editting of our shows as they allow us to do advance techniques very quickly. Adobe Premiere Elements is an affordable program for Windows to edit HD videos.

  • Should I get the HF S10 or the HF20, they seem quite comparable... the only difference is $400 which is for that bigger CMOS sensor...

  • I was thinking the same exact thing crawfordsjamie? what does that bigger cmos sensor do ?

  • @kingleo42042h well man I just bought the HF S10 for christmas, so once I get it going, I'll upload some footage maybe the weekend... then compare it with the HF20... i think there is quite the difference in a bigger CMOS sensor.... get the HF S10

  • im thinking about buying this camera today. the problem is i don't know the highest frame rate. can you please tell me. thanks.

  • 24 Mbps... but the question is, HF200 or HF20, do you want internal memory or a memory stick that you can remove and plug into your computer for faster transfering of videos?

  • The price per gb is pretty expensive in the HF20. I'm gonna go for the HF200.

  • excellent video review! i like how you used two cameras to record the footage to highlight your review. great job!

  • how long is the camera recording with full battery?

you said light plays an important role..so if i want to record concerts, this camera is not what i am looking for?

  • Sorry, but the review was too long ago for me to recall the battery life precisely. It's about the same as most camcorders though.

Light plays an important role in any camera/camcorder, not just in this camera. That's what I meant. Not many camcorders or cameras can do low light scenarios.

If you want to do a rock concert, you'll have no problem, because the stage is usually very lit up so the camera can capture it. Most concerts are actually quite bright, unless it's in a badly lit bar etc.

  • what is a "min"i hdmi?

  • It's a smaller HDMI port/plug for portable devices. Officially it's called the HDMI Type C connector. It requires a converter to connect with TVs. Check it out on Wikipedia in the "HDMI" entry, under section 2.1.

  • i bought one how do i set it to the highest quality settings?

  • Wow, this was the best camcorder review I've seen yet!! I'm looking for one. I was thinking of this one but I'm not sure anymore because it only does 1920 by 1080. :( I'm not sure if that's a big problem but I won't know.

    Better safe than sorry!

    Thanks so much for this!

  • They said that it only supports 1080i, but youtube only support 720i? how do you change it or do youtube allow 1080i?

  • @Minidrummer101 pretty soon youtube will support 1080 p

  • Can this camera film like really small animals, such as ants(for example) with perfect quality?

  • Haha, that's a very specific scenario. This camera does have macro, and you can do close ups very well, so you can certainly film ants. However, don't expect to be able to do things like those documentaries you see where the ants become huge on the screen. You need a very special camera for that.

  • Okey :) What "very special camera" do i need to see huge ants on the screen?

  • OMG ant watcher

  • i mean ant filmer

  • More like an insect filmer.. lol

  • @krirre yea HAH

  • Very good review, very clear, very thorough, thank you very much :)

  • you guys sound like bruce lee haha Good fucking cam

  • OH MAN!!

i was looking at the whole video asking when ishe going to say the price???

    and then BAM 1999$

    GOD DAMN IT

ill just dream about in my sleep :(

  • dude you can get it for 530 on a website just search it!

  • dude i saw one on ebay and amazon like last week for $450-600

  • Yep, they're right, since Canon has launched a few cameras since. Also, don't forget that 1999 is in Singapore dollars, not US dollars

  • Can you shoot in fullscreen?

  • What do you mean by shoot in fullscreen?

  • I mean, instead of 16:9 widescreen, is there an option to shoot in 4:3 fullscreen.

  • really nice macro!

    thanx for the review)))

  • Thanks for the video guys, very detailed.

  • Very very very good review

  • jeese ive had this camera for 3 months now and just barely learned how to manual focus it....thanks! lol

  • Comment removed

  • hey is there a way around the white sky, it look way too white in mine, do u think a polarizer will do the job ( i already have a UV filter)

  • I have this cam, trying to find out how to get the clear crisp video like you guys

  • I'm no expert, but I think lighting plays quite a big role. If you go outdoors under sunlight, like we did in the first clip, do you still not get the clear video?

  • Lately I'm been shooting in TV 1/100 and its been coming out clear, and then i put it sony vegas and do some color correction, and a light sharpen on it.

  • sweet

  • Best review I've seen on this camera. I'm sold!

  • Very good review guys !

  • This was one of the most helpful reviews I have seen on youtube about this camera. Thanks alot!

  • Hello is it possible to get raw .m2ts files? please

  • I installed the discs and to get my footage to my pc it looks like I have to convert it to mpeg. Does it affect the quality at all?

  • Does this happen as you are importing the footage into your PC, or you just happen to need to convert it to mpeg?

If the application that came with the camera is the one that is requiring to convert to mpeg, then it shouldn't affect the quality.

  • Only when converting, but I figured it out.

I have last question...if you don't mind me asking. When I zoom in on something why does it tend to lose focus on what I am zooming in on? I have it on auto focus and I zoom is slowly...anyway to not lose focus?

  • It's possible that the object you're filming might be difficult to focus on, or that there isn't enough light. That happens a lot to me when I'm filming something that's very reflective or when I'm in a low-light place.

  • I just got this camcorder and I have a question. Do you have put all of those discs in the pc upload the footage from the HF20 to the pc?

  • If you already have a video editor on your PC that supports AVCHD, then you don't have to.

  • What software and fonts do you use to edit your video?

  • We used nothing but iMovie 09. The font is the default font, can't remember which one it is. Didn't see a need to use a fancy font or a different one.

  • Thanks, i have an old pc dated back in 2004 so i'm not aware of the new stuff that are out now.

  • What about Canon HF11? I try to choose from HF20 and HF11

  • I never tried the HF11, so I don't know which is better.

  • Thanks! But you like HF20? ) Great videoreview!

  • Yea, I love it! It's a great HD camcorder for consumers who want more features, but don't want to have to learn all the manual controls

  • Thanks for the wonderful review! You guys ROCK!

  • so the HFS10 is the new and improved camera?

  • It's not exactly new, because it was launched (at least in Singapore) at the same time as the HF20. It's a higher end model, with changes such as a manual focus dial at the front of the camera.

  • hey is this the same thing as the Canon VIXIA HF20, I live in NYC so I am assuming different regions have different names for their cameras?

  • Yes it is, as mentioned at the end of the video :)

  • that was the best review of this camera on youtube, was it not?

    very informative

    thankyou

  • did you use any mic for this video or is it from the camera?

  • The first scene at the Merlion park was using audio from the HF20's mic, while the rest of the video was using the audio coming from our own camera's mic. It's a Sanyo Xacti HD1000.

  • sounds great!, awsome camera, i'm thinking of buying one

  • excellent review!

  • Can you upload videos to Vimeo so we can download them and view the original video quality from the camcorder?

  • I can't, cos they're quite huge, and Vimeo will down convert them to 720p as well. No online service supports 1080i. The video you're looking at, if you click the HD icon at the bottom left, is in 720p.

  • nice review

  • What settings are these? Wow!

  • They're actually mostly auto settings! I know, right? This camera's quite impressive
