Fantastic tune! Great track and thank you for posting it - anyone know how it went from Soulhawk to Westbound label, and didn't get properly promoted in 1970 by either label? Love these classics and their history as well - DAVEDJ

Can we please stop talking about Mayer Hawthorne's untalented a** here? Go to his videos if you want to talk about him. This is about the New Holidays and one of the greatest soul tunes ever.
THIS is what YouTube is really all about, my friends...
Discovering the true roots and the original artists of songs we may have thought were "modern". Ha !
I am thrilled this song has been revived and "introduced for the first time".... :)
R.I.P. to Jack Holland and condolences to all his family. A great song and many thanks to Mayer Hawthorne for keeping it alive for generations to come.
so who cares if Mayer Hawthorne Covered this song... he straight up said he was always into this music.. I mean the dude grew up in motown... not to mention he collects vinyl...
Oh man, I also thought this was a Mayer Hawthorne original. I couldn't find any credit to TNH on his myspace, or in his live morning becomes eclectic set. Hmm.
Could it be that your love was meant for me maybe so, maybe no ( x2) what this time go bound so fast now when i'm here with you don't know why minutes seem like hours when i'm away from you i'm not sure if it's really real now is it a dream or maybe a game all i know since i lost you girl my life hasn't been the same now everyday we grow closer together
Let's set the record straight on Mayer Hawthorne... Maybe So, Maybe No is (obviously) a cover.
Everything else leaked so far has been ORIGINAL songs written and produced by MH. And when you all hear the album "A Strange Arragement"... you will truly understand the genius.
theres a track on his myspace and on you tube which i presume will be on the LP called, love is alright, its originally a cliff nobles track, its the flip of the horse, mayers version seems to be a take on the jesse james version of the song(if that makes sense)type in jesse james love is alright to hear his take

what the fuck thats 2 mayer hawthorne songs that are fucking remakles i thought we had some genuine talent and i find out its just a guy doing remakes
Gotta give the dude props in the fact that while this is a group singing, he is but one man doing this song perfect justice. He may need time to get the songwriting down, but no denying his voice talent.
The man in the middle is Maurice Wise, lead vocals on this track. I have a variety of all of these records. in (brand new) mint condition. I even have 10 masters that were never released. My family and I are currently in the studio remastering. There are so many untrue speculations about this group and it's history. Text me I can give you the solid rock-hard info that you need.
Are you all planning to license them with a re-issue label? I hope so because i'd love to hear those unreleased masters. It would also be great to put all of their songs on an anthology CD set!! If you all did that you PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED ON THAT! Please leave a message for me in my inbox with that info the FIRST chance you get,i'd love to know the group's history!
The Man on the far right is my Father Jack Holland. He wrote many of the songs you heard back then. including this one. Next to him is Jimmy Holland, (my uncle), He is the person who started this whole thing. The Holidays name and infringements have gone to unbelievably sickening levels. Producers would just create a band, put them on the road and call them the Holidays just to take away some of the fame my Father and Uncle built.
I've been contacted by relatives of so many soul music legends and it's great to know that you all are out here listening and watching. I truly appreciate it! The Holidays made some of the best music to come out of Detroit in my opinion. I also love the songs they recorded for Revilot and Golden World Records also. Your father and uncle are legends! Are they still around? If so,tell them I love their music-but yeah,as I wrote in the video info, several groups claimed the name 'Holidays'.
Yes, The members are still around except my Dad Jack Holland who was never sick but passed away suddenly on the morning of his 40th birthday from an anurism. (1985) The funeral was visited by many people; from Diana Ross, Rick James and many more who's life he touch in the music industry. I think we counted 141 Limousines in the procession.
Sorry to hear about your Dad. I know it made you and your family feel good to see all of those people showing love and paying respects like that, that was cool.
As a kid, I had a copy of the Holiday's 45, "I'll Love You Forever". I loved it so much that I wore it out! I haven't been able to find another good copy of that song since. :(
Matter of fact,I just might post it up soon so be on the lookout for it. If you didn't know it was on Golden World, you'd swear it was issued on Motown, that's just how good the production was on it!
Yes, I know it's on GoldenWorld. The Funk Brothers did a lot of sneaking over there to cut tracks for other artists. LOL! Berry Gordy stopped that mess though, by not only buying the GW label, but letting it die once he did. LOL!!
Berry Gordy became a hated man in Detroit because of that move too! He bought GW/Ric Tic,dismantled them and then dropped all of their artists. then to add insult to injury,he re-released some of the music under Motown (like a Fantastic Four album in '69). I don't know if the artists ever got any royalties from the recordings once Motown acquired them. maybe it was best that Gordy moved west because he'd probably try to kill Westbound,Soulhawk and Hot Wax/Invictus the same way.
i just recently discovered the holidays. i bought a foot locker of 45's a couple of weeks ago and found 5 holidays 45's in them and i love all of them, but this one is my favorite. thanx for checking it out J.C. !
