  • Ah... This brings back so many memories from my childhood.... ;)

Good times, brings a tear to my eye.

  • This is the memory of the classic Rareware calling out to all of us to remind us what once was, but no longer is.

  • Im willing to give away the great graphics in video games, use STICK FIGURES IDGAF if in exchange the games have amazing VGM's that give an awsome atmosphere like this one does.

  • i feel privelaged to know that i can still play this game. i have a snes!

  • @TheCookie8866 Wow, you're so lucky! I have to use the virtual console... or emulators for games like EarthBound

  • @TheCookie8866 same :) i have NES, 64, genises, playstation, ps2, xbox, original gameboy, and gameboy color. im a old school gamer nut, i have yet to get my hands on a functioning atari system though.

  • @TheCookie8866 yeah same, i have so many old consoles still in storage, just a shame I no longer have a crt and instead got to suffer with an lcd tv :/

  • The kind of game you still like to play after years.

  • Finally somebody who spells the title correctly I mean have you ever heard about a "stickerbrush"? I wonder who came up with the idea of spelling it like that

  • Some people can't handle change. These people are best dealt with like zombies : A shotgun blast to the chest, with bullets of modern.

  • Glad you spelled the title correctly~

  • @Mmmathers4 Of course :)

  • This song helps my head and hurts it too. .__.

  • que bueno......(#)

  • @GeneralCane okami is fairly new, and also has a stellar soundtrack. mario galaxy, as well.

i think the nostaligia is a huge thing with why everyone praises the oldies and not the new ones...

back then, its all we ever focused on and really retained. now, newer things in this day and age are more difficult to remember.

think of all the kids now who will grow up and appreciate the soundtracks we bash? how can we take that away from people! respect video game music from ALL generations!!!

  • One of Nintendo's most beautiful pieces... I wonder why didn't they arranged it with orchestra?... It'd be just perfect!

  • i dotn play new games too often, just call of duty really, thats mainly because i just got a 360 like a month ago but have had my NES SNES and 64 since forever idk i love the 8 bit and 16 bit sound better, thats my opinion.

  • Oh, PLEASE let there be at least a version of this song in Donkey Kong Country Returns...

  • im a nostagilc gamer and i love the old times maybe more than the new ones but that doesnt mean that i dont like the new songs.

  • On the subject of "New games don't have good music" nostalgia, I present Okami. A recent game with an amazing soundtrack.

I don't care if it's new or old. Amazing music is amazing music!

  • isn't it ironic that probably the best music ever in a video game is in some of the most frustrating levels ever?..That was, when I was kid. I remember I died A LOT in those levels. But atleast you can hear this beautiful music....

  • @sporister Quite, then the I think 2 in the lost world was annoying as I don't know what. lol

  • Man... the quality is perfect. thank you uploader.

  • memories.. *sniffle*

  • I like it, but I think it´s very overrated. In my opinion, the music in Kannon Klaim is better.

  • @BrainDS

Indeed. The mines do have the best song in the game.

  • Classic ain't dead !

  • "The quality is perfect."

    You got that right.

  • i notice even MGS has taken this approach listen to MGS 1... then jump to MGS 3 and you'll notice theres no BGM through most of the game in MGS3 but in MGS 1 there was music throughout most of the game. Music makes a level feel alive... maybe im going on but u know thats what these ppl are bitching abt and yeah the mario games have good tunes but those are only a few out of many wich fail to DELIVER what we want! In the past nearly ALL GAMES had at least 1 badass beat u loved to kick ass2. :p

  • @True2TheBlueYoViGang u know what's funny? i was playing fable 3 this morning and realised how dreadfully silent the game is. so much in fact i stopped there and thought back to every zelda game ever. exploring wasn't tedious because there's that badass overworld theme you just don't tire of listening to. and even then when there was no music it only created tension for the player. nintendo still has musical standards but that's it and it's sad.

  • @jeang

ur so right...this is true art comming together both a visual and audio representation of what a level feels like. When i hear this melody i can begingf to feel the atmosphere and i begin remembering playing the levels...the entire track just makes me think of the level... its totally breath taking, the visual graphix were top notch of that time and something never before seen on SNES with such great controls and sound FX. thats what art is... and its dieing... due to recession perhaps?

  • i want this song at my funeral =)

  • Sweeeeet Chirst!!! This is music sounds like some Yasunori Mitsuda material! David Wise is a genius!!!

  • The second to last bit of Animal Antics I recall. That fucking wind. Easy to people with experience, but my first time.. So much failure and frustration. It was all in good fun though.

  • Original uploader here, just wanted to say that I wouldn't mind if this was the last music I heard before death :)

  • @ArichDKC Would make sense, I've heard this song so many times in my life, that it reminds me of a lot of experiences!

  • @ArichDKC no shit. Couldn't have said it better my friend!

  • @ArichDKC

Actually DS was good to. The handhelds weren't affected much.

  • @ArichDKC

    Err, TOO, not to.

  • @ArichDKC Same here ! )

  • haha i love how i played this song and my cat wakes up and looks at me. hah

one of the best songs on the SNES, also a fan of haunted chase...

  • Even though I am only 10 years old this is my favorite game and I do like the music a lot. All of the other stuff like shooting games and xbox and that stuff is just plain old crap. Does anybody agree?

  • @dkc2lover I'm with you. I spend much more time playing NES and SNES games than I do playing my Xbox.

  • Timeless whenever I think of a computer game for music DKC 2 instantly tops the lot and this was by far my fav song, could do the sound test and listen to this for hours. It's that relaxing! Donkey Kong Country was a unique platformer which even DS platformers can't match. Another song I could listen to for hours was the Illusion of Gaia (Time) exit game screen after saving.

  • this is the best vgm music in this game but the level from this music ist very hard

    ^.^ thanks for uploaden

  • I missed out on this retro gem back in the days, I've played DKC1 and 3 but never 2.

Until yesterday, a friend of a friend's cartridge was kind enough for us to borrow it, and I'm loving this game to pieces (not literally though!). I'm around up to the third world, and this song really gets cemented into my head. In terms of music and gameplay, I can see why people say it was the best of the 3 DKC games.

  • Did Koji Kondo do the DKC soundtracks?

  • @Hworth8 Dave Wise

  • @Hworth8 no it was david wise

he used to be the rare's in-house music composer

    he recently left the company...

they sold their soul to microsoft......

  • composed by david wise

  • Está muy bien hecha esta wea.

  • This piece is so beautiful, so calming, and then.... STUPID FUCKING RED ZINGER KILLED ME AGAIN

  • I think the 4 people who disliked this song have mind problems

  • This cannot be equaled.

  • Man i can still remember the first time i played this on the snes

    Intense

  • listen to this on acid lol

  • listen to this one on acid

  • this music, though amazing, may be a bit too clicky to fit into modern day game enviroments :) In games like Donkey Kong where there was no dialog they had to rely more heavily on the music to keep you sucked in. Putting dialog and gunfire to something like this would most definitely feel out of place. And admit it, the Halo theme gets caught in your head probably more than the game itself!

  • Oh pishaaaw~ The level isnt that hard, I always get past the thorny levels on the 1st try.

  • It almost brings a tear to the eye

  • the smash bros version is quite hard to recognise.

  • I'd like this song to be the last thing I hear before I die.

  • beautiful music

  • I love classic videogame music, but the comment area is DREADFULLY flooded with people that say stupid shit like, "They just don't have good music in games anymore." Whoever says this needs to stop being a nostalgic close-minded moron and actually give a listen to some modern game music. Mario Kart Wii? Some of my favorite music in videogaming ever! I bet the real reason why people say that is because they're too busy whining about how the gameplay isn't as fun as it used to be either. Sheesh.

  • Well-said. Mario Kart Wii did have some pretty awesome music

  • Personally I liked the Mario Kart: Double Dash music a bit better, but yeah, I agree with your point. I highly like Punch-Out!! (Wii) music and Super Smash Bros. Brawl's

  • @ArichDKC there is still good video game music out there, but come on nothing compares to this. Dave wise is a genious

  • @ArichDKC And did you hear Zelda Spirit Tracks?

  • @ypoora1 Hmm? I don't think so.

  • @GeneralCane You're fucked, a mental breakdown over a videogame?

  • @GeneralCane oops wrong person

  • @GeneralCane True, video game music is still good these days.

But the reason people praise classic themes is because the evoke such an awesome nostalgic feeling. In 15 years, people will talk the same about mario kart Wii =P

  • @GeneralCane The Mario Kart games are some overrated shitty spin-offs

  • @ningeaBLADEclanuBECA That is your opinion. I know dozens who would disagree with that remark. I would much rather play Mario Kart Wii than the classic Mario Kart that doubles straggling computer players' speed rather than letting you claim your rightful victory.

  • I'll agree that game music hasn't necessary gone all downhill, but gameplay certainly has. Gun Battle Slapfight 37, Japanese Superhero Teenager Adventure, and Online Heroin dominate game types. Very few and far between are unique games, or (more importantly) good games (some of the aforementioned are). This isn't just speculation, the market has been inundated over the past decade with people trying to cash in on video games making as simple and cheap of games as possible etc etc

  • @GeneralCane Yes yes. And let's not forget New Super Mario Bros. Wii. The BEST Mario series music ever!!!!!

  • @GeneralCane While I can agree that some modern games have good ones, I think it's just people's timeless memories that make them say comments like that. I don't think they mean every single new game out is crap music...just the majority.

  • @GeneralCane

Heavy Rain,Uncharted,Silent Hill,Call oF Duty Modern Warfare,

Mirror's edge,a crap ton of games on the wii,Killzone 2,Halo,

Shadow of the Collosus And a million of music goldmines in modern gaming prove the close minded wrong.

  • @GeneralCane There is still good video game music nowadays, but come on, NOTHING compares to this. Wise is a genious

  • @General

well bro one thing u need to understand was back then MOST EVERY TITTLE had to have a catchy tune... it was part of the gaming experience (and still is) now a days developers focus more on ambient sounds instead of music so we hear less music that trances us. Before graphix advanced music was well over 50% of the gameplay experience as beats had to say something abt the LEVEL... now artists are rejecting this way of developing music to a game wich makes new music sux. duno if u get me?

  • @GeneralCane

Example now we have trigger moments in games... or ambience.. until something happens then ull hear a hard core beat for a few seconds until u kill all ur enemies then u go back to ambient sounds... like if ur outside u'll hear frgos crickets dogs trees wind... no beat... that's the style that seems to be dominating today thats why alot of people are bitching about VGM. It used to be in SNES days they TRYED to make the game levels more heartfelt by writting music TO THE LEVELS!

  • @GeneralCane Bowser's Castle yeh?

  • @GeneralCane Agreed.

  • @GeneralCane

Hear hear. I have the Windwaker soundtrack and its amazing to me

  • @thethuginwes Ah, HELL yes!

  • @GeneralCane resident evil 4, halo games, oblivion, mass effect. lots of todays games have amazing music as well. its just not nostalgic yet

  • @GeneralCane their point is that sometimes simplicity is bliss, and it is true that with better graphics the emphesis goes towards that, and the soul can be left behind. The same can be said about movies and music. Of course you still get good ones, but the percentage is far lower.

  • @GeneralCane Yeah, some people are just blinded by nostalgia. The best game ever could be released tomorrow and people would still complain about it because "it's not teh classic an neew gamz ar suck!"

  • @GeneralCane

I could say the same thing, but Cranky was right until Wii. In GameCube's era, the awesome games were few. Even MARIO had the worst 3-D game of his time (IMO). (I love sunshine, but it was also my least fave.)

Then Wii came out and everything was A-OK. Game play was focused on, just like it used to be.

  • @GeneralCane Well ya know I can see where they are coming from though. I mean think about it. In your childhood you had amazing games such like this that HAVE left such a huge impact on your play styles and thought processes. I guess we got so accustomed to the past that we had no room for the future.

  • @GeneralCane OMG Thank you. You've pretty much hit the nail on what I've been trying to say on these types of videos. I didn't know people like you actually existed. Yeah, I'm annoyed by it too. It's like they literally only want to live in the past. I love these games, and I love this music but I'm not close-minded enough to leave out modern games and music. And I swear if I had a quarter for every time I see the word "childhood" on these videos, I wouldn't have to work for at least 15 years.

  • @Sunshine2SSB more like this one gets 1000%

  • I see why Super Smash Bros. Brawl put this song in the game. IT SOUNDS AWESOME!!!!!! XD

  • @Qjackful hellz ya

  • BEST. VIDEO GAME MUSIC. EVER.

  • Is their somewhere I can download this song, it's so soothing and nostalgic?

  • cuantos recuerdos, snifff...que buen tema

  • Single greatest VG song ever made....

  • Good song to chill with your girlfriend...

    ...if i had one

  • my (soon to be) girlfriend hates this song.

  • then she shouldnt be soon to be...imo

  • I don't know what you mean? Nor do I care, so just don't reply.

  • Well, I DID comment back, so I guess I did, didn't I?

  • I forgot how awesome the music in that game was. Thanks for bringing back those memories.

  • the Brawl version is simply ok, but is nothing compared with the original.

  • Something about this song IS weirdly fitting, seeing as the levels this song is played in involves you flying through things that could take a guy's arm off. Great song, anyway.

  • i downloaded zsnes and after 10 years of not playing this game i remembered every fucking tune this game has one of THE best soundtracks

  • Good times!

  • im playing this game right now

  • the Brawl version sucked but this is awesome.

  • omg i love this song... i got to bed to this everynight :D

  • @Edobeanfan1 lol me 2 this and chrono cross shore song

  • nostalgia

  • Sooo relaxing!!!

  • Amazing after not playing DK for 10 years, i can still remember how the tune goes.

  • DK2 music truly stays with you for life. This is the kind of thing that comes up in hypno-therapy when you're 60, or that you start psychotically belting out when you're straitjacketed in a mental institution. It's imprinted on the mind.

  • I haven't heard anything in videogames in the generation yet that can top the tranquil, peaceful, nostalgic, relaxed feeling I get from this song.

  • Now THAT is awesome!

  • Just played this game yesterday on my 17-year-old SNES.

    Never give up a classic!

  • @2ndOfficerCHL if you got a nintendo wii you can download the game from the virtual console

  • i want this song to play at my funeral AHAHA XD asti...

  • Chu ben d'accord!

  • This music was stuck in my head for over 10 years!

  • Great song and a Brutal level. thanks for the upload.

  • This song makes you nostalgic about anything. Have nothing? IT WILL MAKE YOU NOSTALGIC ABOUT NOTHING.

I want this song to play at my funeral.

  • best video game music to date

    BUT

    at a cost !

1 or 2 smashed SNES controllers and a mental breakdown.

this level was fucking hard !!!!!!!

  • @majunior000 lool i know! XD i had to get my dad to beat the level for me when i was like 4. ah, memories

  • @majunior000

    why?^^

  • @majunior000 lol

  • Simply epic. Best song of DKC 2. Takes me back. But here's a question, what would this song sound like if it was on the SEGA GENESIS? Would it be just as epic, would it be fail, would it beat the SNES version? I would love to hear what it would sound like. 5/5 Stars, thanks for the memories. =)

  • Sure, I have favorite video game music, I rock out to the Gyromite theme. But DKC2 is not only one of the greatest games of all time, its music and SFX are CONSISTENTLY brilliant. This song, on the other hand, is one of my favorite SONGS of all time. I remember playing this and Castle Crush even though I got all the secret stuff inside... just so I could listen to this masterpiece one more time! I suppose it is not a wonder that I listen to Ambient music now. I'll NEVER tire of this.

  • This song never got out of my head.

  • Diddy Kong is my favorite Nintendo character

  • Wow... i remember playing this with my older siblings as a little kid and now im a graduating from high school.... memories!

  • 1:28 !!! OMGGG <33

  • 0:28 !!

  • Sounds Perfects <3

  • Im crying right now , sweet memories !

  • just sweet memories

  • debe ser el tema de amor de diddy kong y dixie kong

  • You can find the DKC, DKC2, and DKC3 OSTs on Last(dot)fm. Just search for "David Wise", click the first result, and voila. =)

  • Thanks, gonna put some on my MP3 then : )

  • Truly Epic!

  • Man...these were the days back when video games had heart and soul into them.

It's just so rare to find these type of games nowadays.

  • yes, those were the days, i still get so much from replaying those old games...why cant they make games like that anymore.

  • Gaming may be dying but there's still the odd gem. Last year was paticularly good.

  • wut

  • Yea, I guess I'm the only one.

  • Best song in a video game ever in my opinion. Has a very nice prog feel to it. I remember as a young kid around 6 stop playing just so I could close my eyes and listen to this haha. Such a great nostalgic feel!

  • I know. I'm glad we all played these as kids. I'll never forget how this music calmed me down as a kid. It was so much fun. This is the best video game music in my opinion.

  • man...gotta love these retro tunes, the DKC series was/is my favourite series of old school games, second only to super mario world. nintendo needs to realize that people still like a good side-scroller with music such as this. love it!

  • Love this song...first listened to it when I played Donkey Kong Land 2...completely loved listening to this song instead of playing the LV

  • I feel a natural high with this song.

  • Why are people complaining about the SSBB remix? This calm ambient version wouldn't fit that well with the whole craziness of the DK stage and Brawl as a whole.

  • damn i had the biggest flashback in my life...this song takes me back when i used to rule my SNES with f-zero DCK 1-3 or teranigma...big up to the upper...i would give u more but...5* ;)

  • As a kid, I always thought I was crazy for loving this song in particular.

If that kid I was would see how many people love this song in the future, that kid would be the happiest one in the world =)

  • I 100 percent had the same experience and feel the same way :)

  • Bramble Blast is one of the most beautiful levels in platforming history.
