If people really wanted to pirate or get free music or episodes etc. They would use p2p programs like limewire or bittorrent. Even then there are plenty of other video sites and people who host their own pages with videos that upload shows and movies anyways. Which goes back to copyright law. Reforms need to be made. If obama really wants to change anything maybe it should start with reforms something alot of people care about: streaming videos particularly youtube of course and copyright
Also I think perhaps something I would like you to touch on is the copyright issues. There is a book out there that is advocating for copyright law reforms. They simply don't work with today's technology of file sharing and streaming music/videos on sites such as youtube or imeem. I'm not saying people should be able to upload full episodes or movies on youtube. I often like watching user made music videos mixed with clips from a tv show or anime. Even those are now being censored. a shame.
It's unstoppable at this point sadly. The only way to really make youtube change back to how it was would be for people to boycott youtube. But that would require that alot of people start using another video streaming site such as megavideo but then it would be a matter of time before that place gets bought and becomes corporate. If a boycott does work out I think youtube would faster close and tank than it would go back on its precious investors. People keep coming here anyway. inevitably sad

Many of my uploads,have been deleted for no reason. No explicit sex or extreme nudity nothing threatening. Its a damn shame that its now going to be a time that YOUTUBE is going to decline in popularity. A newer site similar to YOUTUBE will be created soon. This will not be good for YOUTUBE. The owner and people at the corporate level may be too arrogant to figure this out.

it's not that dmca should or shouldn't be followed, youtube can't work outside the law.
the reason that stuff that isn't infringing gets removed is that the dmca makes it easy to bully people into removing content. you say "this infringes, here's your notice" and it's more convenient to take it down than dispute it. so the dmca is like an easy one-step way to remove things regardless of legitimate claim. that's a problem for almost everyone that creates original content, but not the big labels.
well if what you say is the case then youtube will ultimately take down any accounts they see when they see fit soon. why would youtube keep any accounts that don't adhere t owhat they believe is acceptable unless theyare having a hard time keeping sock accounts from being formed. i agree with the theory as a whole. although there is alot of anti-corporate users o n youtube. of course google can't buy every youtube imitation like dailymotion etc. that why they want internet 2for censorship.

youtube's system of promoting videos will become obsolete.
the good news is that it's the easiest feature of youtube to replace, with services like dig and with forums that let people promote videos by hand instead of algorithm. youtube is a very good place to host a video, unless they censor you. right now they delete too much, but for most users (that's key: most) it's the best place to host, until that becomes obsolete too.

Because it outlined that youtube is completely banned in Turkey and is hard to watch in Iraq. Right, I feel I've been making great videos for a year but haven't been truly recognized yet, while other people keep getting featured over and over again.
Not that I don't believe what is outlined here, but Phil Defranco is on the front page many times and is a partner. So they obviously want people like Phil to become popular.
I never even look at the front page or the lists of most whatever. I live out of my subscriptions box and find out about other channels through those vids.
Your theory falls right into place with their latest changes. Video views are dropping like a rock due to people's lines of communications being cut with the removal of the bulletin system. They are attempting to stratify the site so only corporate content is left standing. I believe that youtube wants people to "upload their cat videos" as you say to give the illusion of community and to pump up the overall numbers a bit-but not enough to get noticed by the overall viewership.
If I had to choose I would say vlogging because blogging is writing. But I make videos and I don't vlog so I wouldn't call it that either. It's just a video sharing site to me.
Youtube was originally made to be host to 'every music video in the world'. NOW, they get taken down because of 'copy right infringement'. i don't like this. and i HATE the commercials EVERYWHERE.
Why doesn't YouTube create various front ends. One could be an Uncensored front end... other front ends could be intended for kids or Christians, Muslims, etc. A user can even select a favorite front end that activates when they sign on... however, those not signed in should still be able to access any of the front ends without signing in...
They have a thing called "moderate safe search" on their Google search engine which filters out adult content from searches. They could probably implement something similar on YouTube and just let the user choose what kind of content he wants filtered out.

That's what some of the partners were saying a while back when there was a lot of advertising for Scientology on YouTube. A lot were very annoyed that their videos were showing ads for something they didn't believe in.

well if what you say is the case then youtube will ultimately take down any accounts they see when they see fit soon. why would youtube keep any accounts that don't adhere t owhat they believe is acceptable unless theyare having a hard time keeping sock accounts from being formed. i agree with the theory as a whole. although there is alot of anti-corporate users o n youtube. of course google can't buy every youtube imitation like dailymotion etc. that why they want internet 2for censorship.

youtube's system of promoting videos will become obsolete.
the good news is that it's the easiest feature of youtube to replace, with services like dig and with forums that let people promote videos by hand instead of algorithm. youtube is a very good place to host a video, unless they censor you. right now they delete too much, but for most users (that's key: most) it's the best place to host, until that becomes obsolete too.

Unfortunately, I can't really see what I CAN do about it, short of complain to a site that doesn't care, or choose to leave.
I'm not happy with the recent changes, particularly advertising (but I can live with that to a point)and the taking away of bulletins (there was no need for that-other than to disable communication. We could always shut them off if we wanted, now they have just taken away the option)
Any suggestions on what we can do about it?

Prior to your excellent video my video was featured on the youtubiaadvocate channel entitled I wanted to see iraqies chatting on youtube. Did you see that? Because it outlined that youtube is completely banned in Turkey and is hard to watch in Iraq. Perhaps youtube recognizes a global consumer base potential and is struggling on how or what to do about content?

Your theory falls right into place with their latest changes. Video views are dropping like a rock due to people's lines of communications being cut with the removal of the bulletin system. They are attempting to stratify the site so only corporate content is left standing. I believe that youtube wants people to "upload their cat videos" as you say to give the illusion of community and to pump up the overall numbers a bit-but not enough to get noticed by the overall viewership.

Why doesn't YouTube create various front ends. One could be an Uncensored front end... other front ends could be intended for kids or Christians, Muslims, etc. A user can even select a favorite front end that activates when they sign on... however, those not signed in should still be able to access any of the front ends without signing in...

They have a thing called "moderate safe search" on their Google search engine which filters out adult content from searches. They could probably implement something similar on YouTube and just let the user choose what kind of content he wants filtered out.
