They look so tight. Most bands sound lackluster or weak live... not Refused. Lyxzen could scream just as well live as he could on record, and the band is so powerful. I want them to make a comeback so bad so that I can see them.
This band shaped the punk to come-but were ahead of their time, which means...they shaped the punk of the future from the past with future punk that they wrote before the past?....whoa mindfuck. REFUSED Are Fucking Dead
When I first heard this cd, I never went back to mainstream music. This music is as revolutionary as it gets and I am glad its stayed this way. We only still speak of this band because most bands die at their prime, The Refused died at their ultimate peak almost honorably... fuck that !! Definitely with honor!
haha. It has nothing to do with capitalism, it has to do with the fact that making even bad music is hard as hell...To come up with something like this is extraordinary whether it's in a capitalist scene or a socialist scene.
it wasn't well received because of the times it was put out. refused's music is beyond anything from around that time. and still is beyond to this time.
You have to remember that The Shape of Punk to Come was a succesful album, but it wasn't very well received live for some reason. The band has said this before (After they broke up)
the kind of hardcore music that refused played was originated in sweden, if anything, all the american stuff that came out of orange county ripped off bands like refused.
@tpe79 You're pretty ignorant of punk history. First off, Refused was extremely influenced by Snapcase who was from Buffalo, NY, not from Southern California or Sweden. "The Shape of Punk to Come" was also very inspired by the Nation of Ulysses, who was from Washington DC,not from CA or Sweden as well as American jazz (at least aesthetically).
The crowd seems dead because it's an Irish pub where traditional Irish music is usually played, the setting is definitely not for anything other than that. Those guys who appear to be falling asleep in the background are probably just nodding off while on heroin.
I would kill to see a Refused Reunion tour. But not another album. After TSOPTC, its unnessecary. But a reunion tour on the other hand, would be good.
That blonde chick in the background seems to have great tits.

Even today, I fail to find a band that can produce music that is even remotely as innovative as The Shape of Punk to Come.
For me, music has really gone down hill in recent years.
No longer captivated by passion, but submerged in capitalism.

perhaps they only read "punk band" when it should have been "hardcore punk band"
