Sorry I went to auburn university form 1979 to 1981, Music scholarship. It was ok but I always felt like a second class citizen tell people I went to auburn. Im a Bama fan but all joking aside, Auburn did the fly over with a bald eagle for the first time ever in honor of 9/11. I thought it was very thoughtful and a nice gesture, so whether youre a bama fan or tiger fan or any other fan, we all can agree that we stick together in hard times. I live in Tuscaloosa and I want to extend a huge thank you to all who helped in the recovery of our city and state from all of us affected on april 27th. Its the best rivalry anywhere. You do realize that it was Alabama who was proven to have paid 6 figures for a recruit, right? With Auburn it was nothing more than a blogger throwing out unsupported claims, and the lack of action by the NCAA should tell you just that. Also, keep in mind that Alabama has been on probation for the better part of 15 years now while Auburn has not been in trouble for going on 20.

Probation does not mean scholarship limitation or post season ban. Perhaps that's why you are confused.
As far as the ongoing investigation - if the NCAA hasn't done anything by now it won't happen. Auburn reported the Cam stuff over a year ago.

If they'd put some of the transparent, UV-reflective stickers on the windows, the birds could see it's glass and might not hit is. The eagle was the bird of the day, but other birds, of all kinds, probably hit that glass just as they often do any pane of glass. OR, they could let cats into the stadium during the week to eat the wounded and killed birds! Let Auburn tigers in there to clean up the carcasses. Real ones. Who needs a bird? What an idea. I was at the game. I am not an Auburn fan but think it is an awesome tradition. I hated to see the Eagle hit the glass and was in no way amused. I am thankful no one was hurt and do hope that the Eagle will be able to continue its performance for many games to come.
It is a pretty awsome tradition. They are well cared for by the raptor center and one of the best in the world. There are companies now you can hire to bring an eagle to your stadium or event and do the same thing. It may have been how the earlier lighting was hitting the glass. It was in the morning sun.
I'm not for a particular team but some of these Alabama fans are showing their Harvey Updike side and this is not anything to be proud of. You make everyone ashamed of Alabama.

PETA needs to step in and get this stopped before Auburn kills another Eagle.
I have forwarded this video to PETA. PETA replied back and said it had been reported to them from 100's of people, and they where looking into it. I will not let up on this until it is stopped before another Eagle gets killed. More people need to complain to PETA about this.

A "war eagle" is actually a nickname for a pigeon used during WWI. I always heard AU fans say that it flew around the stadium and died on the 50 yard line. That doesn't seem like a good omen.

You do realize that it was Alabama who was proven to have paid 6 figures for a recruit, right? With Auburn it was nothing more than a blogger throwing out unsupported claims, and the lack of action by the NCAA should tell you just that. Also, keep in mind that Alabama has been on probation for the better part of 15 years now while Auburn has not been in trouble for going on 20.

@jamiekmentel Yes. Alabama is currently on probation because of the textbook scandal. It extended your probation by 3 years, and the sentence was handed down two years ago.
Probation does not mean scholarship limitation or post season ban. Perhaps that's why you are confused.
As far as the ongoing investigation - if the NCAA hasn't done anything by now it won't happen. Auburn reported the Cam stuff over a year ago.

@Lowderpoop The textbook scandal investigation took place in 2007 and the penalty wasn't handed down until June of 2009. That was over a year. As of last month, per Mark Emmert, the AU investigation was still open.

Regarding Cam - the NCAA never officially closes a case until the statute of limitations is up (4 years). My point is that if they can't find anything after a full year of investigation, then they more than likely won't ever find anything.

If they'd put some of the transparent, UV-reflective stickers on the windows, the birds could see it's glass and might not hit is. The eagle was the bird of the day, but other birds, of all kinds, probably hit that glass just as they often do any pane of glass. OR, they could let cats into the stadium during the week to eat the wounded and killed birds! Let Auburn tigers in there to clean up the carcasses. Real ones. Who needs a bird? What an idea. WAR EAGLE.

I was at the game. I am not an Auburn fan but think it is an awesome tradition. I hated to see the Eagle hit the glass and was in no way amused. I am thankful no one was hurt and do hope that the Eagle will be able to continue its performance for many games to come.

It is a pretty awsome tradition. They are well cared for by the raptor center and one of the best in the world. There are companies now you can hire to bring an eagle to your stadium or event and do the same thing. It may have been how the earlier lighting was hitting the glass. It was in the morning sun.
I'm not for a particular team but some of these Alabama fans are showing their Harvey Updike side and this is not anything to be proud of. You make everyone ashamed of Alabama.

i think it's pretty shitty for some Bama fans to get on here and make ridiculous comments....i think it's a beautiful tradition that stands strong at Auburn and it's unfortunate that Spirit did hit the glass but the cool thing is, it didn't stop her! she kept going...pretty damn awesome if you ask me....i'll top my comment off with a Roll Tide though :)

GO do some research on people that really do hurt animals...Proctor and gamble does research on them look it up...report them to PETA and leave us alone! War Eagle! :)

PETA needs to step in and get this stopped before Auburn kills another Eagle.
I have forwarded this video to PETA. PETA replied back and said it had been reported to them from 100's of people, and they where looking into it. I will not let up on this until it is stopped before another Eagle gets killed. More people need to complain to PETA about this.

@Z71Ranger Before another eagle gets killed? Please tell me when Auburn killed an eagle. Also, all the eagles/birds in captivity at the Raptor Center are there because they have some condition that prevents them from thriving in the wild. If we released all the birds they would certainly die.

If you are smart enough to be on the internet, do a search on Auburn and its world-renowned raptor center. I was at this game and it was very frightening to see this happen. She always fly a perfect path and it is absolutely stunning. These birds are trained to make this flight and have even flown in the Olympics. A "war eagle" is actually a nickname for a pigeon used during WWI. I always heard AU fans say that it flew around the stadium and died on the 50 yard line. That doesn't seem like a good omen.
